Secondly you still seem to be having trouble understanding that it is England where people want to live and it is England's population density which is relevant. Finally if you want to go "around the world" then do so. Don't just cite the places where population density is off the scale because they live on nearly every square inch. Let's have the figures for Australia. Let's have them for America. Let's have them for Canada. You know places where people actually want to live. You feel free to emigrate to any of the world's shiit holes if that floats your boat.
EO is normally an intelligent poster but he is just being disingenuous again. England may be the densest among big European nations but we have to remember that we are in an Island and successful islands like Britain, Malta, Macau, Japan, Singapore, Hong kong etc tend to attract alot of immigrants. Paris has a population density of over 20,000/sq km which is about 4 times higher than England's densest city which is London. Barcelona, Athens or Monaco are about 3 times as crowded as London is. London does not even make the top 50 from this European list!!! France and Spain seem to have been overrepresented even though they are some of the largest/least dense countries in Europe people will only go to live where there is prosperity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_cities_proper_by_population_density Looking at the US despite their size there are quite a few cities that are more densely populated than London!!! New York City is twice as densely populated as London is!!! Cities like San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and Miami have higher/similar densities as London. I know many people whose dreams would be to live in many of the overcrowded cities I listed above!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population_density |

I'm not being in the least disingenuous Boris but at least your arguments are well thought out and without the lunatic assertions about Nazism which Mad Lad comes out with.
If I may take your post point by point: England may be the densest among big European nations but we have to remember that we are in an Island and successful islands like Britain, Malta, Macau, Japan, Singapore, Hong kong etc tend to attract alot of immigrants. No matter how I turn that statement around it just seems like you are conflating two different things and assuming some kind of link. Why on earth would island status attract immigrants any more than any other country. Do they bring their bucket and spades with them for the beach? ![]() Paris has a population density of over 20,000/sq km which is about 4 times higher than England's densest city which is London. Barcelona, Athens or Monaco are about 3 times as crowded as London is. London does not even make the top 50 from this European list!!! France and Spain seem to have been overrepresented even though they are some of the largest/least dense countries in Europe people will only go to live where there is prosperity. That's an interesting point but I wasn't suggesting that London was any more densely populated than other cities. People are attracted to success. I agree with this point. So why England and not Germany which has a much lower population density? Looking at the US despite their size there are quite a few cities that are more densely populated than London!!! New York City is twice as densely populated as London is!!! Cities like San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and Miami have higher/similar densities as London. I know many people whose dreams would be to live in many of the overcrowded cities I listed above!!! And if that works for individuals then that is dandy but it clearly doesn't seem to be working for the people of this country for who immigration and assimilation seems to be a major issue. |

And you didn't address the elephant in the room. No disrespect to these people and their situation but why are other European countries getting the cream of the world's immigrants and we are getting the neep dockers?
|

Much of what I was going to say Boris.
When all of a sudden did it become England and not the UK. England has little inhospitable areas, unlike Germany for example. If you want you can push density population up even further, by cutting out the poor counties, and only counting the South East. Or maybe just count London.... O no but then although France has a quite low density population, Paris, as Boris said, has twice the density of London. We can take heart that even approaching 400 per sq kilom. We can safely double that before we start screaming like the Jersey Islanders at 800 per sq kilom. |
|
By:
The population of Jersey could stand on your fat head Mad Lad and still have room for a band stand in the middle.
|
|
By:
Can't you hear those Jersey islanders screaming from the crush at 800 psk.
And all those princes, film stars, & billionaires in Monte Carlo must be at the point of asphyxiation with a whopping 18,000 psk. That's about 46 times the pop density of England 395 psk. ![]() ![]() ![]() I told you, you were talking rubbish, and I think the likes of Monte Carlo regular Roman Abramovich would agree with me! - no pleb, in no s*** hole |

All of them are not crowded in a subway train at the same time in the morning either.
|

Fair enough northern lad you have your views and I have mine. We're hardly likely to reach agreement. Why don't we look again at the thread title? You seemed to disagree with it. I've put up evidence about the kind of people who are coming to this country as opposed to countries like Germany and they are disproportionately coming from these poorer countries often with limited educations.
Is this not a cause of concern for you? |
|
By:
Limited educations can be a resourse also.

Like I said who needs an engineer or IT specialist when you can have a neep docker or sponger? Send us your useless lumps. The ones we have already aren't enough.

Take the Roma's & Bulgarians - there wont be that many as most will prefer to go to GERMANY
ITALY FRANCE HOLLAND & SWEDEN, skilled or unskilled. |

A report today on the breakdown of the better UK employment figures stated that jobs at the bottom were providing the bulk of the jobs.
Jobs at the top end had also increased. While the skilled jobs in the middle are still in short supply. |

No matter how I turn that statement around it just seems like you are conflating two different things and assuming some kind of link. Why on earth would island status attract immigrants any more than any other country. Do they bring their bucket and spades with them for the beach? Laugh It is true that I conflated two seemingly different things. But I believe that places like Gibraltar, Malta, Jersey or Britain have higher population densities because of the success of their economies compared to their neighbours. The fact remains that London would have more than 30million souls living in it if we decided to cram in a similar density as that of Paris and I am not sure Paris is the worst place to live in. People are attracted to success. I agree with this point. So why England and not Germany which has a much lower population density? You know very well that the main cause for this is the stupid and ruinous decision by our ancestors to have that empire malarkey!!! They made English and our culture the centre of the world so most of the world learn English/American and aspire to come and live the dream and no one learns German or Japanese. Germany had to forego its empire hence they do not have that legacy unlike Britain, France or Spain who feel the need to invite in immigrants from their former colonies who tend to be poorer than other EU immigrants who populate the likes of Germany, Austria, Switzerland etc. And if that works for individuals then that is dandy but it clearly doesn't seem to be working for the people of this country for who immigration and assimilation seems to be a major issue. People from this country and everywhere else in the world have always been opposed to most immigration from time immemorial so why are you telling me there water in the sea? ![]() |

I can’t see why Northy is so keen on high immigration.
After all it’s his lot that suffers most from unemployment. They can’t find jobs now. So what chance do they have with a ready supply of better motivated workers coming here from the continent ready to snap up all the low paid jobs? |
|

So what chance do they have with a ready supply of better motivated workers coming here from the continent ready to snap up all the low paid jobs"? Yes Crippin lets fill our businesses and factories and services with un-motivated shirkers. That will hold Britain in good stead for the future. The 'Made in Britain' brand reduced to a bag of shoite in the eyes of the rest of the world. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't........................ |
|
By:
Stop paying the shirkers to breed and eat. Pay them to work. If they won't work allow nature to encourage them. Hunger is a great motivator.
|
|
By:
Say's him on his part time, chimney fire extinguishing, tax payer dependent, mass contribution to our economic woe's!
Highly motivated! |
|
By:
What we have to pay the shirkers in handouts, cancels out any benefit we might get from the hard workers from abroad doing the menial jobs.
Also the kind of jobs the immigrants do are never going to boost our economy. If cheap unskilled labour were so important to an economy, then the countries they're coming from wouldn't be in such a state. |
|
By:
Bollocks!
How much do you think it would cost the economy if the restaurant and takeaway industry closed, and like me Jamie Oliver & Gordon Ramsey wouldn't be happy either! |
|
By:
Why should any slop houses close?
We've got plenty of labour capable of cooking without employing illegal immigrants just because they'll work for a bowl of rice a day. |
|
By:
Cooking is a woman's job anyway.
|
|
By:
You don't want to fall for that celebrity chef bollox either.
Nobody ever eats the muck they prepare. They're simply shows to provide entertainment for the ladies. And of course the limp wristed gentlemen amongst us. |
|
By:
Listen Mad Lad you fool. If you want to work all day like a dog for a pound don't blame someone smarter than you who makes money even when he is sleeping.
|
|
By:
Women don't watch young Oliver or Ramsey to watch them cooking.
They watch them because they want to go to bed with them. When they say have you tasted my meat and two veg? They're not talking about cooking. |

As I suspected - well while your sleeping with your curtains drawn, the rest of us are going out to create the tax revenue you collect in benefits! Your lazy attitude is a national problem! |

Northy talking of celebrity chefs.
Nigela Lawson is on Channel 41 now cooking. Lots of close ups of her face (before her husband gave her a shiner of course.) Close ups of her fingers, her hair, and of course shots of her t its hanging out. Wait a bit! Aren’t women supposed to wear a hair net when they’re preparing food? The dirty cow looks like she’s dressed up for a dinner and dance not for the kitchen. See what I mean Northy. |
|
By:
I've told you before Mad Lad. I don't claim benefits. I know the concept of investments wouldn't concern someone like you who is only fit for washing dishes or slicing meat off the kebab stick but don't judge everyone's intellect by your lack of it. If you don't understand that ask castor to explain it next time he is slipping you one while telling you space stories.
|
|
By:
yes yes doctor
but please keep it quiet - I love watching nigela with her bo.... err bowl of cake mix busily stirring away and wobbling all over the place - oops!!! I seem to have made a mess!!! must go!! toodle pip!!!! |

EO's a benefit scrounger!
Hiding behind his curtains & sleeping while we the tax payer fund his bank account! O what a disgrace, O what a shame. He lies to our face, Sez others are to blame! |
