Carl - get some nicorette chewing gum it stops the irritabilty. use the low strength. All it does is replace the nicotine, which the lack of, is what's making you want to punch walls.

Mandy iv given up smoking a few times but always went back lol 24hrs-48hrs the worst 48hrs to end of 1st week very bad 7-14 days a little nag, after fortnight cravings totaly gone. I was extremely sports orientated 1st 20 years of life so periods would be longer for someone whos has less active life. Over the last 10 years iv had 3 cracked teeth from having a whack on the head on my 18th bday ouch spend whole day and night in plastic surgery ward lmao. When i took the whack my teeth smashed together and 3 of em were damaged iv never liked dentists so bit by bit the cracks got worse and so did the toothache 1 of the roots died on its own finally but iv had the other 2 taken out 1 bout 2 years ago and the last 1 just a month ago. I put up wiv some horrific pain wiv them unreal when u consider how easy it is to have them removed. If u phone dentist go private 60 quid and u can have it out by lunchtimein 4hrs the pain will be hardly noticable, trying to give up smoking while ur in constant pain just wont work get the tooth seen to asap and not having a fag will be so much easier. I assume uv tried clove oil for the immediate took ache so u can talk wivout ripping someones head off lmao its only short term**it, u will quickly build up immunity so it doesnt work but will have instant bliss if uv never used it b4, anyone gona use clove oil only a bit at a time and dont get any on ur lips and face cos it can burn quite nastily if u overdo it;)

CARL - It WILL pass - The 1st week is a bit of a C**t to be honest, you'll still have urges and weak moments to beat for 3-4 weeks but 3 days is renowned as the biggest mountain.
The hardest thing in gicing up is getting started and youve done that. Youve beaten the fear. Your wife and kids can look forward to seeing their father for many years to come. If you need to eat or drink a little (or a lot more) just do it. Any pangs or grumpiness your having is that sly c**t of a nicotine monster clinging on to life. Each craving beaten is another dagger in his yellowy brown stained f**k c**t of a heart. gl gg wp |

Everytime you fancy a cancer stick have a w*** instead. You will sleep more (so less time for cravings), enjoy yourself and get fit at the same time. Spend the money you save from buying ciggies on a collection of adult literature to help you in your quest.

I quit at new year but fell off in Vegas in July. Went to the quack two weeks ago for a prescription for Zyban (which I used in January) and I'm quitting tonight when I go to bed. Carl - day 3 is the worst because the last of the nicotine has left your body. Have a look at http://whyquit.org/ Also go to http://www.silkquit.org/ and install their quit meter, which runs in your systray and shows how much money you've saved and so on - its really motivational. |

hey Carl - and Mandy! Carl I stopped smoking in 2001 and I had smoked since I was 13 - I was smoking 30 a day when I stopped. NB the word stopped - if you stop it is much more positive than 'giving up' which implies a sacrifice!
I stopped at the same time as my (now ex) husbandwho smoked 90 camels a day. Anyway - bottom line is both our experiences were completely different. And we had to be individually selfish. We nearly killed eachother, our colleagues, friends and families BUT (I am sure Mandy will agree) they all felt that it was worth it to see us off the fags. If it helps at all..I found it really really hard for the first 3 months - 1st 5 days killer, then periodical bad patches for 3 months. Then after a year and no lies - I am absolutely clear. I never ever have wanted another cigarette. Never resented anyone else for smoking and will never go back. My big tip...change all your habits as smoking fits around your whole life. So mix things up a bit. Change timetables as your body is in a routine. Take anything that will be a help but it is your willpower that will get you through. GL and dont go back to it cos you have already done the hardest thing and although you may feel like you are being bad you are really a hero in everyone's eyes! AND it is really really worth it. |

"BIG SLICK OWE ME 5"
pmsl "(- i don't need the 5 badly lol but it's the principle.)" oh, I see - "oi oi - first oif all.... i said i didn't want the 5 back now. so chill" - erm, your thread is saying that the club owe you money "i am glad that it was donated to charity but understand that i had no idea this was the case" - are you one of those people that have absolutely no idea what is going on around them? Do you drive for 8 miles without looking in your mirrors? Do you wander the pavements aimlessly, getting in everyone's way? Did u notice that queue at the bank when you spent 20 minutes interrogating the cashier? -from my point of view, it was as if the person had pocketed it. - OK OK I NICKED IT i feel tired and have had a few beers round a friends house..... and i am nice and didn't come on here to argue. - well wtf are you here to do? (Apart from accuse people of stealing and argue)! right - done what i logged on to do and will now be off. sorry if i offended anyone but i wanted to ask and did. i would also do it again. maybe in a different way.... but it is a shame that people have to gang up on a person and not add anything constructive to the question, conversation or thread. the title of the thread says it all :D |
|
By:
lol mavis. i ditto your thoughts.
|
|
By:
double ditto.
|

By:
treble that ditto :)

By:
mavis - i can assure you that i heard no announcement about the charity donation while i was there. that was from 11:30am onwards. there was no-one with a microphone etc. maybe it was only the select forumites who were told? if i had, i would have been fine with it.
also, the lady at the registration table told me she would find me. this led me to believe this would happen. if i had been told at the registration table that the plan was to donate the 5's then i would have had no problem. it's just that i was told it would be returned to me. it's like if you go into a restaurant and order something... you then wait for/expect it to arrive. i know none of you will dare to agree with me on this and it really is heartwarming to see you ''ditto'' each other. but my main point is that i wasn't told of the donation and was wrongly informed that i would be found at my table. it's not about the money. anyone willing to pay 115 for a buy-in with the statistical likelihood of going home with nothing will not covet 5. i started the thread as a comment about the service of the big slick.... not in order to recover the 5. it's not the cash... but the principle. |
|
By:
builder - ffs drop it mate.
|
|
By:
the buy ins were not handled by Big Slick, but by Carl and his wife.
I think even you could have worked that out. Not long after the start of the tourney Carl stood up and shouted very loudly does anyone really want their fiver then let me know or otherwise it goes to charity. I had my headphones on and I still heard it. I find it curious that you didn't speak up then but start a thread on the forum that honestly makes you look like a git. I don't give a stuff about what anyone else thinks of you, but in my books you're doing yourself no favours and frankly sound like a moron. |
|
By:
builder,
in all seriousness im going to give you some free advice that will hold you in good stead for the next few years. think about what you are going to say before you say it....then dont say anything...the world will become a better place for you gl:) |
|
By:
fine. say what you want.......
but when sh1ts like mavis and divaflava come on here ridiculing me then i am entitled to respond in the same way. i had no headphones and never heard it. i am glad it went to charity and would have agreed to it had i heard it. i also apologise for any offence caused. but this thread was intended as an enquiry and discussion and not a rant etc. i also entitled this thread incorrectly. sorry. |
|
By:
builder - you are not helping.
"shi1ts like...." enough now. please. dibs |

By:
builder , once again as clear as i can to avoid confusion
the people doing the buy ins were myself and mandy , although niffer helped out for ten mins when i nipped for a fag we genuinly had no fivers , nor did the club so mandy wrote a list down of people "we" owed a fiver to - i have that list in front of me and yes you are on it after i was knocked out and after a break myself, mandy and a lad from the slick sat down with the cash , we needed to adjust the prizes etc as originally they were worked on 132 runners the slick had already counted out the cash and made some envelopes up - so we needed to recount and adjust all the 10900 prize fund (109*100) was then worked out again and sealed in respective envelopes the money for the sweep was then put into two envelopes for winner and r up we then had the surpluss (raffle money and a couple of donations) unfortunatley we still had no fivers or at least not enough to go round anyway - mandy asked me should we go find everyone and tell them to split the tenners with someone else etc this involved disturbing around 8 tables at a stage where the next blind raise was big i decided to intervene - i went next to the table that was gonna be the final table and shouted as loud as i could "excuse me one minute , we still have no fivers , do you all really want me to run around all night trying to find some or are you happy to stick them in for charity" i must admit it was a bit of a loaded question - no one spoke then someone said stick them in the charity - i shouted "any objections" no one spoke again , i walked back and told mandy to stick the cash in charity all proceeds will be announced very soon on how much we raised etc and broken down to where it came from - i am hopeful after speaking to someone that the fund maybe upped slightly - thats the reason why it hasnt been done yet are you know happy that its took me 30 mins to fully explain exactly what went on if not then what is the next question ? i repeat my previous offer as well - if you want your fiver returning them please pick a HU room and you will be sorted |
|
By:
no - mandylou - i gathered that from before and that is fine.
i do not want the 5 back and an pleased that it went to charity as i would only have wasted it. i have apologised for causing offence on this thread and would like to do so again. i started this thread as i thought it was a representative of the big slick who had done the registration table and not you and your wife/partner. thinking this, it appearred as bad service. i now know this was not the case and accept that i missed the announcement. if i had heard the announcement i would have agreed. thank you for responding maturely and in a helpful manner on this thread unlike some of the others. |
|
By:
builder just reading this thread shows what a complete muppet you are. you asked for a fiver in a way that it was stole from you. surely you could have emailed someone rather than post on here and accuse someone of not returning a fiver. grow up you tool.
|

By:
lol wtf does it have to do with you? ^^^^
never seen you on here before. you can't even type 'anfield' correctly when registering your forum name. lmao. jog on. we have sorted it. no need for you to butt in. |
