Yesterday saw the first selection start off with a winner.
It wasn't a massive pay out at S.P 1/3 but had taken 1.49 on BF earlier.
When one takes into account the current interest rate of 2%, it wasn't a bad investment.
I don't like backing odds-on and there has to be good reason to do so.
The win rate of these double top is 2 in 7
Odds-on rate is 78 from 122 selects, and with a very miniscule profit, does not make backing all worthwhile.
Of the three Double Top qualifiers today only Desert Vision 4.45 Wolver is worthy of mention.
It's not that good a bet for me and certainly not at 2/5.
The basics say 4 out of 5 odds-on qualifiers in 3yo+ Claiming Stakes won.
The ratio of wins with 9yo runners is also 4 from 5.
Whilst it looks good there was one 9yo beaten when odds-on.
The record of DT's in Wolverhampton claimers is 2 from 5 and only due to recent wins at track by Stand Guard.
Mick Easterby is on the Cold List where Double Tops are concerned with no winners from 4 runners, including odds-on Hoofalong.
That may change today but won't be carrying my money.
