Daily Selections
BOOM - what a performance from Judy In Disguise -  25/1 at the time of selection yesterday - but the bet will be settled for account purposes at the sp of 12/1. Can't believe I am not getting more views here with profit figures like this !

Profit for May to date 12.5 points - profit for April was 22.5 points.

Plenty of racing today and my bets are both eyecatchers from last time:-

3.30 Windsor Midnight Rider 1pt win

Has similar conditions to last time when finishing second to Highland Colori who he meets on better terms. The jockey was not hard on him last time and I expect him to come out on top today.

4.50 Kempton Ashva 1pt win

Was nothing short of sensational at the track last time and was backed for the Lincloln over the winter but did not make the cut. Tough task today but could still be ahead of the handicapper.

One other eyecatcher from last time was Nine Realms in the 3.50 at Kempton but the price is a litte short at 3/1 on a different track so I will let it go unbacked - watch it win !!

Running profit for May at starting price plus 6 points - profit for April was 22.5 points.

Memory Cloth ran a cracker yesterday for yet another 6/1 second and The Osteopath clipped heels after a furlong which effectively put him out of the race even though he made up ground to finish an honourable sixth. No good for me though and a five point loss all in all on the day.

As for today :-

3.15 Newmarket Moonstone Magic 1pt win

The ability to go on the ground and current fitness is assured with this one and at 10/1 or thereabouts is worth a small bet to land the fillies classic. It is not an each way race and I have backed Laugh Out Loud at 66/1 ante post but bigger is available now in view of the ground as it has only won on the all weather.

2.55 Salisbury Judy In Disguise 0.5pts each way

This should go off at a big price and has it all to do but it was a good debut win and the yard knows the time of day with two year olds. The ground was on the easy side at Folkestone despite it being recorded as good to firm so no problems on that score. Ideally I would have preferred an extra furlong as it was doing all it's best work at the finish. Could spring a surprise but i don't want to risk more than 1 pt in total and I need all eight to go to post for each way terms.

Nothing else for today

Running profit for May at starting price plus 11 points - profit for April was 22.5 points.

Another good day yesterday with Powerful Presence storming home at 9/2 and Cymflimder trying really hard but not quite getting there. The form of the race in which Powerful Presence ran at Southwell is amazing with all of the first three going on to win well ; one of them, Memory Cloth, reappearing again today.

3.20 Thirsk The Osteopath 2pts each way

This horse got no run at all last time over a mile at Ripon in the race won by our friend Memory Cloth. He wouldn't have won but he would have been placed and he is slightly better over a the 7f trip today. This looks a slightly easier race and form lines through Layla's Hero give him a strong chance against Mujaadel and Defence Council. It is still a competitive handicap so 4/1 is available which will do for me.

2.00 Newmarket Memory Cloth 1 pt win

For all the reasons mentioned above I can't let this go unbacked. In the Southwell race he had the worse of the draw and with Powerful Presence going in again he still may be well handicapped. But this is much harder so just a 1 pt bet.

A great afternoon's racing to watch but no other bets for me though I did consider :-

3.10 Newmarket Talwar - in case it showed the early form of last year
8.30 Doncaster Golden Future - hosed in at Catterick but inconsistent

Good luck  - more tomorrow

Running profit for May at starting price plus 6.5 points - profit for April was 22.5 points.

Another dose of seconditus yesterday. Diamond Vine (6/1) was readily outpaced by the favourite but I managed to bag the exacta. Lady Phil (11/2) tried hard and may have come up against a decent rival but no excuses for Chookie Hamilton other than just a bad call. A loss of four points for the account so not too much damage done and confirmation that small stakes are the way forward until the ground improves.

I couldn't find much at Wolverhampton today but on the turf :-

4.00 Musselburgh Powerful Presence 1 pt win

The form of the Southwell race that it won last time is holding up well with Masai Moon winning next time and Memory Cloth doing us a favour on Saturday. This is tougher and unfortunately it is favourite today but as the race is competitive 9/2 is not too bad a price.

5.00 Musselburgh Cyflymder  1pt each way

I am surprised and pleased that this one turns out again after yesterday's run over furlong further. This looks easier and it was bang there at the distance yesterday. Horses turned out the following day often run well I find.

Nice to receive the comment yesterday - happy to see that you collected ! It would be nice to have more followers in view of the profits shown but the purpose of the blog is to prove to myself that profits can be made at starting price even with putting up bets every day.

Good luck all

Running profit for May at starting price plus 10.5 points - profit for April was 22.5 points.

A cracking start to the month with Colour Vision bolting up yesterday. As usual the bet will be settled  at the sp of 9/2 even though 6/1 plus was available at the time of posting.

Nothing too brilliant today so still low stakes :-

3.10 Lingfield Diamond Vine 1 pt win

Aye Aye Digby is the rightful favourite here but there is a chance it may not be fully wound up after a break
of 161 days. Diamond Vine has good course form and ran well above it's rating last time here. I fully expect him to be at least second today and the price of 8/1 available here at the moment is good enough.

3.30 Musselburgh Chookie Hamilton 1 pt ew

This horse has good course form and also handles the surface. It is around 6/1 now and will be difficult to keep out of the frame.

5.05 Brighton Lady Phil  1 pt win

This speedily bred horse completely missed the break last time yet still finished close up and should gain compensation today at the same venue.

Running profit for May at starting price plus 7 points - profit for April was 22.5 points.

A good start to the month with Jocasta Dawn going in at a generous 5/1. The ride given to Catalinas Diamond was ambitious to say the least but it almost made the frame anyway - a tad unlucky perhaps.

3.45 Kempton Colour Vision 1pt win

This race is wide open and they all have a chance including Electrolyser which is very big at 14/1. However, using form lines through Opinion Poll, Colour Vision has as good a chance as any and is also overpriced at 7/1. Worth a small interest at the price.

4.40 Pontefract Zain Princess 1pt win

This filly just keeps on getting better and was very impressive last time being held up off the pace and winning very decisively at Wolverhampton. A couple of worries are the ground (some hope on breeding) and also this is not a course for a hold up ride. The price at present is 7/1 which just about offers value despite the above concerns.

The other ones I like today are Edmaaj and Lyric Ace which are both too short and possibly Bannock but it has a bad draw so just the two for today

Final profit for April at starting price plus 22.5 points.

A good profit for the month and off we go again to achieve hopefully a similar result this month. Laughing Jack ran another race of promise yesterday to finish third at 12/1 but he was never put in the race at any stage and there must be more to come from him maybe when the money is down.

2.00 Lingfield Amphora 1 pt win

I thought this was slightly over priced this morning. It obviously has Khubala to beat but it ran well on it's return from a break at Kempton and came up against at least two smart ones that day. A reproduction may well be good enough today.

4.00 Lingfield Catalina's Diamond 1pt each way

Missed the break last time but goes well here and at 8/1 looks good value as should make the frame at least.

2.40 Yarmouth Jocasta Dawn 2 pts win

Went into the notebook last time the only worry today is the ground of course. Should handle it on pedigree and it's sensible trainer would probably not risk her if he felt there was a problem. Against these exposed rivals she should be good enough but the ground is enough to limit the bet to two points.

Running profit for April 23.5 points at starting price

Memory Cloth did the business for us on Saturday at 13/2 and we should have collected each way fron The Osteopath who got a troubled run to say the least. One for next time perhaps.

4.15 Kempton Laughing Jack 1pt win

I thought this ran well last time under a considerate ride but it was fit from hurdling so it was not quite as good as I initially thought. It will be better over this longer trip so a 1pt wager is suggested.

The best race of the day is the 5.15 but, after much deliberation, I will pass as I will at Wolverhapton to watch the football !

Running profit for April 17.5 points at starting price

The aim of this blog if to provide a profit each month based at starting price and this will be acheived in April in what I consider to have been an extremely challenging month with the ground conditions as they are and horses returning after long breaks.

The place lay of Dubawi Gold was the highlight of yesterday but I lost on the day and the above profit figure reflects this. Today is more of the same and I am only playing in one race :-

2.20 Ripon Memory Cloth 1pt ew and The Osteopath 1pt ew

The meeting has been given the go ahead and I am hoping that at least 16 stand their ground and four places are available - if so then it's each way both selections. I am taking the slight liberty, as it is 10.20 am, to say that the bets should be 1 pt win only if less than 16 run. I think that is fair enough when the profit is calculate at starting price.

The Osteopath was impressive last time under similar conditions and is only up 3lbs whereas Memory Cloth has form in France on the ground and ran really well at Southwell from a poor draw. I am confident one of these will win but don't know which !

In view of the ground I am not risking anything else today and with no flat racing tomorrow will return on Monday

Running profit for April plus 21.5 points at starting price

Much like earlier this month three seconds yesterday. Resplendant Alpha mananged to throw away victory and looked an impossible ride. Russian Storm gave way to a 24 race maiden after going clear - hey ho !

1.15 Sandown Wicked Wench 0.5 pt each way

I have been waiting for this one to re appear in a lowish grade handicap on soft ground and they run it in a class two at Sandown 4 lbs out of the weights. Even so I have backed it already and will probably incude it in a few forecasts as turn ups will happen on ground like today's.

2.20 Sandown Famous Name 2pts win

Just can't have Dubawi Gold in this despite Richard Hannon's record in the race. Famous Name looks to be better than the others but will place lay the favourite as well as Penitent and Questioning hold outside chances.

5.00 Doncaster Mayoman 1 pt win

Much will depend on the draw here but Mayoman is currently 9/1 whereas I had him in at 5/1 so will risk a small bet
