They're talking as if Wiggins isnt going to be wearing the Sky skinsuit. Saying the yellow jersey is going to cost 2-3 seconds per km, which would be 80-120 seconds Shocked

Poor old Tony Martin, another puncture in a TT. New clincher supplier must be breaking into a mild embarrassed sweat

Need to know what Wiggins is wearing, official yellow skinsuit, or adapted yellow Sky skinsuit

Can only repeat what Gary I said yesterday when summing up on ITV4.  Sky have made and will be allowed to use their own yellow skin suit. If that wasn't the case, and it is worth over 60 seconds to have Wiggo wear one, he would have let Evans finish 11 seconds in front of him yesterday and gain upwards of net 49 seconds...

I knew they had made one, and tested it, but they weren't allowed to wear it in the Dauphine, and Eurosport have just been saying they aren't allowed to wear it here either...

That must be the up to date information then sadly.

Have been tweeting people to find out if anyone can give confirmation

if that is the case, and the sky suit is that good, why on earth would he try to take yellow before this TT?
By:

When: 09 Jul 12 13:41
Well in the Dauphine he still kicked all the other contenders' **** even with the official yellow suit on

The suit is a bit of a distraction. Legs might be more relevant!

I think Cancellara and Wiggo will beat Martin's time, possibly Evans and Froome as well
By:
marychain1
When: 09 Jul 12 13:50
@laroche Yeah, but is it the official skinsuit? Wiggins will be in a yellow skinsuit, the key thing is whether it is the official one, or the much faster Sky one with the official badges on it.

If Martin doesn't win this today he won't ride tomorrow IMO. Concentrate on the Olympics.

He wont ride tomorrow, whether he wins this or not imo as its a rest day Grin

Eurosport saying they're keeping it under wraps but reckon on balance he will be in the faster Sky suit Happy

Well .... the riders usually still ride out just to keep the limbs loose. That's the best I can come up with!

Am late to the party (work, grr). I would back a fully fit Martin over Spartacus all day long but I've gone against him here. Am reading he had another puncture which is desperately unlucky for him. In the main though I was swayed by Millar's comments earlier that this was more a GC contenders course than a pure ITT course.

Have laid him for Top 3 but guess I'll only know if that was a good idea when Fabian comes in.

Had a cheeky bet on Wiggo and Froome based on a gut feeling more than anything else. No idea what Evans will do. Could be anything from within 10 seconds to down a minute. That said, I've not gone crazy with Wiggins because his Vuelta time trial in similar circumstances was a bit 'meh', even allowing for his collarbone etc. I hope the pressure doesn't get to him today but I can see it happening.

I'm on Martin @ a shrooood 9/1 and Froome at 25/1 each-way (3 places with Laddies). Tried to get on Evans at 25/1 each-way when Martin's puncture was confirmed but everyone was win only at that stage. The way my luck has been this week, Martin will keep Froome out of the top 3

Vuelta was at 1000m altitude and 37 degrees ... Wiggo's excuse, not mine!

When: 09 Jul 12 14:07
Haha, thanks HoD that's good to know. Wiggo did do a good prologue although he started slowly. If there's a market panic after the first time check there might be some value :)

Lol Sandy Casar has just gone through the first check just 7 seconds off of Martin. He's not even on any of the markets!

^ that is funny alright. Jens Voight must have thought someone spiked his breakfast when he went through the first time check just 9 secs down on Martin. At that stage he wouldn't have known about the puncture.

I reckon more than 1 min
By:

When: 09 Jul 12 14:15
True! He'll probably slow down from here mind. Reading a bit more about Wiggins' Vuelta TT. On record as saying he went out too fast and won't make the same mistake again. He'll have the benefit of knowing what time Evans went through in up the road but I can forsee them being closer than expected at the first check and him perhaps putting the hammer down in the second half.

Just the three minute gap to make up! That would move the GC market and then some mind :)
