Hodgson taken into 1.44 either early this morning or late last night.  I did not dare to lay him so I don't know what time that occurred at but it would appear to be a dangerous move to oppose Hodgson unless that plunge was a late night alcohol fueled irrational punt.

I wonder if Betfair has spoiled the fun with these markets with it's painful recent settlements/voidings. Much less liquidity than there used to be. Still not convinced about Woy but am neutral on him

I made this thread a few days back on the football forum.  I got one reply...

I saw and and genuinely thought that you were fishing, hence the reason that I did not respond.

I'm very rarely in there now TP. It's gone downhill I think since the upgrade and I really can't be bothered to wade through the nonsense.

I was part fishing (Capello has a lot of fans whereas I think he doesn't deserve the credit he's received for his England work) and part being serious (I expect Hodgson would take the England job and so the price on him being Liverpool manager was too short).

It is full of nonsense.  I just use it to vent frustration every now and then.  I don't think I'll be using it much from now on, it really is a waste of time.

I know it is sad but it amuses me to wind them up, so I will doubtless continue to contribute, if that is the correct term.  [;)]However reading what they say often points to where the mug money is going and very occasionally where the smart money is going.  So I will keep looking.

Horangi has had some sensible things to say on the Liverpool market although I do get the feeling he is weighted towards Pelligrini.

Here is a thought:  What will happen to Hodgsons odds if England qualify or don't qualify this afternoon?

I expect I will just modestly play any over reactions as I sit pretty on this market right now.

Yep, England qualify and Hodgson shortens.  I get so focussed on what I'm doing that I often forget to think.  Although I'd never have 'wasted' my time at 1.01!  Well played.

I think the Mirror said he'd flown back from South Africa to conclude a deal.  I forgot to check if he was on the BBC panel yesterday.

That is fairly consistent with what the rest of the media have been saying just except one report suggested that Dalglish was unimpressed with Pellegrini.


It would be brave and some might say foolish to oppose Hodgson at this stage.

Hodgson is apparently stalling as a result of the instability in the boardroom and Liverpool have approached Marseille to speak with Deschamps.

Why would Marseille make this public? It suggests to me that they're worried Deschamps might be interested.  This could get very interesting, I'd love to have seen Hodgsons reaction to hearing this story.

Until the numbers start talking to me I am not going to lay Hodgson.  The numbers are not talking right now although they might when I sleep.

I suppose publicity makes compensation deals more expensive these days. Deschamps is probably a good fit for them

Deschamps has ruled himself out which seems to leave Pellegrini as the main alternative if the Hodgson deal breaks down.

A lot depends on the Capello situation.  He clearly (well, as clearly as his 'English' allows him) stated he won't resign. 

Whether the FA and him come to an agreement is a different matter but my guess is they'll stick with him. 

I think Hodgson's delaying is/was a tactic to allow him to wait and see what happens/ed with Capello and less to do with the Liverpool boardroom toil (which was clear to him before his talks).

They've just renegotiated his contract to remove a break clause.  They'll be ridiculed if they then fork out compensation of £5m-£10m because of this.

I think much of the blame this time will be with the players and that we don't produce the right type of players.  I think Fabio's club record (which is peerless bar Mourinho) will cause this shift of focus.

It is not a market that I have played but I see that Liverpool are drifting on the Premiership win market.  Surprising but even at 15.5-16.0 I am not the slightest bit tempted to back.

There are tiny amounts of money sitting under the radar if you are looking to shed greens.  Moyes at 350.0 is the best one.
