Ducks are my pre-season #1. Annoyingly I suspect that any unbeaten SEC team will go to the national championship automatically, so I'm hoping they slit each others throats so we can see an Oregon - Oklahoma final.
My conference picks (with some deliberately speculative choices): ACC: Virginia Tech Big East: West Virginia Big 10: Michigan State Big 12: Oklahoma Pac 12: Oregon SEC: Arkansas C-USA: Tulsa MAC: Northern Illinois Mountain West: TCU Sun Belt: Troy WAC: Nevada |

Treble let down by half a point in the Wisconsin game.Wisconsin are going to beat up a lot of teams at home this year like they did last night but lets face it UNLV were no great shakes. Wilson (this years Cam Newton anyone?) wasnt touched last night and had all the time in the world to pull the strings. The worrying thing for Wisconsin was defence. There was times when UNLV did play action and the defence hadnt a clue what was going on and they looked really vunerable to speed on the outside. Syracuse were brutal in the first half by all accounts and in the end were lucky to get the win. Even luckier to cover the spread as they had a fieldgoal blocked from 33 yards with 2 minutes left. Western Kentucky are going to be a team to keep onside this year. They are all about defence and they should hopefully be covering a lot of handicaps this season. |

Would agree about the prospects for the Ducks but the decision to start at LSU could blow up in their faces. The SEC remains a strong division and the national champions may emerge from their divisions again.

Just realised the LSU - Oregon game is played at a neutral venue (Arlington Texas)...would not put anyone off backing Oregon in a high scoring game.

Tenpins, tomorrow nights game is being played at Cowboy Stadium.
Two LSU players including the QB got into a barroom brawl last week and are suspended for the game heres the link. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/6898211/lsu-players-turn-arrest-warrants-issued When the line opened originally Oregon were +3 but after the LSU players got suspended it has since moved to Oregon -3.5. I just cant see them losing tomorrow night and i can see them covering at least 7 points. |

Think I'm right in saying that the game was scheduled back when Oregon were just a pretty good Pac-10 team. It might be more accurate to say that it's blown up in LSU's face. |

What a game last night between TCU and Baylor. I think its fair to say that TCU defence is a shadow of last years one. Griffin III and Kendall Wright were very impressive for Baylor possible Heisman contenders?

Small treble on tonights games.
Boise State -3 Oregon -3.5 Oklahoma -24.5 Tough opener for Boise in Atlanta against Georgia.3 Boise starters are sitting this one out due to question marks over their eligibility. Kellen Moore remains at QB for Boise and even though he lost his two favourite target men to the NFL i think they will have too much on offence for Georgia. Add to the mix that Boise are returning 7 starters on a defence that was very good last year and i think this one is there for Boise. The case for Oregon has already been made and i reckon they will cover by at least 7 tonight. Number one ranked team Oklahoma entertain a Tulsa team returning 10 starters on offence tonight and 8 on defence. I can see Tulsa putting up a good offensive fight but i just cant see them stopping Oklahomas high octane offence led by a Heisman favourite Landry Jones. I think the Sooners will put up at least 50 points tonight and cover the spread. If the Sooners defence can get on top early this could be a real blowout. |

Anyone have any thoughts on LSU @ Mississippi State???
1.60 about LSU looks decent to me, but then the SEC is pretty crazy. |

Well we know what LSU bring to the table in terms of defence and especially against the run. They did a great job in restricting and forcing turnovers against the high powered Oregon offence and thats a better offence than the one they will face tonight. Miss. State have a good running game and have put up big numbers on the ground but they have been against two bad defences and i just cant see them having success tonight against the fierce LSU defence.
On offence for LSU they are still without their No. one QB who is suspended indefinitely and their star wide reciever who is serving the last game of a three game suspension. Jarrett Lee has done well coming in at QB and has protected the ball well. He only played the first half of last weeks blowout win so he will be fresh for tonights game. Its a short week for both teams having both played on Saturday. LSU were at home in a blowout win where they were able to give some of their starters a rest in the second half whereas Miss State were in Auburn in a tough loss to an Auburn team that is a shadow of last years team. Its Miss States first home game of the season and the stadium will be rocking tonight. Although LSU played Oregon in Cowboy Stadium it was practically a home game for them with the amount of support they had. If Jarrett Lee can continue to protect the ball on the LSU offence and keep turnovers to none or a minimum then i think the LSU defence will be strong enough to come out on top and give him good field position to work with. 1.60 is a good price i make this 1.40 to LSU and i can see them covering the 3.5 point spread. Good Luck. |

^^^ Good call^^^
Haven't watched the game yet, but the stats seem to suggest the LSU Defense was dominant and that their Offense did enough. It's worth knowing that Michigan State @ Notre Dame will be on Euro Sport 2 this weekend according to Oddschecker. I think Michigan State at 2.8 is quite appealing I was expecting ND to be slight favourites maybe around the 1.80/1.90 mark. ND can win this if they can keep a hold of the ball as been the turnovers that have cost them this year, I see they got 500+ yards each game but then USF & Michigan aren't the same standard as MSU. |

Cheers ND47. The LSU defence was excellent last night and if it wasnt for some silly penalties in the 3rd quarter they would have restricted Miss State to 3 points. For fans of defensive football, pencil in 5th of November when LSU travel to Alabama in what could be a winner goes to the Championship game.
Tonights action is Boise State @ Toledo on ESPN at 1am. Toledo came really close last week to upsetting ranked Ohio State and in the end only lost by 5 points in Ohio State. They are coming off 6 days rest after a tough away game whereas Boise has had 13 days rest after a very impressive win against Georgia in a hostile Atlanta, so playing in Tolede will pose no problems to them. In Kellen Moore Boise have one of the best QB's in College Football at the moment. Excellent arm and runs the offence excellantly. The Boise defence is very good and returns 7 starters from last year. Boise play with a chip on their shoulder as they are always classed as the little team. They have changed conference this year to try and give themselves a better chance of playing in the National Championship game if they run the table. Boise went to town last year on Toledo beating them 57-14. It is a better Toledo team they are facing this year but Boise hold all the aces in all the positions. The spread opened up at 17.5 it has moved all week and now stands at 20.5. This Boise team is well rested, well coached and full of talent and should cover 3 touchdowns tonight. Hopefully the ESPN cameras will pick out Mrs. Kellen Moore in the stands tonight ![]() Good Luck. |

A few games to look at today.
Wisconsin -17 Wisconsin take on Northern Illinois today at a neutral venue and i cant believe they are only giving up 17 points. Wisconsin have been on fire in two games so far putting up 86 points on offence and a defense who is coming off the back of a shutout against Oregon State. They play a Northern Illinois team today who gave up 534 yards and 42 points against Kentucky and 409 yards and 24 points to Army. Russell Wilson Wisconsins QB will be licking his lips looking at them numbers and i cant see Northern Illinois stopping him at all. Wisconsin play tough defensive football and they should be able to restrict what has been a high scoring Northern Illinois offence so far this year. If Wisconsin get an early lead this could be a real blowout. Alabama -47 47 points is a hell of a lot of points to be giving up to anybody but its fair to say this is a complete mismatch. Alabama have one of the best defences in college football and North Texas have shown nothing at all in their first two games offensively. The fact the spread is 47 but the points total is only 56 says it all, this one could and probably should be a shutout for the Crimson Tide defence. North Texas defence has given up 401 yards and 41 points to Florida Athletic and 690 yards and 48 points to Houston and neither of them teams would be anywhere near Alabamas standard. Nick Saban WILL pull some of his starters when they have a big lead but the guys coming in will be no mugs. There is fierce competition for places in Alabama and the guys coming in will be wanting to prove themselves to the coach. |
|
By:
Not a fan of backing big spreads... So often teams will put 28 points or so up by H/T only to take the foot off in the 2nd half.
North Texas are pony though. |
|
By:
Alabama -12.5 and South Dakota +45.5
Alabama should be up to covering two TD's at home to Arkansas and with Wisconsin playing a big game next weekend against Nebraska they should take the foot off the peddle tonight and South Dakota should cover. More later. Good Luck |
|
By:
Fancy Arkansas to cover myself buy should be a good game
|
|
By:
where the **** the bama game??
|
|
By:
Two for the late games.
Oregon -15.5 Oregon have been racking up the points since the opening day loss to LSU and tonight they come up against an Arizona team who gave up 37 points and 567 yards to Andrew Luck and Stanford and 594 yards and 37 points to Oklahoma State in the last two weeks. Arizona are a very poor running team but very good through the air. Oregon should be able to put a high score up on offence and hopefully have a few interceptions on defence. Boise State -27.5 The line in this has moved down from 33.5 to 27.5. Boise State have absolute zero confidence in their field goal kicker so they will be going for it on 4th down anytime they are at the 20-35 yard line. If Kellen Moore has a good night and they convert some of those then they will hammer Tulsa. Kellen Moore had a great game last week against Toledo and picked them apart at will. I thought the Boise defence would have benefited from the extended rest between games but they looked very slow starting off last week and hopefully that game has taken the rust off. Good Luck. |

Baseball playoffs playing havoc with the TV schedule today.
LSU -30. I think the line is about 10 points too low here. LSU should be hammering a poor Kentucky team in their first home game of the season at Batton Rouge. |
