Wings v Habs game is starting to remind yesterday's Caps v Pants game..lots and lots of power play on hometeam in the 1st period without a goal. Momentum is the key and Habs are going to get it to be honest.

Well well I was wrong..1.2sec left was enough to reduce 1-1 and this game is still open.LaughCool

Habs must be mentally wrecked after conceding 5 power plays in a period , they need to freshen the brain and pretend the game hasn't started yet , providing they get through the first 22 secs in P2

Long long way to go though but can't remember a team winning after being SH 6 times in the opening 23 mins of play , that's mentally challenging to the extreme but experience in the team and they may re-group and come back strongly , not even half way yet

Yes, it is long time to wait..Habs definitely will get some chances and Howard must take 1-4 spectacular saves at the right time. We all know Babcock & his staff really know how to get all the best out of their players in these circumstances. I don't underreact Habs' capable of take the momentum back again and really challenge Wings here. But somebody says to me this is not their night.

I remember one skilled NHL player just recently said in public Joe Louis Arena the most worstest place to play if we comparing how the referees judge there. He meant by that awayteams always get there much more penalties than Wings and very often some of them are more or less weird. Don't know if it's still true though..

True. Another interesting game to watch, too. Too bad these teams don't meet very often. It has been a fantastic game to follow so far no matter what the result is/or will be. It's always nice to see top teams challenge for real each others.

What an excellent game to watch it was. Habs really took a momentum back in 3rd..we don't see very often visitors take shots 18-3 in 3rd at JL Arena, do we? Howard took more than 1-4 spectacular saves I mensionded earlier and have to admit Wings would not have won in 60mins without him that's for sure. Anyhow, gl everyone who got this game right including me.

yes great tussle , Habs have fantastic battling qualities when they want to as we witnessed beating both Pens and Caps in the play-offs last season.

Well done winners  Happy

Here is what I reckon is a really compelling case for the price of Dallas to be ahead at 20 minutes to be a balls-up by the books.

Toronto's first period in 19 matches:  Ahead in 5, tied in 4 and behind in 10 (over 50%)
Dallas' first period in 18 matches :  Ahead in 9(50%), tied in 3 and behind in 6.

Now lets throw in the extra pearl - Toronto have failed to score in the first period in 11 of 19.  Dallas have scored in the first period in all but 3 of their matches.

I may well lose this bet tonight, but on the statistical evidence, Dallas should not be 41/20 to be ahead at 20 minutes.

Sorry to drag up this old chestnut - but I'm going to update.  Since I noticed Toronto were hopeless in the first period they have played 9 times.  In 5 first periods they have failed to score and in 6 of those 9 they have been behind.  The season running totals are therefore 16/28 first periods Leafs have drawn a blank, and 16/28 first periods they have been behind.  As the sample grows, the case against the Leafs becomes ever more damning.  Tonight they take on Montreal.  Admittedly The Habs put massive effort in last night for no reward at Detroit - but they skated the Wings off the rink, especially towards the end when the Wings were just shooting the puck away.  Now tonight I am hoping The Habs come out firing in the hope of putting the game to bed early.  They are 7/4 to win the 1st period which is simply far too big.

Good Luck Cool

Just to complete the essay, Habs have only been behind in 1 of last 15 1st periods (admittedly 7 have been tied) so a dutch of Habs and the tie would look statistically to be a particularly strong bet.  7/4 Habs, 13/8 Tie with sky

Absolutely gutted.

How can these be the same people that played Detroit off the ice?

And who put Wurzel Gummidge in goal.

From the pocket of course, but that was completely abject

Habs left a lot on the ice last night tbh , out shot Wings 19-3 in the final period whilst Leaf's had a night off , scheduling having an impact on this game so far with the fresher team showing just that , long long way to go though and the next period could look different.
Bottom line here is that Habs are the perceived better team but the schedule isn't in their favour......that generally means it can cancel out to a no bet whether it's on TV or not.

Good luck mate  Happy

Hayden - I absolutely agree with you re. scheduling.  But that being the case, wouldn't you have thought Montreal would come out all guns blazing?  They are hardly likely to be able to pick it up from here - they'd have to stay on better than Earth Summit winning the fooking National.

I find their performance baffling - especially given this is a last big effort before 4 nights off.....

FWIW I've got loose change on the following acca

CBJ ML
Pens ML
Lay SL in 60
Lay Caps in 60

Partially after-timed - currently going OK - still annoyed to the point of fury Sad

More often than not drew I would think the opposite , not an exact science but suspect the early buzz was pre-planned from Leaf's after watching Habs expend so much energy in that brilliant final period last night , probably a case of good enough intentions but the legs and mind not able to to go for it.
Strange thing about these lethargic starts is that the 3rd period ends up being the key in that they collapse or get a 2nd wind they hardly knew existed.....with some rest days to come they could be anything later in the game tbh.

Sorry didn't see your last post before I posted mine , plenty of good games left tonight Happy

tHIS REALLY IS INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE FROM THE HABS
By:
Hayden
When: 12 Dec 10 01:35
Think last night we agreed the 5th goal was the key as 4-1 would have mean't game over but when 3-2 it was throw the sink at Redwings and see what happens , not a case of not being bothered but strategizing when to turn up the heat , last night they gave everything when the opportunity presented itself but it's killed them tonight unless they get a 2nd wind , the regular NHL season is probably the most intensely difficult and demanding in any sport with over 80 games and all the travel involved and it's never an exact science at any given time.

Look at Caps tonight , lost 4 games in under a week and they still start at sub 1.8 regulation against an in-form team tonight because the public absolutely love them  Grin

One goal can make a difference and it will be the whole new game then. I still think so Habs got some energy left. Spacek's upper body injury during the 1st period makes their downstairs more vulnerable but the opera is not over yet, guys.

If anyone is still around, which i the best book to go to to get a bit of cover for the SL game.

Started the night seething, now just need this game to go to OT or SL lose to get a pretty good payout - Backed the acca with Billys and then when I found I'd been a little short changed backed it again on here! Shocked

Thanks in advance
