Yankees below their best the past 7-10 days. By their own admission, they were very poor in their series away at the D-Backs and Dodgers. Poor hitting, poor pitching, poor base running and a few fielding errors. They managed to pull a couple of games out of the fire at the death, but the players were saying how poor they'd been.

Against Seattle, there are not many pairs of starting pitchers better than Cliff Lee and Felix Hernandez. You'd still expect them to do better though. I was against the Yankees last night but not tonight (apart from Sodiology's tenner of course!).

It is likely to be entirely different tomorrow against Rowland-Smith.

Yeah Hernandez is quality, You don't shut the NYY down every day of the week. Don't know wether it has happened this year but I remember one from last season. I managed to red out when Mariners went 5-0 up for a small loss. Now I know why the run line was so low.

WD to the Mariners for the back to back wins though

Cheers although it lost. :D

Started a new system last night, lost too much on baseball recently, so trying to cut down but still have a bet.

I did a lucky 15 on 4 matches both teams to score. (1/12, 1/8, 1/10 & 1/5). On average it seems there is 1 or 2 games a night where there is a shutout. Last night i got all 4 up, making £15 into £19.34. Now obviously that doesnt seem a lot but £150 into £193.40 would be a decent amount in my eyes, if 1 lets you do your looking at getting half your stake back.

It feels and seems like a mug bet, or do you think it could be profitable in the long run?

You'd need to get statistics for how often each team fails to score a run to see if the odds are worthwhile. I'm guessing you're not getting fair prices, but if you're selective you never know. I don't have the stats to hand.

yankees on early today?

Yeah the Yankees start at 18:05 GMT Chelsea_Blue... Make sure you don't back them at 1.3 though...

With that pitching matchup, I would and have backed them around 1.3.

I think it too short for any game, especially since the Yankees are on a two game losing streak and the Mariners are starting to get hot...

Overs for me
By:

When: 01 Jul 10 17:10
Masterson looks like he is switched on today and the wind is blowing in from right field so overs may be risky...

I was close to backing Over 8 runs, but just wasn't quite high enough odds.

I've backed the Blue Jays each of the last three nights and lost. They've been unable to get hits when needed and have been a bit careless in the field. Stats point to them being good value again so I've backed them for the fourth night running. Hopefully fourth time lucky.

I saw them drift in the market (probably because of their line-up) so what price did you get?
By:
Bottom_of_the_League

1.84 or so.

A good price considering the pitching match up but the Jays have been cold [:(]
By:
Bottom_of_the_League
When: 01 Jul 10 17:21
Difficult one. Good price if you take the game in isolation, not so good if you closely factor in the last four games. I tend to think that a four game losing streak isn't so crucial, teams can snap out of it any time.

They've been falling behind early and not quite being able to get back into it. A hit here would be helpful.

Ignore yesterday. Jesse Litsch shouldn't even be pitching - Cito has rushed him back to early.
The previous 2 games were one run losses, so I would be inclined to not worry too much about a 4 game losing streak.

See you've been winding the football forum clowns up tai.

Just Bati Gol really Reg, I don't think I've ever known anyone try to have an argument by using 100% incorrect statements, but there you go.

Made for some good reading. Makes you realise sometimes exactly where the money you're winning is coming from when there are people who pray at the ARod altar.

Made a good living laying the Yankees on here for years, although over the past two or three years their home win percentage is higher than before so have to be more selective these days.

Blue Jays have had five chances so far to get a man home from second and haven't managed it. Same story as the past few days.

so are we thinking overs in the yankees game?

cant back them at 1.3

When: 01 Jul 10 17:50
Getting Molina to 3rd was special. They just seem to lack in the clutch - Bautista swinging at the first pitch he saw with 2 on and 2 out just shows that they're not being told to do the right thing.
By:

When: 01 Jul 10 17:52
The wind should be carrying the ball out of Yankee stadium so overs is probably the best bet. I wouldn't back it at 1.88 myself so it's up to you..
By:

When: 01 Jul 10 17:54
done overs at 1.88

hoping for the yankees offence to turn up tonight

a couple of grand slams from A ROD Silly

Blue Jays have been swinging for the fences all season by design, hence the low batting averages and high home runs (as you know already of course). When it doesn't come off, it looks bad and it hasn't been coming off this week sadly.

Personally I'd rather back NYY -1.5 in the mid 1.6's than Over at the price. Either way, bring on the A Rod grand slams.

I know A-Rod is clutch but 3 of his team mates have more home runs than him so far, cheer them on as well [:p]

Dear me, strike zone the size of China all night, then suddenly giving Marcum nothing. Should've been strike three called there.

The wind in Yankee stadium is from the NW - it's blowing from LF to RF. I would think that it's going to favour left handed hitters but righties might struggle.

Jays aren't coming back from this. You've done your dough I'm afraid.

Absolutely, lost the game in the blink of an eye. Didn't see it coming, but that's baseball. Trust me to back against the Indians the only time they had a good spell.   Laugh
