Hayden, we get all four opening night games here but I am most looking forward to Vancouver @ Calgary.
By:
Would have preferred Caps @ Bruins
By:
would normally agree panda but the Kessel signing , the opposition and the way the Leaf's pre-season games have gone ( beat Wings 5-4 last night ) make this a must for TV imo.
By:
What is the actual start date of the first match of the season proper, presumably it is played in Europe as per recent seasons??
By:
midnight UK time on thursday 1st Oct , Caps @ Bruins and Habs in Toronto , followed at 3am UK time by Sharks in Colorado and Canucks @ Flames , the ESPN live games are in Toronto and Colorado.

Well TSN are down to the last 4 in their rankings for the upcoming season, this is how they have it so far:
30. Phoenix 20. Nashville 10. Chicago 29. Colorado 19. Buffalo 9. Philly 28. Islanders 18. Montreal 8. New Jersey 27. Tampa 17. Calgary 7. Carolina 26. Atlanta 16. Edmonton 6. Vancouver 25. Toronto 15. Florida 5. Washington 24. Ottawa 14. Minnesota 23. LA Kings 13. Columbus 22. Rangers 12. St.Louis 21. Dallas 11. Anaheim I'd expect Bruins next, and then Sharks, Wings and Pens 1st. Leafs/Rangers/Flames/Hawks ranked too low imo. Probably Habs too. What do you think Hayden? |
By:
That came out a little squished, but you get the point ;)
By:
Couldn't disagree with anything you've said panda tbh , not sure we'll get much from Habs this season but would have Hawks and Flames higher , Leaf's could be anything tbh and it may be wise to cash in early on the total goals market even though Kessel will be missing for several weeks they have to adopt the we will score one more goal than you strategy I think , they will need to capitalize on a 5.4 million a year signing and play to his strengths so expect the goals to come thick and fast at both ends just as they have been pre-season.

By:
Now watching Wings @ Leafs. Should be a good game.
By:
Thanks for the info Haydn
By:
Hayden do you know if the Wings-Pens game is on anywhere?
By:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel-popup/red-wings-live
Pens 1-0 |
By:
1-1 now
By:
Wow, thanks :)
How important is pre season? do the results mean much? In football(soccer) they mean very little. |
By:
maybe more important in this sport tbh , good to test strategies and new methods , also can make a statement or two.
By:
2-1 Wings
By:
Ana @ 11? I have them lower than that.
By:
Pre season also means a lot of good scraps lol got to get warmed up !!! Anyone see Lucic vs Neil?
By:
When you saw lower, do you mean better(as in top 10) or a worse ranking?
By:
say* sorry
By:
Sorry I think they are worse than the ratings given. Pronger will be a huge loss imo
By:
jeez 13 goals in the Leaf's game tonight v Buffalo , hope their overs prices not going to be silly when season starts.
By:
TSN have Sharks at 4 and Wings 3rd. Thought they'd be 2nd.
Any fancies for Thursday Hayden? Teams on home ice must fancy their chances? |
By:
fancy goals in Toronto but depends how the line is pitched , it may be put in at 6.5 who knows atm.
By:
Going to have a good look at the Vancouver-Calgary prices as soon as we see a bit more liquidity in the market.
Only a couple days to go now! |
By:
Signing in for the season.
Just as a thought. Does anyone use the ELO Ratings as a guide. And if so,whats your opinion on them |
By:
have looked at before but a while ago and it looked a bit over complex to me when reading up on wikipedia , do you use it and is it worth exploring more iyo west ?
By:
I have once the season is in full flow. I tend to just use the VS top 10/16 as a guide only which has helped me in the past

Hi Guys I am also looking forward to the NHL season - I have not watched any Ice Hockey for years but I used to bet on it about 6 years ago. I used to be proper into it when The Dallas Stars were top dogs and my favourite player was that Jaramiah Jager (I think he used to play for the penguins). He was awesome.
I know nothing about todays game but I will be watching with avid pleasure and look forward to punting on it I bet every night on mlb and look forward to doing the same on NHL as I think I suffer from insomnia lol Top sport GL |
By:
welcome NBK , have spotted you on the mlb threads so feel free to post any good baseball info , sometimes we diversify into MLB and NFL on the thread , I also suffer from insomnia and find it impossible to sleep when I know there's a live game on.
By:
TYVM Hayden look forward to it -Unfortunatley got a holiday booked next friday so am gonna miss the end of the mlb and the start of the NHL (which may not be a bad thing)
Is Jager still playing and I looked at the NHL site and the Stars don't seem to be in there. Had quite a succesful couple of months on the mlb and hopefully I can carry that forward to NHL which probably has the same type of formulas. Heres hoping anyway Be lucky |

By:
Hayden, Im surprised you're not going to nip up to Sweden or Finland for the opening weekend games.
By:
would travel a lot more if possible benrik but this full time punting is very time consuming , would have more time if I worked for someone probably.........lol
By:
The ticket prices were horrendous this year I was going to go over but was quoted 8 times the amount of the prices that I paid for the tickets at the O2 in London.
