Nothing doing this weekend although a few in the notebook from today.

Of today, Mass Rally wasn't far off a place in 6th finishing well at 50/1 on his first try at the trip. That was a most promising run and looks one to look out for in a big field. Perhaps Ayr could be on the agenda. It's a shame he couldn't grab the place but looks worth going in the notebook.
Fastha also ran well in 5th finishing well and feel he could be going to Ayr as well after a decent run.

On Saturday Al Khaleej was a non runner but Bohemian Melody ran down the field after showing up early. felt he had a fair chance as well so the jury's out there.

Breakheart, a single selection just isn't the same horse this year and gets the swerve from now on !

Good afternoon.

A cracking 6f sprint at york today and I'm going to take a chance on Mass Rally dropped back to 6f for the first time.
He's dropped to a very decent mark now and showed a bit more last time with the visor back on which is kept on again today. This looks likely to be run at a good pace and could see him picking up towards the end on todays ground and feel at 50/1 he's worth a try as an unexposed runner at the trip.

Fastha was a pick at Ripon when strongly supported but finsihed out the back. After Goodwood perhaps he just doesn't like certain courses or he's just gone off the boil ?
He has very good form here though and is given a chance to atone.

Good evening.

With more important things on my mind, such as my sons 5th birthday party I'm just going for the one race tomorrow which will be run just as pass the parcel with myself in charge of stopping the music starts off.

I like all weather horses at Ascot and Bohemian Melody looks an overprice at 16/1. He had some very smart form last year over 7f and looked progressive. Both runs this year looked needed and has obviously had some problems but comes out again after a needed run latest. His 4th to Side Glance here reads very well as does a number of runs last year and 7f looks his trip. I also feel he may well get the run of the race where plenty of the field will be making their moves late on and hopefully Bohemian Melody will have flown away !

The ground could be a little quick for Al Khaleej, a notebook horse but he has gone well here before and I'll take a chance that he can go well at another big price.

Hopeful of  a decent run and hoping I stop the music at the right times. Always a pressure that one.

A chance is taken that Breakheart will be a lot happier without the visor although it has to be said it is a chance as he's been showing a bit of attitude. Obviously well handicapped and the stable are going well of late so a final chance is given at a big price.

Autumn Blades is a non runner so I'm going to replace him with third rated  Citrus Star who probably needed the run last time at Newmarket after a break since a good run at Epsom behind Dance And Dance. A C/D winner here last year and with the stable starting to pick up I feel he could go well at 25/1. Hopefully an able replacement !

Step forward Autumn Blades who could run a lot better than his price suggests. Two recent runs over 8f for this 7f specialist should have him match fit and he wore cheekpieces combined with a 7lb claimer on his last run. You don't have to go to far back to see him beating Surour and Brae Hill on g/s at this level at Chester last year off a mark of 95 and then proving that was no fluke when running 3rd after that to Brae Hill and Dance And Dance again at Chester off 99.
Form on turf tailed off after that at Group level at Haydock and then at Sandown a course which would not suit. Obviously better known as an all weather horse but his 7f form on easy and turning courses on turf reads roughly 41113 with wins at Folkestone, Brighton and Chester.
he's probably better going left handed but has also managed to win twice round Kempton at the trip and feel he is the best handicapped runner in the field. Stall 20 may be seen as a negative by most but I feel it won't make any difference because wherever he is drawn he is usually always slowly away so stall position is not really relevant to his running style. At 66/1 I feel he is well worth a go as there's plenty of pace in the race and if he's in the mood 66/1 is a ridiculous price.

Second up is Brave Prospector now with Richard Fahey who ran a race full of promise on his first start at Hamilton only to run down the field in the Stewards Cup. That run is well worth forgiving and he's down to a mark of 97 which has seen him win two class 2 races at 6 & 6.5f. They were on good and g/f but he has some very smart form with cut in the ground back in the day including a very good 7th here in the Stewards Cup.Now 6 this slightly longer trip may well be the answer. Drawn 3 he should be able to sit behind the likely strong pace to his inside and if getting the breaks could also run a big race at big odds.
