A match between two sides who really need a win for very different reasons. Blackburn were extremely poor at the weekend and let indiscipline get the better of them both in terms of poor defending and a late red card. As for Liverpool, by hook or by crook, they need to start winning league matches. Match Odds You could almost blindly lay Liverpool for every Premier League match they're involved in. They continue to be under-priced both home and away and the odds on offer about them winning games are based solely on reputation and some of the names in that squad. Ten days ago we took a huge price on Newcastle to beat them and they duly obliged in a game they pretty much dominated throughout. You can probably see where I'm going with this! I simply can't have Liverpool at...

Blackburn have been on a great run of late and they've gone from virtual certainties for relegation to one of five or six teams who are in the mix to go down. I'm not sure anyone at Liverpool will be receiving a Christmas card from Steve Kean later on in the year, though. The Reds unexpectedly lost to both QPR and Wigan in consecutive matches, two of the teams Blackburn would least like to see pick up points at the moment. As for Manchester United, if for a period they had to battle hard to stay in the title race, over the past few weeks it's been Manchester City doing the hard work for them by dropping points against teams you really wouldn't expect them to. Much was said about United's easier run-in but this is certainly one of the tougher matches they have from now till the end of...

Having made light work of defending champions FC Porto in the Europa League on Wednesday, Manchester City turn their attentions back to the Premier League in the late kick-off on Saturday. With all due respect to Blackburn, a home tie against them is just the sort of match that they'd want after a two-week absence from league commitments. City will look at this match and their approach will be something along the lines of "Right, that's three points in the bag. Who's up next?". Some will say that borders on complacency, others will say it's arrogance but if you take the view that you're a champion team, you've got to have that sort of self-belief. I don't think they'll have too many problems disposing of Blackburn but let's try and find some good value bets that reflect City's dominance. [u]City...

Match Odds / Half-time/Full-time This midweek feast of televised Premier League action kicks off with a real relegation battle. This one looks a proper humdinger at Ewood Park, and a game that many people will be judging as a battle between two managers, with the loser out of a job once it's all over. A look at the table confirms that defeat could be fatal for either Steve Kean or Owen Coyle with Rovers and Wanderers 19th and 20th in the table, uncomfortably off the pace having gone two fifths of the way through this Premier League campaign. I'm sure both Kean and Coyle genuinely wish each other well, but either will be delighted to pull off a win, regardless of the ramifications for the other man. Defeat would leave either club marooned at the bottom of the table. These...

Arsenal's rehabilitation continued in midweek with a Champions League point at Borussia Dortmund. Okay, the performance wasn't perfect, but it was a great result and the positivity in the camp should ensure the Gunners return from the north west with three Premier League points. Blackburn finally ended their losing streak last week with a much-needed draw at Fulham. There were a few encouraging signs too, with Junior Hoilett looking lively as the focal point of their play. He's 50-50 to make Saturday's game as it stands, and Arsenal will need to keep an eye on him if he does. Steve Kean is talking everything up at the moment, but the bottom line is always your league position and the players and fans know that. Despite Arsenal's relatively poor start, they still possess most of the...
