The FA Cup 3rd Round is the traditions of giant killing period but not between these two sides as arch rivalries knows more is at stake. Manchester United will entertain Liverpool at Old Trafford with a 13:30 kickoff with 9,000 Liverpool set to travel to Manchester.  This is will a heated affair and in a event of a draw, the reply will be played at Anfield.

One of the glamorous ties of the third round and Manager Sir Alex Ferguson will make sure that he will get the upper hand before the game, during the game and after game against Liverpool. If anyone needs reminding of the last game then Berbatov was the key man with a hattrick that disposed Liverpool with a 3-2 defeat. Man United will be checking the fitness of striker Wayne Rooney and goal keeper Edwin van der Sar, if the keeper is not available then new comer Anders Lindegaard is one of the available keepers to take charge. Paul Scholes and John O’Shea are both injured and will not feature against Liverpool.

Liverpool has more to lose than just a game. Manager Roy Hodgson is pressured to deliever after the embarrassing 3-1 defeat to Blackburn in the midweek, his position is questionable and could go out if he loses to Manchester United on Sunday. On another note, the FA Cup could give Liverpool a breather in the Premiership and play to their potential as Roy Hodgson is a man who can get the right performance of his men when it comes to knockout rounds. He will have the services of Daniel Agger and Dirk Kuyt which means both Joe Cole and Maxi Rodriguez could set to start on the bench.

Manchester United will be happy to start out favourites and there is a reason for that as they lead the Premiership and not feeling the same turmoil that Liverpool is enduring. The FA Cup still has the sparks and seeing a mouth-watering tie as this to go ahead will give much belief back to the players and fans that things can start from this tournament. Liverpool will be fighting against the tides but they do have the players to win, Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Joe Cole and Glen Johnson.

Arsenal vs. Manchester City

03 Jan 11 11:37
By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

The heavy schedule is still ongoing and both set of squad are tested in their march to the Premiership title. Arsenal have reignited their Premiership title creditantials after win over Chelsea just a week ago while Manchester City have found a way to be amongst the three contenders at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal’s outstanding performance in the recent week has given hope for Arsene Wenger and their fans that they are able to mount a serious challenge this season on Manchester United, despite a defeat in decemeber to the league leaders. The rotational squad system has also come under scrutiny after the 2-2 draw away against Wigan but with their recent 3-0 away win over Birmingham, everything seems rosy again. It will be now a question whether Arsenal can dispose yet another title contender as the multi-million squad, Manchester City, visits the Emirates. Eight changes is the predicted amount for Wenger to use against City but for some reason, he might want to retain his best against the Sky Blues.

Manchester City might surprise a few but certainly expected for some to get to the top end at this stage of the season. The latest issues with problem child, Carlos Tevez is not anymore about the contract or off the field concerns, but it is on the field that he hasn’t been able to score. He will hope that he will be able to connect on Wednesday at the Emirates. One player desperate to play would be Adebayor but since he hasn’t been on the sub bench and of course, Silva, Milner, Yaya Toure and Tevez all combining well together, it will be easier for the former Arsenal player to get a spot elsewhere than with City under Roberto Mancini.

A defeat would really dent either team for the Premiership title and that would be a huge gain for Manchester United no matter what result is achieve here. Arsenal would have the slight advantage as they are home at the Emirates but Manchester City are not the average teams that you might face on a Wednesday evening. A draw could be on the count but Arsenal’s good run could set to continue.

Games are coming thick and fast but Liverpool hasn’t been in action for a fortnight so that will not apply to them when it comes to the busy Christmas period. In fact, Liverpool hasn’t been in action since their 3-1 defeat to Newcastle while the Wolves has been busy since Boxing day.

Liverpool must be itching to get a game in this festive period as they see the return of captain Steven Gerrard in which to improve their current 10th place in the Premier League. Manager Roy Hodgson has come out recently with the promise of getting Liverpool into the top 4 place of the Premiership, a promise that was echoed last year by former red manager, Rafa Benitez. Gerrard will supplement striker Fernando Torres for sure in the offensive but also good news with the defensive as Daniel Agger has recovered but needs match fitness. This leaves Jamie Carragher and Jay Spearing the only injured players in the squad.

Wolverhamption Wolves will have to fight for their lives as reality is knocking on their doors. They are currently at the foot of the Premiership and statistic say that teams that are under relegation line after the new year are likely the teams that will relegated. Manager Mick McCarthy  will have to come up with something fast as they have the worst defense in the league, lost 11 games and recently lost at home to Wigan by 2-1. Now they travel to Anfield in search for at least a point and that is a task in itself for the Wolves to encounter.

The only advantage for Wolves going into this game is that Liverpool hasn’t played football since the 15 of December, as their last outing in the Europa League 0-0. Since then, players that needed to be mended have return and the only question is when the Liverpool of good form will will return. Hodgson is desperate for them to win and a home win is a good bet.

One of the few games that might be in danger of being postponed in this weekend’s Premiership. Blackpool will host Liverpool on Boxing Day but with fears that it might not go ahead if snow returns to Britain. Blackpool does not have facilities that could beat the cold and it will remain to be seen on the day pitch inspection before the green lights is given.

Blackpool sensationally beat Liverpool at Anfield last time they met in the autumn. This is something of a boost of the Seasiders as go into the game on Sunday certainly without the fear of losing but with confidence of a win. The team itself hasn’t done bad compare to the other new promoted teams from the Championship, Blackpool can be found in the mid tables in 10th place with 22 points, leveled with the visitors. The Seasiders are unbeaten in four games and not taken account of the postponed game against Spurs last weekend.

Liverpool knows that another defeat to Blackpool would not be acceptable from their fans nor their board. All eyes will be on Steven Gerrard as the Liverpool Captain is set to return to the team after missing out five games with the Reds. He will boost the midfield and assist striker Fernando Torres in their search for a win at Blackpool. Apart from the good news of Gerrard returning to the starting lineup, there is a chance that Danish International Daniel Agger could get a nod to start but a bench is more likely. Only Jamie Carragher and Jay Spearing will remain on the injury list.

Liverpool Manager Roy Hodgson has been questioned on his team on the hot seat after Rafa Benitez could fired from Inter Milan. Hodgson has vowed to continue and the threat of Benitez to return was mooted with the idea that Liverpool is still paying Benitez for his exits. Back to the game, well the question is still whether it will go ahead, Liverpool to win, not comfortably for sure.

Both teams were in midweek action and hence why this is not a normal weekend game but held on a Monday evening instead. The kickoff time is place at 20:00 BST at Anfield where the home side will be bracing themselves for the cold evening and a tough opponent. In recent years, Aston Villa has tried to challenge Liverpool in the top half of the premiership, they succeed last year going above them but did not make the Champions League.
