RIP Dave. As a regular racegoer I had a few bets with him but never won. I knew him when I played pitch & putt at the Mount Merrion club (9 holes). I think he lived close by and often turned up for the Sunday afternoon competition. Perhaps he needed a complete change from the betting ring. My father told me Dave was almost wiped out a few times as he was a fearless layer, taking on huge liabilities. His brother was the opposite. He once took only 10 of my 20 bet on an outsider and it finished nearly last.
Dave was a nice guy.
