one of the great characters of the irish betting ring. his wit from his pitch was a reason to go racing. from a gentler time.

RIP Dave.
As a regular racegoer I had a few bets with him but never won.
I knew him when I played pitch & putt at the Mount Merrion club (9 holes).
I think he lived close by and often turned up for the Sunday afternoon competition.
Perhaps he needed a complete change from the betting ring.
My father told me Dave was almost wiped out a few times as he was a fearless layer, taking on huge liabilities.
His brother was the opposite.  He once took only 10 of my 20 bet on an outsider and it finished nearly last.

Dave was a nice guy.

RIP David. A thoroughly nice man and a great bookie to boot. Always paid me with a smile.

in an era of more gentle bookmaking il include the demise of david power......like davy he was a fearless layer, perhaps a more cautious layer in that it was at his prices you played big, nonetheless another one gone to that great betting ring in the sky.when you look around the betting ring currently there will be very little lamenting of the current generation compared to that of the past.wonder will they bury the pipe with him,

RIP David. I rarely had a bet with him as his prices were invariably shorter than the rest but on the few occasions I did he struck me as a decent man.
