World No.1 lady amateur golfer -who has just won the British Amateur Championship . She's done it all in her stellar record-breaking amateur career so she'll surely be a professional performer 'ere long. Another glorious star in the considerable Irish golfing firmament -who knows she might even get a mention on RTE. A superb role model for young Irish women.
Ireland's Leona Maguire on Saturday defeated Spain's Ainhoa Olarra, 3 and 2, at Pyle and Kenfig to win the Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship. The former Duke Blue Devil now has a place in the field for both the U.S. Women's Open and the Women's British Open. Maguire won the Smyth Salver as the low amateur at the Women's British last year. She is also already qualified for year's fifth major, the Evian Championship, via the Annika Award.

I'm delighted to report that the man on Koepka's bag was from Royal Portrush and as Irish as the Healy-Rae's. Another "Irish" sports star added to the RTÉ firmament.
