Dj876 had a great thread on The Ghurka that was in contention for thread of the year.
Neil d like CheltenhamRoar have been previous winners. Huddys and Frank60 are two other glaring ommissions. |

Thanks Wildman,
Congratulations every one on your awards. BWS pure class with his picking. Neill D a gent whose enthusism to just talk racing shone through. Think a hot toddy is in order on this auspicious occasion and a happy new year to all. |

thank you for your award.
I like ur understanding of my postings just a few musings from 4 days at leop its been a long time sine I saw a full line of bookies at LEOP. some guys have adapted the multipitch approach and not all are big time players Davy Hyland now operating as an end of line player, cracking racing all week , the WP and RUBY roadshow is a sight to behold , Joseph not making the impact one would have thought Elliot still keeping his nose in front with the help of a few ex Mullins inmates, De Bromhead also with Petit Mouchair Amazed Mullins had no 4yo or winners bumper entry, Robbie Mac hit the scoreboard nicely. a good few horses collapsed in the betting including Elliots bumper horse on Monday who flopped badly. now whatabout Ptown surely MR DH Dunston cant be let ride an odds on shot hes pure helpless |
|
By:
dh dunston makes me tempted to take a pink course.but i suppose if he dont fall off its a good thing?

Robbie Mc definitely knows what he is doing, there was an interesting quote of his recently, I'm paraphrasing but it was along the lines of: 'I've ridden out for all of the biggest trainers in Ireland over a sustained period (Weld, Mullins, Ballydoyle), I know everything they do, and I do it as well, but i also do some things that they don't do.
Robbie was always an excellent judge as a rider, clearly has great character and what his bumper horse did yesterday was exactly what you would want to see a horse do following on from debut. Interesting point about Joseph, CC. Maybe he is going to serve a longer and harder apprenticeship than I had thought. I'd have thought there was more in the likes of Landofhopeandglory and a few others than it looks like there is going to be. I guess it just goes to show that Ballydoyle waste very little, even when dealing with shareholders and family! if the likes of Land was going to make a 4yo, he'd still be in Rosegreen rather than humping a big in the Fred winter. I wonder what the quality of Joseph's staff is relative to Ballydoyle as top-class work riders seems to be the common denominator in every top yard in Ireland. I was warned about Noel Meade this season on here, I thought there might be one last kick in him but assessing things since autumn there really isn't! Elliot needed that Lexus and Paddy Power or it would be nearly curtains on the trainers championship front. He did well to be still 250k in front given the week Mullins had and Nicholl's Canyon's relatively unforseen blowout in the 2 mile hurdle. That horse never has an easy race! |

Thank you very much indeed WMB for this highly-coveted 'Overseas' Award and the kind words that went with it. I'll take them as a vote of confidence.
I wish everyone on the Irish Sports Forum a Happy and Prosperous New Year. This even includes one regular critic who hasn't hesitated to write abusive responses to some of the inconvenient truths I've raised on some appallingly serious issues during the year. For reasons beyond my wit, he has even occasionally felt it necessary to bring the land of my birth into the equation. (Naturally we must perish the thought that there might be even the slightest whiff of xenophobia in that). Anyway, it's reassuring to know that better judges did not disqualify me on account of my modest homeland origins. Anyway, I won't overstay my welcome at this stellar awards ceremony by naming, shaming or publicly humiliating the tragic individual concerned. Not my style. Best wishes one and all, and very much looking forward to seeing the Irish equine stars of the Turf and The Men in Green on the rugby field in action over here in 2017, no doubt once more set to crush all before them. |

No need to name him.
He hates religion but has the obligatory soft spot for the religion of peace. Hates the English but supports Manchester United and is glued nightly to Coronation Street and Eastenders In other words a fairly typical Irish liberal extremely intolerant. He used to hate South Africans but they have been vanquished so all this hate has been transferred to the Israelis. |

On the subject of 2016 Rewards, the most glaring omission was the failure to mark the hounding and subsequent departure of one of the best contributors of all times, callitasucit.
He provided more quality content over a range of subjects than anyone else in recent times. His departure was a huge loss and the defining Forum event of 2016. |
|
By:
You are some langball,
Why are you on about work permits? You roared and shouted about giving them a safe haven. Surely you must want peace for the very few that are in Europe in that guise and then repatriated as quickly as possible from whence they came? Isn't that the right thing to do? The rest should be jailed. |
|
By:
Calm down, Pa, a spike in your blood pressure of that magnitude is not good for you at this hour of the day.
A safe haven, of course, in which to live and work and prosper. And help fuel the German economic machine. |
|
By:
the hounding off of callit was the low point of the forum 2016
|
|
By:
kavvie did callit not take great delight in revealing the identity of another poster and then regualrly alluding to who he was? if so i think its quite fitting and rather ironic that he done one as soon as it became known who he was.
|
|
By:
"ironically" as you say it didnt become known who he was!!
|
|
By:
was he not declan?
|
|
By:
I am very calm d'ozy (10.00)
That very humane out of you, give them minimum pay in sheet jobs, pity they aren't any cottonfields around. |
|
By:
The personal vile messages sent to callit was the low point of the year,
|
|
By:
Deary me, Lapsy, you are the one suggesting "**** jobs" not me. A proportion will indeed work for the generous minimum German wage, others will prosper. Just like every one else.

It's no wonder Inside Info didn't make the annual honours list, despite his overt efforts to ingratiate himself with Borneo's mob.

Ozy, get out while you still can mate, you'll be asking for his pps number next.....

Thanks for all that effort. The thing is you come across as if you have never left your mountain village.
Being a 'Liberal Progressive' : Never having to apologise for a catastrophically poor piece of judgement based upon zero knowledge of the facts. To what level are you educated? I'm not going to brag about my excellent education here. It is no concern of yours or anyone else's, and completely irrelevant to our discussion. Please stop embarrassing yourself. Remember, others are watching. To paraphrase James Maxton MP on the occasion of Ramsay MacDonald's final rambling speech to Parliament, "Give up man, you're a bl00dy tragedy". |

Leinster will almost always be prioritised over Man U, Wonks. And I have the capacity to multitask, though, I wouldn't try it if I were you and running on a single core "processor".
Out of interest where did you pick up this bad habit of using the word "mate"? Its hardly a Tallaght thing? |
|
By:
That ending at Old Trafford was like the old days!

yeah, great stuff, managed to catch it.
