Going to been some week of sport with Aintree and the best golf tournament of the year aswell,i always end up backing a few more in the masters than I would in any other tournament and this year will be no different, backed six guy against the field,
First selection is Rickie Fowler, his game is made for Augusta, with the exception of Phil you won't find a better chipper around theses greens, and he seems to have no fear when it come to the doc foot par putts either,
Second selection is Phil Mickelson, sadly I've missed the bigger prices quoted for him,his game is slowly but surely coming to hand since he's got a new swing coach, once he can cut out the silly mistakes unlike what he done last week,he won't be far away come Sunday night,
Third selection is Bello,he's been playing the best golf of his life at the minute, another great tournament by him last week were he'd a top five finish, and at the price he's a cracking e/w bet,
Fourth selection is Patrick Reed, solid tournament by him last week, would of been much closer but for his putts not going in,
Fifth selection is Brendan Grace,he's a player who seems to play his best golf when it comes to the majors,he's been a winner already this year, seems to me he way over priced,
Sixth selection is Jamie Donaldson, had a solid week last week, and seems another golfer who worth an e/w at his price,

Also done a trixie,
Grace top south Aftican player
Casey top English player
VJ Singh top senior player,

Selections
Fowler e/w 18/1 5 places,
Mickelson e/w 20/1 5 places,
Bello e/w 200/1 7 places,
Reed e/w 40/1 7 places,
Grace e/w 66/1 7 places,
J Donalson e/w 250/1 7 places,

Trixie
Grace top south Aftican 7/2
Casey top English 5/1
VJ Singh top senior 11/4,
Best of luck with your selections this week lads,

I was very keen on our own Shane Lowry here last year. He failed the exam, but was very forthright in his interview afterwards.
The occasion and stage had got the better of him, and he was overawed. I maintain that though he lacks a bit of distance off the tee, that his game is made for here. An absolute superb exponent of the short game, having become a WGC champion since last year, I think we will Shane do himself proud this week. And at a price".

Report Kelly April 9, 2016 2:57 PM BST
Might be a good day for our lads  , Rory will love being head to head with Spieth , and has a good record in that respect .  Shane looking comfortable , expect him to improve his position , and a few bob on him at 80 or so might not be misplaced with a view to trading .

Its not a 2 horse race though , there must be 10 or more who could string together 2 decent rounds which might just be enough to win , the course is not giving up easy birdies except on the par 5's .

They say Augusta is made for Rory McIlroy. Maybe it is. But has he ever produced a great round there when under the cosh, when it really counted??

Another epic fail last night. I know the course was playing tough, and indeed there was worse rounds yesterday. But for a player of his standing, it really was a shocker.

As sure as night follows day, he will put in a decent finish today. The usual, is to start slowly, then burn it up when all chance has gone. The 1.75 for a top 10 finish looks very big to me. Plenty above him have big Payday question marks.

Jordan was all over the shop with his driving. If its bad today, he will be in trouble. Tempting though at 2.6

I backed Hideki Matsuyama when he chinned Fowler in the Phoenix Open, and I feel this will be his best chance of a win since then.
The 24 year old superstar struggles on slower greens, he isn't one to bang them 3 foot past, and can be very frustrating in leaving them short.

Matsuyama again didn't convince with the putter from 15 onwards when he got a sniff of the lead. He really should have ended 4 under. 3 at worst. I cling to the hope he will click into 'Phoenix playoff mode' today. He was excellent again tee to green. I would have preferred tougher conditions though for the final round. A shootout may leave him vulnerable to a hotter putter.

Jason Day missed a couple himself, but made plenty asides. If he can go one under through 2, he could well be the one they all have to beat.

2 balls went well yesterday, just a shame Bradley let me down for a beano.

Patrick Reed at 4-5 and Billy Haas at 21-10 both look worthy of support today.

3.5pts Reed 4-5 16.35 2 Ball
3pts Bill Haas 17.35 2 Ball
1pt Double

Lets hope for an entertaining evening.

Stupid Q.

Report Kelly April 11, 2016 1:32 AM BST
Willett won it , 67 in the last round was joint best score of the day .  Spieth had it won until ten , eleven and twelve where he went bogey , bogey , quadruple bogey , going from 7 under to 1 under .  Akin to meltdown , might take a while to get over it .

Spieth is the best putter in the world , but he is not the complete golfer .  His game is substantially dependent on his putting .  His putting held up OK , it was the other shots which let him down .

Have seldom seen a tournament where so many players did not seem to have the ba**s to go and win it  , Willett did , fair play to him .  He is a good player , has been playing well for a while now and will be an asset in the Ryder Cup .  The fact that Lee John was well up there , bearing in mind he is not the best putter , casts a cloud over the value of the tournament as a form guide .They were giving away twos on the 16th , 3 holes in one after 4 barren years  , Rory 3 putted from 7 feet .

Rory played like a car sputtering on 3 cylinders , occasionally the fourth cylinder kicked in ( 7 birdies today , alongside a load of rubbish ) .  He lost the tournament on Saturday , a decent round then would have put a different complexion on his play over the weekend .

Spieth looked pretty shaken in the Butler cabin , an outdated routine in my book , quaint though it may be .  Was OK when the amateur ethos was prevalent , but most of the golfers involved nowadays are multi millionaires .
Report workrider April 11, 2016 11:18 AM BST
What price did Spieth hit i/r lads ,was going to lay him 2,24 on Sat but sadly never did...
Report Vubiant April 11, 2016 11:53 AM BST
Guys on golf forum say he hit 1.1
Report Kelly April 11, 2016 12:17 PM BST
Yeah , Spieth hit around that 1.1 , presumably when he stood on 10th tee .  Lowest price I laid him at was 1.17 at 10.02 .  On the 10th tee he looked home and hosed , only tricky hole to come was the 11th ( ask Rory re how not to play that ) , and with 2 straightforward ( relatively speaking ) par 5's at 13 and 15 to come I was getting worried about his ability to shoot 64 ( which I had laid on the lowest score market -- he was the only one in the running for a really low score ) .

10 , 11 , and famously 12 will be forever etched on Spieths memory , it wont go away , but maybe he will have learnt a very hard lesson from it .
Report Clerkmore April 11, 2016 12:27 PM BST
There was about £350k matched on Spieth at 1.1 and a few grand at 1.09.
Report mincer11 April 11, 2016 12:45 PM BST
Two things I could have predicted, there was about 100 players mentioned and not one of them was the winner. All of them ew and hardly any even placed.
Unsurprisingly Kelly who put up 4 golfers to trade, and his main bet Bubba Watson, all of which never came within an arses roar of the top of the leaderboard, well he still managed to win by laying Spieth at 1.17 even though he as he says himself, thought he was home and hosed. Kelly really is peerless when it comes to winning, he is the best I've ever seen.
Report Kelly April 11, 2016 1:05 PM BST
Mincer , my 4 I put up to trade were Gmac , Kaymer , Bradley , Duboisson .

Gmac traded down to 250 , Kaymer to 90 , Bradley to 75 , Duboisson to 110 .  Cant remember the exact prices I took initially , except Duboisson at 610 , but they were all above 400 on here . Even you Mincer should have been able to turn my advice into profit on the basis of those figures ( unless you were greedy and/or stupid ) .

I backed Bubba at 14/1 , laid him back lower , win and place on here .

Nowhere did I say I managed to win by laying Spieth at 1.17 , those are your words , I seldom lay individual bets , I trade , and laying Spieth at 1.17 would only have fitted in with other lays , anything which beats the 100% mark is profit , trick is to be able to do it .

Bubba played like Bubba does , if things go his way he is very good , if things dont go his way he loses interest . Most golfers on here know that . The main way to beat the markets on big golf events is in the place markets , Matsuyama was 10/1 a place 1-6 with the bookies , yet could be layed on here at 6/1 pre tournament  , and there were others as well as him .

100 players mentioned according to you .  Funny there were only 89 runners  , and 20 of them were only there for the beer ( and barbecue) . Dont let the facts stand in the way of a good story ( fantasy more like ) .
Report wildmanfromborneo April 11, 2016 1:16 PM BST
I've never " greened up " or traded out in my life.
Others like Kelly are doing this for ages,I believe him I'd say his motto is small and often.

Its like the few that come on here saying the only thing that counts is the figure in the right hand corner, not to me it isint.
Gambling is something you should enjoy, when that stops so should you.
Report Kelly April 11, 2016 1:35 PM BST
My motto has become small and often , wildman , thanks to Betfair it is possible . One British Open many moons ago I made profit on 48 of the players I backed / traded , hard work , but enjoyable if you like the sport and the activity .  I reckon I could make money on the soccer , but it bores me completely ( Barca and Bayern aside at present) , so I seldom bother with it.  But the Majors stretch betting wise over 4 to 6 months for those of us with the interest ( and the bank sometimes) to trade .

Rory is becoming something of an enigma. I will never ever understand how a player of his ability could go round Augusta last saturday and not get one birdie.
His game ,as kelly says, was only three quarters there but even still he was still  in it until the 43rd hole.
There was a turning point there when Spieth  was looking at certain bogey from 35ft and Rory is putting for birdie from half that distance. Rory three putted with a feeble miss from4 ft. and the chance was lost to put some pressure on. Spieth bounds off the green , Rory slouches.
Then ,in the last chance saloon on Sunday after a bonus birdie (at the same 7th !) Rory smashes two great shots on to the 8th and has only a feasible 8ft or so for eagle. If he sinks that he also gets that shot of adrenalin that can put him on a charge. Chance missed and he just trundles on as an also ran -still getting 4 more birdies!
Rory seems to alternate between flair and flicker -when he's in flair mood he can blow any field away ...when he's in flicker mode it can be hardtop watch.
But whatever about his mental dynamic -he really must improve his mid-range putting -say from6 to 10ft.Too many soft shots leaking away there.
Report workrider April 11, 2016 3:32 PM BST
Rory hasn't got the mental strenth yet, to busy trying to crowd please .Thanks for the info lads...

jordan and rory still proved they are still the best choices around when it comes to betting on the majors, with rory struggling to win at the masters yet again, only one he hasnt won yet. shame about jordan having a melt down, that proved to be a blessing in disguise if you had the
wherewithal to back him in the first place and lay off at 1.10. seems these two golfers are never high up the pecking order or fashionable
when it comes to selections on these threadsWink

I didn't see anywhere that anyone at all included Willett in their list of fancies -in that sense he was a surprise ( though deserving) winner.
A staggering stat is that Willett was only level par for the par 5s!(Spieth 11 under)
Fitzpatrick had a steady tournament with 11 bogeys and 11 birdies. He could be  a big factor in majors before too long .
He's only 21 and interestingly, like Willett ,from Sheffield.

^ PP enhanced special today for ya,

English winner 9/1 from 7/1, no thanks btw for me Devil.

Also "enhanced" ,

Shane Lowry Top 20, 6/1 from 4/1, (previous 39th,MC), no thanks again though not the worst.

Sergio or Jon Rahm top 5, 7/1 from 5/1, Sergio has an 8th best finish in recent years here, made cut 7 ot of 8,Jon Rahm debutante but on the back of 4 from 5 top 5's,after Willett maybe the "horse for course" isn't so rigidly applied,so yes please a little on that.

I've been bitten before regarding weather but the way i,m looking at tomorrows makes for interesting reading, every weather site seems different but from what i gather the early/lates may well have a considerable advantage(ie 13 mph gusts morning against 30mph afternoon).
Best check it yourselves, possible your pick could well be scuppered before tee off,a rotten way to go.
