Thanks boysLove

Going to watch the fight after a few beers tomorrow night post Munster/Leicester. Knew his appeal was big from what I've read in the papers but it goes beyond what I thought. I wouldn't know anything much about MMA but hope he wins, he's creating a great buzz. Groups of people all over the country watching this tomorrow. Just after the late bars close as well!

i'll be cheering on Cork's own Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan tomorrow night against Chris Eubank Jnr in a final eliminator for the WBA middleweight title.

i don't expect any of the McGregor bandwagon-jumpers to have heard of him or even to know the fight is on. Media is focusing 100% on the trash-talker's little fight in America instead.

O'Sullivan won't embarrass himself or the country come what may but McGregor will probably do both.

To be fair Fred ' O'Sullivan is no push over , you can have 6.2 here for him to win,Eubank jnr is not as good as his dad so there just might be an outside chance that he might cause a surprise.

Indeed, Sullivan is almost as cocky as  McGregor, Theres 187euro at 7.2 here if you think the Corkman can win. We wish him well

http://thelab.bleacherreport.com/roy-jones-jr-s-br-long-goodbye/

Excellent profile of Roy Jones jr who fights this weekend just a month short of his 47th Birthday. On his prime, if you said to me he was the second greatest fighter who ever lived, I wouldn't disagree.

can't believe hes still around. must be a once-off thing??

he was a superb boxer at middle, super-mid and light-heavy. he even won a version of the heavyweight title against John Ruiz, who was a bit of a mug.

towards the end of his career he was losing to guys he'd previously have beaten one-handed. so dunno why hes come back, unless he's broke or bored.

used to wonder why he never fought the likes of Eubank/Benn/Collins, perhaps he saw what happened to Gerald McClellan and thought better of it.

Sugar Ray Robinson, Frank. Never saw him obviously but the body of his work (at a time when every working-class kid in America fought) and anecdotal evidence suggests he must have been the best. I saw a thing where the late Bert Sugar was discussing his book "The 100 greatest Fighters of All Time." When deciding on his Top 10, he said he would have made Robinson "1 through 9 if he could have." What strikes me is that he did it at Welterweight and Middleweight in an era with only one Champion and no junior weight classes like Light-Middle, astonishing.

Before my time really Freddie, but from what I gather, Jones was the best of the yanks, James Toney was extremely talented however Jones was stylistically wrong for him. Toney stepped up in weight to beat Evander Holyfield pretty hanily in 03'. I'd have thought Jones & Toney were better than Eubank, Watson, Benn & Collins. Herroll Graham & Watson, the guys who never won belts could probably legit claim to be the best of the Brits as well. Watson outclassed Eubank until the incident. The McClellan/Benn fight was a piece of form in favour of this side of the atlantic, but I'd rate RJJ another level up again. The guy had freakish speed and reflexes. There was amazing depth in the early to mid nineties by all accounts.

I can see why the authorities would want McGregor to win but there is no way they wanted it to end that quickly.

Its hard to credit that Mincer manages to turn this into one of is self loathing pieces.

Why wouldn't they wanted it ended quickly? Nice excuse for big money rematch. Sellout croke park maybe

Mincer spot on, you have to chuckle at them spending thousands to head out and its over after 13 seconds.

Racing some big Boxing  matches have been over inside a minute , so no real surprises there . What would have been sickening was if he had got BEAT inside a minute .
