King of the Nutjobs, get back on to that golf thread and talk away to yourself for the night. If you think the opening poster is justified in having a bet because Tony Martin trains the horse in a weak race, well then frankly you'd punt on anything. I would be ashamed to fritter away money like that, here's a strategy for you. Put some work/effort into your thought process and research. Understand the basic concepts of probability,be ultra price-sensitive,explore different strategies, keep accounts and don't cod yourself. If you're losing your b@llacks,pack it up or drastically reduce your stakes but DON'T punt on the first thought that comes into your head or abuse my eyes/ears with it. |

excactly olc..I don't bet in 17 runner handicaps..some people love them and do great in them..
dj, you really are a tool..come on spouting crap..yet cannot back it up with showing your own betting strategy? all ive asked is if you have a go at mine then show me how to do it?.. how would you know what a journalist does or not..theres a man who used to be on here who makes a living out of punting as well as being a journalist..? your full of it..and make that distinction because you probably don't know any? |

Tony you have posted any number of times about getting info. The most recent I recall was putting up info for three different horses in the Aintree bumper.
I have put up plenty of winners on here as well as losers. You must have been on the phone to Warren Greatrex when I said USA (7/2) was gone by in Tipp last week. That doesn't prove anything though. The only thing that matters is whether you make it pay. Judging by the horses you put up there isn't a chance you are yet you claim otherwise. I don't come on here to get tips so I don't put up a whole pile of my own selections. I see this as a place to discuss racing / betting on a more general level. From what I can see you like to specialise in races where only a handful are expected to count. The problem with this is that the front of the market is the easiest to price up and rarely are ricks made. Picking winners isn't rocket science. There's a multitude of factors (form, ground, connections, breeding etc.) that must be assessed for each race. I normally stay away from low grade action and keep to solid horses. I don't adopt a points system but most bets generally between 100-500. I very rarely have interest or "fun" bets. I almost never do multiples. I have two blue chip sources of information and ignore all other chat. I usually only bet e/w when the odds are against the bookies (I back more 11/4 shots e/w than 10/1 shots). More than anything price is the most important factor. If it's not value leave it alone. You might miss winners but, assuming you are able to assess races, it will be beneficial in the long run. The second most important factor (though it's linked to value) is discipline. Never chase. The next attractive is never too far away. I invested a lot of time in improving my punting this season and it's produced an ROI of just under 17% for the NH season (beginning Listowel week). I know I wouldn't have made next nor near that by backing horses first time out in bumpers. The problem with most punters is twofold. The first is most haven't the knowledge to make it pay and second is they want to take the easy way. |

right that's fine..price is your thing..on my page on sbb, the tips I put up..65% are shorter at the off than when I put them up?..bitandpeices eg..I put it up @7/2 9.11pm the night before, still doesn't mean I get lots of winners cos I get a good price for the horse..it has to win, I don't back in every bumper..and who said I back all the time fto..sometimes yes but most times no..but I like bumpers..i find they are like marmite with people..but just cos they may not work for you does not mean they don't for me..

your selection process doesnt capture enough value for you to make your selections profitable over the long run. take my notebooks, any given race where i have more than two runners, it will be the outsider with the best chance, more often then not, obviously not always. the bookies will always price up races without knowing the real form horses.
will give you an example of two notebooks running earlier in a race today 1ST CANNY KOOL 11/1 4th BEAU EILE 11/4 FAV both of those horses had beaten the same horse zuzinia (the fav by 3/4 length on level weights) and (the winner giving 5lbs and beat it by 4 1/2 lengths). |
