Were you impressed with the manner of the win?

Was a very poor race, but did it well enough and gathered momentum after the last.

You weren't unlucky Tony as you're playing bingo.

What did you know about the chances of this mare?

Nothing you backed it because she is trained by Tony Martin.

Dj876 feeling superior today.

Seems you are going to hassle Tony today.

He gave his opinion,I think he was right the horse was unlucky and appreciate him giving his opinion.

You obviously feel there should be some sort of filter here only allowing posters you approve of here.

How can you suggest something is a bet when all you know about it is what you have read on Timeform/racing post ?

He may as well be saying I think 21 will be the bonus number tonight.

You appreciate him telling you that Tony Martin had a winner at Perth and that she has won a ptp, invaluable information.

thing is dj..what I said nearly happened,it was my opinion..if you come on here and say ive heard this ones working well at home you ridicule that..your full of it..people give their opinions that what its about..i don't rely on you to pick my horses..(its very rare you do anything positive on here anyway)your attitude sums you up,
By:

so form means nothing then dj is that what your saying?..you can see the ptp run on ptp Ireland site so there is a chance to see these horses..its not just form, but ..come on dj..give us your way of backing a horse..lets see how the master does it?
By:
dj876

Tony57 everyone picks and backs winners, that's irrelevant.

It's the logic used to getting to that selection, trainer being in form is only one very small variable to consider and frankly the logic applied to your selections is non-existent.

You have no concept of probability or how to derive it,the variable most important to you is luck but that is irrelevant over a large sample size.

What do you know about the context of that run in Irish point to points?

Why is she riding for Tony Martin?

The difference between DJ876 and Tony is stark.

Tony goes racing enjoys it and likes a punt.
DJ876 is tortured and robotic,he crams his brain with all these rules,he studies hard and has knowledge but he doesn't enjoy gambling,he hates it.
It drives him mad which is why he frequently loses it on here.

Of the two Tony should carry on,DJ876 should give up,he would be much happier.

Will an you hit the nail on the head.  I met tony  and will meet him again and he's as sound as you would meet. Loves racing and has a sound appreciation of the game Dj seems very unhappy...

You're the self-anointed Bumper King, just can't see how anyone could punt on such thin information/knowledge as the opening post screams.

How can you judge form visually without knowing its context?

Anyone with an iota of knowledge of Irish racing would know why she rides Martins horses.

Borneo,
I would wager that I have been to more meetings this year than you but I don't post personal information on here?

Never read a book on gambling just don't dispute your ramblings an constant regurgitation.

So I got cleaned on the bags meetings (o/r 150%) this morning and now I am venting,go away ya lunatic.

dj, people on here know the game its ups and downs..but enough on here know me well enough to know im not stupid,  ive owned horses,we all have our own methods that work for us in different ways..just to say..i don't see how you can?..or everyone in Ireland knows why she rides for martin..i don't?..i looked at her lto saw she can ride in a weak race @5/1 to me it represented a bet, it nearly come off, regarding the bumpers..again I have a decent record in them I like them it works for me, the bumper king is a joke..the lads (friends off and on here take the piss)its not serious..unlike you...but please im all ears tell us how to do it dj, were are we going wrong when your doing right please tell us.
By:

Here look if you enjoyed having a monkey on at enhanced odds of 5/1 and then throwing away over 3 grand on a 5/4 shot in a handicap and on an O'Brien shorty in a maiden (ON OPENING DAY OF THE FLAT SEASON) that you knew wasn't straight forward, then best of luck to you.

Tony can't really be bothered reading that gibberish but how you can draw a positive correlation between intelligence and owning races horses is staggering.
By:
dj876
When: 25 Apr 15 13:27
There is a distinct difference between owning a racehorse and leasing a share of the racing rights of a horse when the real owner doesn't believe it's worth paying for the training fees but gets a free wheel of a few desperadoes who subsequently put him in training with a lad who wouldn't train ivy up a wall.
By:
wildmanfromborneo
When: 25 Apr 15 13:33
I did enjoy it and learned plenty from it.

The 5/4 shot in the handicap went on to win a listed race in Mallow next time out at 5/1.

You stress the fact it was the opening day of the flat season because in your stilted robotic mind you think you can't win at the start of a flat season, this is one of your numerous rules and its wrong.
You should deal with each race on its merits.

DJ876 your last post makes my point, you don't enjoy racing and you presumed because I lost on the Curragh I couldn't enjoy the day.
The fact is I did enjoy the day and the other telling fact is you can only enjoy a day when you are winning, when you are losing you are a tortured soul and most would give you a wide berth.
By:
dj876
When: 25 Apr 15 13:45
Did you really learn plenty from it Borneo though?

As far as I can see you're repeating the same mistakes over 40 years of punting and have never truly learned from them?

You become locked onto a horse and fully convince yourself that the result is almost a formality despite historical punting contradicting this,ie Dawn Approach, your absurd staking and psychologically defeated mind will always hold you back.

Why have a monkey on at value odds and throw a few grand on a shorty that you knew had quirks.

There are massive and obvious risks attached to start of season punting and even though you can perhaps justify to yourself that Stack always targets that day. It's well and truly factored into the prices and I just wouldn't completely trust connections at short prices either.

How you can justify getting stuck into the O'Brien one because of an earlier winner on the card is contradictory to your fact that betting event should be judged on its merits even if there are some relations. The fact that you had earlier identified quirks in Jacobean but still lumped on is baffling.

Would you mind placing the stakes and odds of the double you had and the two singles that day?

By:

When: 25 Apr 15 13:51
I don't understand that last line.

Look I know I make many mistakes punting,if ye only knew the half of it but the point is I enjoy it,I don't do it for a living.

I'm sure you could teach me loads but I'm too old for that now.
By:
dj876
When: 25 Apr 15 13:54
We all make plenty of mistakes repeatedly but one would hope that one would have put more thought into a selection than what the opening post infers.

State the stakes and odds of the 3 bets you had that day?
By:
wildmanfromborneo
When: 25 Apr 15 13:58
I think I had a thousand at 6/4 Great Minds
500 each way an English trained horse in the Lincoln.
A disgraceful grand on Jacobean.

You are right about that bet, that's one I should have kept quiet about.

dj, I owned the last 2 horse ive had, 1/4 share in both..one had just me and the trainer, the other had 3 of us with the trainer..there is a point to this meaning I enjoy the game, the lot..the ins and outs,..the betting the form, the yards..i also speak to like minded people journalists..who make a living from the game,.so what might not work for you may work for others...but I'm not better or worse than others who love horses..
I don't like your arrogance as its not warranted on Wildman or myself..your very judgemental with out the facts..but I personally don't care..but it should be noted you have not answer my point of were your so much better than us..im asking show us were I and others are going wrong....

Whatever about the ends and outs of critiquing another mans punting strategy, there wasn't a thing unlucky about Martin's mare last night. I'd follow p2p's closely enough and the form of her win wasn't worth tuppence in terms of park form. Your asking for trouble punting female amateur riders (bar the obvious two) against professionals and Martin's rider was well found out.

How people could even look at that card with the racing coming up next week next week is beyond me. There were horses that would rather lie down and die than go forward running last night.

teelthe king ..did I say it was a bad race?..did I say at the price @5/1 it was worth a abet..it was beat 1/2 length if it had won none of you would have said a word..the ptp race may have been bad..im not up on irish ptp form..but it was a stinker of a race..and I was nearly right..

Tony the point is that you were guessing. There's no way you could have known what to expect from the mare. The result is irrelevant as you have to put your money down beforehand. It was a fluke that she ran well. Most times you back them types they are hammered. The only reason you being pulled up on it is you throw up a heap of unraced horses, most of whom fall out the back of the screen. I'm sure there's no maliciousness in it when you put "info" up. Just stating it as I see it.

There's very few people that make money out of punting on "info" only and there's no way you are one of them. It's always struck me as lazy the people who prefer to rely on news, particularly in bumpers or flat maidens. It takes the hard work out of it for them but there's only one way it's going to end long term.

Even on this thread, Tony maintains I have a decent record in them .  A claim he makes every couple of weeks.

None believes this assertion, Tony, the evidence to the contrary is overwhelming,  and it just winds people up, frankly.

The only way a journalist makes a living from the game is by collecting his wages for slurping on the gravy train, same as guys with tipping lines,if they were that well clued up they wouldn't be selling their knowledge/ information.

Tony57 couldn't care less about how many duds you have been fleeced on,your name dropping or how often you go racing. Everything you post here reveals all.

You're fired an appropriate winner for this thread and a short priced favourite in a handicap obliges for the Stacks.
