I think Cooper will atone for his bad ride on P/Parisenne at Punchestown recently and looks a e/w bet to nothing ...Apache  Stronghold another e/w bet to nothing , down slighty in trip and having experience of the track , his run last time were he came to win his race , only to be run out of it by a stronger stayer ... Finally Foxrock , if I have any winnings I shall be using them on laying this fellow ..Cant have him at any price..Good luck punters....

I think it will be another Willie Mullins benefit day.

What will probably be unusual is he will have at least four winners with four different jockeys.

Ruby Walsh,Tony McCoy,Brian Cooper and Patrick Mullins.

like VENT DE LA COTE 3.15 won well lto, going to give Windsor park another chance took 7/1 e/w I think silver concord is a better horse on good ground?the bumper is a giggy fest, I know there was some upset faces when potters point was beat on debut, but I like archive to run him close at the prices..
Report Santry February 8, 2015 10:48 AM GMT
1.15 Officieux at 7/1 in an open race. Won well last time and runner up has franked the form
2.15 Identity Thief is a good price in a one horse market.
2.45 Apache Stronghold didnt quite get the trip last time and the shorter trip to suit.
3.50 Boston Bob should not be far away.

Good luck all.
Report workrider February 8, 2015 11:10 AM GMT
Have also layed Alvisio , he won his maiden well , but what did he beat , very little imo and this is much tougher ...Keen Leader was on a thread over on the main forum last night , he's against PDB in the hunters chase , says hes a bleeder and due to bleed again ...
Report callitasucit February 8, 2015 11:19 AM GMT
I cant get over how short Alvisio Ville is. I'm not saying it wont win, it probably deserves to be fav, but only just. 2.4 is madness. There are plenty of plausible alternatives.

On another note, its refreshing how competitive it is, in contrast to the vast majority of Grade One novices over here these days. A cracking event, and makes up for the lack of class acts in the Big One.

I will give Kalkir another chance. I though he had a couple of excuses at Xmas, and if he had not of ran there he would be 4-6 here.
Report bethsalander February 8, 2015 11:47 AM GMT
heard a rumour that Kalkir is a NR in the opener but seeing as it hasnt been taken out yet..
Officiex ew for me provided we have the dead 8
IMO Sempre Medici is the best of Willies 4 so that'll do ew
Valseur Lido, probably impresively
the Hennessey is obviously wide open but im not put off by PT riding Boston Bob, ground has dried up plenty and i think thats key to the beast
im a layer of Prince in the hunter chase

good luck all

Two e/w bets for me today;

Silver Concorde 14/1
Wasn't a terrible run first time over hurdles and better ground will suit him better today. Could sneak into the frame.

Shanahans Turn 16/1
Form of his two novice chase wins have held up okay and step down in trip and better ground should see an improved performance today.

First Lieutenant E/W at 14/1.
He is the forgotten horse in what is a below average Hennessy. He finished ahead of Lord Windemere last time out, yet Lord Wind is trading at 6's.
He has run 6 times at Leopardstown and only out of the frame once.
Mouse Morris has his horses in fine form at the moment and I expect a big run.

Blue Hell E/W @14/1.
Lightly raced French Import who has acquitted himself well in some decent handicaps. Will need to win this to get into the County Hurdle which I suspect is a target. He is coming back from a 9 month lay off but has run well when fresh. He has been drifting in the betting all morning so late money would be significant in what is a very tricky race. However, Blue Hell has more potential than most in the race.

Sempre Medici is a decent e/w bet for me....decent on the flat in France won an admittedly poor maiden hurdle in

heavy ground in Cork and would have been a lot closer to the winner last time but for a bad mistake at the

last....lovely moving horse which todays better ground should suit.

Would fancy Foxrock to finish ahead of CL in the GC,A really likeable tough horse when allowed run his race.
Report callitasucit February 8, 2015 9:33 PM GMT
CL was value for a bit more than the winning margin today though. Done well to win after the mistake two out. Shows how poor a GC it is though, that yokes like these are only 10-1. Bibs Worth at 16-1 is a cracking bet. Yes he needs forgiving, but not too much. He wont be 16-1 on the day. Nowhere near it.

I'm not surprised there is no sign of Lester Wallnuts or DJ876 on this great thread.

The opening poster puts up 8/1 and 5/1 winners with logic and reason,he follows it up with two lays an 11/10 shot and one that probably cost his heart to beat a bit faster Foxrock,he collected both times all the same.

The contents of wonky's bowels were strewn across the grandstand as Foxrock jumped the last in front. He was layimg Ted's horse ferociously on his laptop and could see all his each way thieving gains being extracated from his pocket. You got lucky wonky...

I think you will find Workrider is made of sterner stuff.

Its Rocketfingers and Paulie have that problem,Rocketfingers suffers it when he boards opposing team buses,Paulie gets it during most races which is why he is an expert on the toilet facilities of every racecourse.

Wildmanfromborneo , You deserve a pat on the back yourself , saying Willie would have 4 winners all ridden by different jockeys ..Amazingly AP was the one that let you down ...
Report Santry February 9, 2015 5:57 PM GMT
It was a superb days racing yesterday slightly spoiled by the amount of noise on a constant basis over the public address system. Nicholls Canyon really impressed me and I feel he can follow up at Cheltenham. Apache Stronghold ,under a vintage Paul Carberry paid the days expenses and this is a horse with a big future. Valsour Lido lost nothing in defeat. They will probably renew rivalry next month. The finish of the big race was the only time the P.A. system was drowned out much was the noise of the crowd.
A taster for next month. Can't wait.
