Were you also a fan, poorpup?

I'm glad you didn't see this thread earlier, there were some very hateful and bisexualphobic remarks expressed by one of our more backward contributors.

Last great American Whale was the song I heard one night on the radio that got me hooked from the New York album - Some fantastic lyrics on that one.

My fav lines for no particular reason from Baton Rouge

I once lost a car in a divorce
the judge was a woman of course
she said give her the car your house and the keys
or else I set the trial date !Cool

Great Music and always words than made you smile even if wryly

What a genius

It is terribly sad to think that some people can allow an Artist's sexuality to get in the way of enjoying the Artist's work.

Ozy his parents brought Lou for some electro therapy to try and cure his homosexual tendencies back in the 50's.

Yep a persons sexuality should have nothing do with enjoying the artists work.

Each to their own wildman but many would beg to differ as the VU are touted as one of the most influential bands of all time.

The VU and Nico album lies in 13th place in Rolling Stone magazine all time list.

I'm sorry, do my ears deceive me?

Are you equating bisexuality with paedophelia?

Surely it should be eyes.

My statement is a general one and is in response to your " artists sexuality" remark.

OZY , if you want to come out that's fine with us , no problem , don't keep doing this to yourself , if you're on the other side don't feel you cant tell us , we are an understanding bunch ...Let it all out , man up , opps sorry , an inappropriate phase ...

An artist's sexuality would not influence my enjoyment of their oeuvre whatsoever.

To suggest that this extends to Gary Glitter equates bisexuality and paedophilia.

I find this rather disturbing.

The irony, here, Wonks, which you are unlikely to be capable of grasping, is that it is the most homophobic of people who are most likely to be gay.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/29/opinion/sunday/homophobic-maybe-youre-gay.html?_r=0

I think we can safely assume, until informed otherwise, that Borneo does in fact equate bisexuality with paedophilia.

" artists sexuality " is your term and it doesn't matter to you so presumably the pop singer Gary Glitters sexuality is not relevant either.

They must like Lou Reed here but he was a poor singer and by all accounts an unpleasant character, his only saving grace was his like of Edgar Allen Poe.
The only redeeming feature of the Velvet Underground was their talented female drummer Maureen Tucker, she wasn't as claimed the first female drummer as Honey Lantre of the Honeycombs definitely preceded her but she was probably the best.

Whether or not paedophilia is a sexuality is open to debate, medically it is classed as a pyschiatric disorder.

As you know it is both illegal and immoral, and I don't see how an artist being bisexual would alienate you to the same extent than if they were a paedophile.  Is your homophobia really that potent?
By:
wildmanfromborneo
When: 30 Oct 13 11:46
Its just different degrees.
It may be illegal now but the European Greens wanted to legalise it,Danny The Red the most vocal.

Who are you to decide what is moral or not,you don't allow certain views on morality, old Christian views on morality are now illegal such as church teachings on homosexuality.

You champion certain causes but like all Liberals don't allow differing views.
By:
Ozymandius
When: 30 Oct 13 11:48
Homsexuality is between consenting adults.  And whether you like it or not, is now recognised and protected by law.

How you can equate it with Paedophilia is beyond me.
By:
wildmanfromborneo
When: 30 Oct 13 11:59
Your the one equating it.
Times change, laws change and maybe people more liberal than yourself will decriminalise other sexual practices.

Homosexuality is a sexual deviancy whether you like it or not,I don't agree with the persecution of homosexuals but neither do I agree with its promotion or the new persecution of people who hold traditional Christian values.
By:
Ozymandius
When: 30 Oct 13 12:08
Again..consenting adults versus innocent children..I know who I am more concerned about.

As regards homosexuality being a sexual deviancy, that was the prevalent view a hundred years ago, now updated.

American Psychiatric Association  reclassified homosexuality in 1973. Martin Kafka writes, "Sexual disorders once considered paraphilias (e.g., homosexuality) are now regarded as variants of normal sexuality'.

Your rational is, as ever, Wonks, fundamentally flawed.

It is not necessary to be homosexual to speak up against homophobia.

By your rational and logic, no doubt you assume me to be Black or Muslim?

Christian values?, the Catholic Church was rife with this so called sexual deviancy but it usually involved young boys and I'm not just talking about the 50's and 60's in Ireland but going back to 16th and 17th Century Rome and its many Christian orders where this sexual deviancy was practiced almost routine.
