Excellent stuff Royal Academy. I wonder what are the odds of Camelot being retired to stud in Febuary due to "an injury sustained while being prepared for the Tattersalls Gold Cup"

The truth is the loss of both Montjeu and Danehill in quick succession not to mention the inevitable demise of the great one himself Sadlers Wells has put a huge dent in the once untouchable Coolmore conveyor belt, yes they still have son of Galileo, his legacy is almost as famous as his father already, so I'm sure Coolmore are hardly in panic mode.
They could do with a new trainer all the same, not one that is all consumed by Jesus Christ in our now secular society, oh yeh Aidan don't forget you are the messiah, but only a simple horse trainer after all?, wasn't it great to see Tom Hogan pick up a group one with the vastly improved Lord Gordon, lord it Tom because you don't exist in the sycophantic world of horse racing, if your name is not O'Brien Weld or Oxx you can't train you know? or Sole Power for Eddie Lynam, you can't train fast horses guys, only the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ can? |

to be fair the coolmore 2 year olds look a poor bunch this year, and if they thought the had the next best ever amongst them comealot would be off to stud probably after the irish derby.
he will probably have to stay in training to keep the hype going if the nexts seasons then 3 year olds are as bad as they look. and if he can be campaigned against this years poor crop of three year old they could reignite the best ever bollux. but then again enke may just be a late improving three year old and the gamble might fail if he gets whacked every time next season by him. |

I'm not steadfast in defending anybody but you have an unhealty obsession with the O'Brien family that you really need to get over, you are constantly rambling like a madman about the family and the organisation they work for, some of the times of these ramblings would suggest when liquored up (could be wrong though).

Well I'll put it this way bassanio, Henry Cecil has been virtully hospitalised for nearly the entire 4yr career of Frankel, most probably trained by his assistant and the experienced work riders, yes the horse is something special but when Henry wasn't around he didn't actually crumble in on himself did he, why? because a trainer can't turn an ugly duckling into a swan, in this case a swan to a duckling, but its ok guys its me thats the lunatic because I dare question your pre-concieved ideas of what constitutes a horse trainer, imo the horse defines the trainer not the trainer the horse.

Look premier I can't stand how they operate, I once was a huge admirer of the Coolmore operation now I've lost all respect for them, once you could back their horses with confidence now I'm terrified of touching any of theirs, I'd think twice with stolen money, might be prudent to back them now because Joseph is within touching distance of the jockey championship mind you.
Oh and yes you're right premier I like a drink, I don't think I've ever denied that fact. |

There is an awful lot of judgement in picking the staff to work with you and picking the right men to do the job. It can be clearly seen in cases such as Michael Jarvis where Varian is proving that he was obviously a very capable assistant. Likewise Eddie Hales was the backbone of the Bailey operation.
I don't know the staffing situation in Ballydoyle but I am sure there are many that would have worked alongside or under Vincent and they are worth there weight in gold now. However I am equally sure that Aidan is also something very special as his results have proven ever since he was in Pilltown. If Aidan was allowed to train exactly as he saw fit, I am sure he would be doing some things differently but he must at all times be alive to the fact that he has to promote these horses for stud purposes and at the moment the pressure seems to be getting the better of him. |

Of course Aidan can train horses that there can be no doubt, but I always wondered what other capable trainers not within a country mile of what Aidan has at his disposal think when the media are adorning Aidan with accolades even god himself would be proud of, maybe just maybe another top class horse just won a horse race.
Interesting wouldn't it to hear what these trainers really think bassanio?. |

This seasons flat season has been a near disaster with soft/heavy ground far more in evidence than decent flat ground. While the Ballydoyle 2 y o's look a poor bunch this season I would hold off on definite judgements because of this . There may very well be a couple of classic hopefuls that have yet to see a racecourse.
Have to agree with Royal Academy's post re Joseph O'Brien. It is becoming clearer all the time that he is not a top jockey and as Coolmore is an international business the situation will not continue and something will have to give . Think it would have been better to have him sharing the rides with others and let him gain experience slowly. |

I think the lad (JPOB) will have learned a lot this year irrespective if he is kept on or not,he made some mistakes alright-they all do and even the legendary MJ Kinane had his moments so I wouldn't be too hard on him.

not sure why everyone is completely writing off their 2 yrs olds. fair enough no group 1 winners yet i dont think but plenty of maiden winners that could progress and they're bred to do it.
