It is hard to quantify how much they bring to this country but their breeding operation is rightly regarded as the best in the world,Aiden O`Brien is also rightly regarded as one of the best trainers in the world.
I think they are going through a tough financial time but it doesn`t mean i am against them,far from it. |

Anyone know what Joseph might ride in the 2000 Guineas on Saturday. Power has no chance of staying imo.
Sunday he has the pick of Homecoming Queen and Maybe in the 1000 Guineas. I reckon he will stick with Maybe. What is his likely runner in the Tatts race lads. So You Tink?? Will someone start a Curragh week-end thread as I reckon it will likely produce some lively chat once the entries are out for the two days and the ante post betting is in. |

I think that Tattersalls Gold Cup is probably the biggest sham Group 1 race in Europe.

While respecting all views on here; what price would Power be if this was to be first run of the season ? Does this look a sub-standard 2000gns. Were any real excuses put forward for Power's last run ? Was trainer or jockey quizzed as to his poor run ? Would RL Moore have minded him when his chance was gone ? What won last years 2000gns ? Who rode last years 2000gns winner ? Did he make nearly all the running to win it ? Could Power do the same even after a shocking run at Newmarket ? If he runs and wins what excuses will the trainer use ? Would the stewards ask any questions ? Did Power have any setbacks before Newmarket ?  Are yous still sure he wont stay ? |

with due respect, our leger is competitive, dead heat last year and not won by the fav year in year out, might not be the strongest group 1 but its competitive.
however the Tattersalls Gold Cup is a disgrace, how it gets the 115rating to continue as ag1 is beyond me, |

AOB has 4 3yr olds entered in the Greenlands that are also entered for the 2000 guineas.
The one I find just as interesting as Power is Nephrite, another horse instantly dismissed as a sprinter by many on here after one poor showing, as you know it can often be folly to take a poor run (often deplorable run) from a Ballydoyle inmate at face value?. Makes for an interesting w/ends racing and nobody will be overly surprised if a lesser fancied Coolmore runner or two usurps some of their more fancied runners, well on paper anyway?. |

It's nice to see for a change he is not making a splash in the betting for the 2000 Guineas.
Mightymoyes could be right that Maybe goes for the Oaks. 5/4 about Homecoming Queen is a lay imo. That was a freak result and is unlikely to be repeated. What will beat him is an altogether different poser. |

I notice nearly all the early money has come for Bolgers Parish Hall, I wouldn't be worried on the fitness score with a Bolger runner whether he's good enough is another matter?.
The Coolmore money probably won't come until nearer the race where we'll have a better idea which of their horses are going for what race?. The French horse Hermival at least doesn't have any question marks hanging over him, and it can be argued he might have finished a deal closer in the Guineas if he wasn't racing on what looked the unfavoured far rail, at a general 5/1 seems much the safest option, but no surprise to see a Coolmore outsider make the frame at rewarding odds?. |

4 of O'Briens stand their ground for the 2000 on Saturday jockey arrangements as follows;
Daddy Long Legs - C O'Donoghue, Power - JP O'Brien, Reply - FM Berry, Wrote - S Heffernan. Nephrite still holds that entry for the 6f Greenlands. |

Workrider, Nephrite actually quickened nicely last year to beat the Oxx talking horse Born to Sea over 7f on bad ground suggesting he'd have no trouble getting a mile on better ground?.
Its hard to get a full handle on what seemed a disappointing run first time out this year, as you know some of these Ballydoyle horses are often known to make a mockery of their seasonal debuts?. Camelot apart Nephrite and Power looked two of the more exciting colts from Ballydoyle to keep a keen eye on for the coming season. Interesting w/end of racing ahead, should be a lot more informative come Monday morning. |

i couldn't believe how quickly he folded the last day , i backed it , thought it was just a matter of joesph letting him loose ....they were quick to defend the ride that day .....we'll have proper racing ground for him so no excuses ....

To be honest silver,I am in the opposite camp to the poster above who thinks
HQ fluked the Guineas at Newmarket,and I think she'll destroy them again on Sunday  or  Would just like to see Maybe out of the equation 3/1 for Oaks, mmm a wee bit skinny as you say, was really taken by Gosden filly that won Musidora, after being beaten 11 lengths (was it?) by HQ  Fascinating contender for Epsom at a big price, would be the Varian filly that won at Newmarket last week - potentially miles ahead of that bare from, and I hope they have a sporting go with her  |

The ground has been drying out big time, while HQ looked mighty impressive sometimes on extremes of ground you can get exaggerated winning margins.
But with Maybe looking an almost certain non starter the race looks there for the taking for HQ, a possible spanner in the works might well come from a stable companion. I presume you're on about Pink Damsel for Varian?, that he's willing to run her in the Oaks after just one start suggests they think a bit of her, 33/1 at the time of typing. Have to agree with you about the Gosden horse dismissed one of Coolmores with comsumate ease, hard not to be taken by that performance, a best priced 7/2 general 3/1, I'd rather be on her than Maybe. The Fugue also gave HQ's guineas form a boost. |

 Think the only filly she beat in Oaks was the one that was disqualified  Pink Damsel made a striking impression at Newmarket on debut, and notwithstanding the above, is a fascinating contender |

I think the decision to jock off Ryan Moore and replace him with the Boy Wonder on Homecoming Queen is a crazy move. Furthermore, I am of the opinion that her win in the English Guineas, a la Hawk Wing, was a fluke. I can see Joseph making a hash of the fractions.

100% agree with Gotchee,Ryan moore stole that at Newmarket,i will be amazed if she wins another race in her career like that again, Massive,Massive lay at such ridiculous odds tomorrrow. |

At Newmarket it was his first run of the year on very soft ground? and Ryan [Moore] rang during the week and just said 'he felt like a serious horse during the first half of the race but then he lost in the second half of the race' and we put that down to maybe needing the run? (now that must qualify as the biggest understatement of the year thus far?) and the soft ground?.
"Ryan was anxious that Joseph would ride[b]? him [from the other Ballydoyle runners] and how right he was[/b]. I'm delighted it worked out so well. He has a lot of class and they can't go too fast in a race for him. I have to credit all the team at home including Keith Dalton who rides him out every day -- it's a big team effort. He's a big, powerful horse, hence his name, and I'd say he'll go for the St James's Palace now." You just have to love this guy he wouldn't le straight in bed. |

Anyone see Aidan in the parade ring yesterday with his crew of jockeys ? his race card in his hand and his hands going like a windmill with instructions
yet he tries to put it across that he gave Joseph no orders only for JP to ride Power as he'd find him............and he also gave him no instructions with Camelot in Newmarket and probably wont give the boy any orders next weekend..... |

its getting to a stage now were you seriously have to think of not betting when coolmore has a few runners,too much guessing thinking which 1 they fancy,2nd string finished 1st in 1 of the races today,and the 3rd string finished best in the guinness,at the end of the day they have the best training facilites in the country so to think they are getting it wrong all the time you have to take it with a large pinch of salt,
