sof , was at ascot with a couple of formites one of them elg , is mad about this horse and kept asking me for updates.. was glad to be able to tel him it was making its irish debut today ...he has it backed for the breeders classic at very big prices...

I think the word 'beautiful' should not be used in cnnection with a horse...beautiful horse doesn't sound right....seems too feminine 4me and I feel its best used when describing a WOMAN...yes a beautiful woman....a fine horse, a good lookin animal, a fine specimen of a horse, or as TED says a real good lookin fella...

A couple of very decent rivals today so no way was it a penalty kick for him. The way in which he kicked on in the final couple of furlongs was impressive.

The 2 rivals that you refer to are definitely not Grade 1 performers and he did no more than he was entitled to do.
He is a very imposing type and will improve for the step up to 12f. All the work was done in Australia, but Aidan is the best man not to ruin him over here and he could get a bit more improvement out of him as he was always going to get better as he grew into his impressive frame. |

I should say top class group 1 performers.
Famous Name is acapable of running ok in a decent grade 1 but is group 2 at best. Campanologist has picked up some sub standard group 1 races on the continent. I would expect So You Think to take all the beating at Ascot in July. |

kavvie providing Recital is fit and well then I'm sure they'll take him to Epsom. He'll further improve from his run in the Derrinstown and the trip will be spot on for him, and for Seville too for that matter.
One or two question marks raised about Recital and his head carriage etc, but its immaturity more than anything else. Bear in mind also they were facing a strong headwind there at Leop the last day and that can't have helped him. Kieren did a great job in the saddle and I'd hope he'll keep the ride. Far from certain that though with Native Khan also likely to make the line up. The prelims in Epsom will be important for Recital, so expect his trainer to stay very very close to the horse throughout the whole build up. He does a great job at keeping them calm and Recital will benefit greatly from his calming influence. I hope Recital and Seville both make it to Epsom, as they've both got a great chance. The Queen's horse is the one to beat, and whilst he's a worthy favourite there must surely be a question mark over his ability to get a mile and a half round Epsom. Should be a great race and as always Mrs soldieroffortune and I will be making the trip |

Agreed it's a little disconcerting with big targets at 1m2f --------------------------------- I'd be looking at a longer trip with this hoss,can't see many living with it in the last 2 furlongs of 1ml 4f race. |

Lyons is doing well, in his grade, but the Oxx horses have been atrocious of late. I wouldn't be so sure its all good to be gone if Murtagh is the fella I think he is. Where is his Gr 1 winner coming from, in a lean year down the road he'd ride 7 or 8.

oxxs ran very poorly over the weekend maybe the horses are not right...but this can happen to any stable....the point i'm making neill d is johnny was not prepared to ride stable second string ...if it happens on a regular basis ryan wont either....

This horse made my hair stand on the back of my head. My favourite race at the Curragh each year is the irish derby by a mile. But the sheer power of this horse has really excited me.
Unfortunately I don't think there is another race for him at the Curragh this year. More's the pity. |

Cummings' swipe at Think's Irish rivals
As many Australians stayed up to watch So You Think win in Ireland in the early hours of Monday morning, Bart Cummings slept soundly, sure of the result. The former trainer of the dual Cox Plate winner said it wasn't worth a late night given the strength of the opposition in the Tattersalls Gold Cup. In high spirits after the win of Procyon at Randwick on Tuesday, Cummings was at his mischievous best. "I saw the race this morning," Cummings said. "I wouldn't stay up at night for it. The racing over there isn't worth two bob. "He met better horses than that here. "It might be different when he gets to France, there is better racing there because they don't have bookmakers." Cummings has long been an opponent of corporate bookmakers who he says are bleeding the industry. "If the sheikh (Sheikh Mohammed) left England, racing would be closed down in a month," he said. "When I was last over there I think there were 18 bookmakers in parliament." It is no secret Cummings was upset to lose the horse in a deal done between owner Dato Tan Chin Nam and Coolmore during the spring carnival when the legendary trainer was not in the best of health. Those wounds have healed and Cummings has moved on but he would have welcomed the opportunity to train him for a third Cox Plate. Asked how he thought the horse looked even against inferior opposition, Cummings was succinct. "Not as good as he did here." Just telling it like it is!  |

After the 2008 Melbourne Cup and the Australian media's intense criticism of Aidan O'Brien's tactics, Jim Bolger was asked by the Aussie meida if he ever had a runner Down Under. He said:
"Maybe if you had a proper race over a mile and a half in which colts carried 9st and fillies 8st 11lb, then I might come out. But you think the Cup is one of the best races in the world even though it is a handicap. A handicap? Imagine. That's not what proper international racing should be about." Clearly no love lost between the Irish and Australian trainers, is there? |
