give over robo - you are just now fighting a lone crusade - nobody has said anything but good things about the occasion that was last sundays fai cup final- you are just a wind up merchant with no opinion worth discussing

This Robo bloke has been given far too much time on this thread.

It was a fantastic event - biggest crowd at a Domestic Cup final since 1968. Loads of families and kids there which augurs well for the future.

Couldn't really comment on the merits of the game as too caught up in the occasion. It's a big step for these players coming from crowds of 2k-6k to 36k on the day. The game certainly didn't lack drama either with the penos having everyone on the edge of their seat.

It was nice for a small good news story for once in this time of gloom and doom and horrific events such as those in Newcastlewest and Cork yesterday.

Fair play to the fai and the loi and good day was had by all.....super crowd...credit where credit is due.

Now at least lads know how it feels when Rocketfingers goes on his anti-GAA crusade.

yeah, well done to the fai and loi. Normally two shambolic organisations but they got this right.

And well done to the fans. Now they know what the atmosphere at a typical GAA county final.

well done fai and surely the overall message for all associations in the country is charge the right price and people will go , people are looking for entertainment in this country at the right price.

If the ticket price on sunday was 30 quid maybe 6k would have turned up , 10 quid and its 36k , everyones a winner , players , fans , employment etc etc

Irishlad2 - don't think you get an atmosphere like that at two many county finals certainly not in our neck of the woods.

Lucky to get two thousand at Sligo and Leitrim County Finals.

I think there was only around 6k at Tipp Hurling final.

Anyway lets not go down that route again. There's place for both sports.

In fact in smaller counties like Sligo it's a lot of the same people who attend both codes and even coach both particularly at underage level. Genuine Sportspeople.

Tobywong, Irishlad and gant you can't help yourself having digs, one of the reasons there was such a massive turnout was that both clubs are very well supported. Having Tickets prices at league price levels probably added 1 to 2k to the actual crowd.

As a person who coaches at both GAA football used to do it with Football as well (Oh not forgetting hurling) i am one of these sports mad people Sligo speaks about. I am a genuine sports person. I would also like to mention how both sets of fans were a credit to their clubs the singing was crazy it will be years before any sporting events has the same atmosphere as what was in the Aviva (And yes i am including the Irish soccer team in that).

It added 10 or 20k to the crowd, I don't think anyone apart from you would disagree. I was there a neutral and enjoyed the occasion, but the kids and famalies would not have been going if it was €30 quid a pop.

@ Robo, I have been on here along time, and I have no idea who Wonky is, but it is not a coincidence but good judgement that we have the independently formed the same opinion of you.
