DESERVED A DRAW AND ULSTER WON IN A CANTER ![]() |

Rousing finish doesn't disguise what was 70 mins of total sh!te from Ireland. The Green & Whelan combo in midfield are League 1 class.
By:
70...l0...94 mins of utter tripe...
By:
We are not good enough to sit back and defend, at least Mc Carthy played attacking football and got us results.
Fkn pi$$ed off with this shyte!!! How many poor groups are we going to fk up???? p.s. WD N.Ireland & NORN ![]() |

Dunphy doesn't like Gibson then.
By:
but lets not forget lads that we're just not that good ANYWAY
its a pity, i wish we were better obviously, but we're just a mediocre at the end of the day. |
By:
still top of the world |
By:
Thought Gibson was decent when he came on.
By:
We can still play much better than that though wavey!
If you set up to be negitive you get what you deserve. |
By:
downallstar u should be banned from the forum for that comment - he was brutal - massively overrated
By:
? Gibson? Though he was ok for the few mins he was on, could be wrong though, was caught up in it, sorry eamo...
![]() Dunne having a go at Given and probably the manager for the long ball tactics! |
By:
Amazing how little flack Kilbane gets off the RTE fellas......we were ripped apart down his side.
By:
How can anyone criticise Kilbane. Good player in his time and still dedicated. The younger players in the team are simply not good enough.
By:
DAS , DIDNT SEE YUR GAME BUT SURELY RUSSIA ARE BEST TEAM IN GROUP AN WILL WIN SO REST PLAYING FOR THE SECOND PLACE ? AN NO REASON Y THEY CANT QUALIFY
By:
..in his time... Joe!
Whole team was poor and awol for 70mins, so was the management. We have no leader in the mid field, that is a massive negitive. |

Whelan is grand. He has played plenty of games and knows what he has to do. I hope he is ok for for the Slovakia game. I never thought I would say it but Andrews is a huge loss. The two of them had a good understanding through the last campaign and Green is just horrendous. Can't pass, no touch, can't tackle.
We can't afford to have lads like Duff and Hunt injured. If they were fit I'd pick them on the wings. McGeady has never had a good game for Ireland. He's pathetic. I can't believe Celtic got over £9million for him. Lawrence is a great worker and you have to like his attitude. Well worth his place in the squad and even if everyone was fit, he would be there or thereabouts. Dunphy is right about Gibson. He was rubbish when he came on and his delieveries were poor. Lawrence would have done better if he was left on. The less said about Kilbane the better. He is so bad, Ian Harte is nearly worth a call again. Need to lift it now for Slovakia. |

Decent summary Icc.
Fk I must have been looking at the wrong player re: Gibson!? |

NORN IRON TAKE GIBSON BACK
![]() |

Dont know why they haven't Dunphy, Giles and Brady aren't managing Ireland anyway. They way they talk a game they would have the Republic 3 up against Brazil in 20 mins.

I am sorry Diamond Joe but Kevin Kilbane has never been a particularly good player for Ireland. He now attracts more criticism because he is obviously past it. Gets exposed regularly and has no pace whatsoever.
Gibson is a one dimensional player that is never going to make the grade at Man Utd. Not a particularly good passer and his delivery from a dead ball is poor. He needs to move and get an extended run in someone's first team. Keith Fahey currently offers a lot more. |
By:
The most frustrating thing about this is trap continues to ignore young technical talented players like coleman and mccarthy for moderate championship players. Dunne carried ledger tonight, and that green was so bad. He has no touch, no football brain, no positional sense, poor awareness, and reaction to situations is that of a division 2 player.
The Icchantika - I'm not a fan of mcgeady, but he was are most dangerous player. |
By:
Thats fair enough, The Icchantika. I wouldnt say Kilbane has ever been amazing at any time in his career but he has been solid and dependable and doesnt deserve to be singled out as opposed to the rest. Kilbane though was not the cause of tonights result. Truth is the team as a whole are simply not good enough. People criticise Green yet this kid plays for Derby....what do they expect? If Keith Fahey (Who is an honest player no doubt) is the alternative then it says alot about the current state of Irish football.
By:
disagree djq, he's ignoring better players.

Gutted after that

No he wasn't Vinnie. He flattered to deceive as per usual. He now has 39 caps, 0 goals and I'm pretty sure he only has 2 assists. We win the ball and he loses it. With everyone fully fit he would not be in the side, as we saw in Paris last year. Can't pass, can't shoot, can't cross, rubbish at dead balls. It is grand looking nice on the ball but he cant't do a thing with it.
We have plenty of options in the middle but Fahey is the one most likely to make the breakthrough. James McCarthy looks a good player, Andy Reid is back from injury, Andrews will soon be fit, Marc Wilson can play there, to mention but a few. Depends what Trap wants to do. Kilbane deserves to be dropped. The problem is a replacement is not obvious. Coleman does not defend well enough yet. He has been abysmal at the back for Everton this season, giving away penalties and fouling. Were he to prove himself, O'Shea could go across. Cunningham has far too little experience. Ward at Wolves might be worth a look, but if Trap likes him he would have been in before now. St Leger has done well at the back. McGeady and Kilbane offer no protection down that side and that, combined with Green offering nothing in centre mid, will always leave centre halves under pressure. Richard Dunne is a big worry. He has had a bad start to the season, looks to be carrying weight, and has issues with his knees. We need him there for a few years yet. |
By:
The Icchantika can you name the abysmal mistakes Coleman is making at the back For Everton when any game he has started has been on the right side of midfield as well as that Coleman is not left sided player so you can forget about him replacing Kilbane. How many penos has he given away this season in the prem? He give away 1 away to Brentford, get your facts straight. St Ledger was terrible tonight a shambolic effort at jumping for headers fouling his player the whole time the defense not helped by our midfield and the Russians running through them at will. Andy Reid had his chance not good enough although it could be argued that he is worth his place in that midfield, but is not a solution to our midfield issues. Whelan to me was worse than pathetic he was shocking tonight, Keane laughable effort to lead a team wants a kick up the back side, McGeady very poor as usual.
By:
Mcgeady tries to beat too many players but he was far more influential and intelligent tonight. Early on, cut inside, shot rebounded to keane who should have struck it first time. He also played a lovely through ball to keane that just needed one final accurate pass. Nearly scored late on, and tracked backed through out the game. The big problem was in central midfield - there extra man helped but green was just pathetic.
Coleman and mcarthy should be involved, maybe in a attacking 4-5-1 system, which will obviously mean keane or doyle will be dropped. |
By:
Ireland are useless. may as well just admit it.
Arshavin Vs Keith Fahey or Green etc.... cmon its no contest |
By:
Where did I say he had given anything away in the prem? He absolutely flattened Kevin Nolan in the box against Newcastle and got away with it. He handled in the box last week and got away with it. He is very poor defensively but he has scope to improve. I'd love if he did.
If you read my post, I suggested that if he developed O'Shea could be moved across to left full. I was merely suggesting that we have options in centre mid. When will Dave Meyler be back from injury? Looked a promising player. Whelan has done well and deserves his place. McGeady did not track back throughout the game and he certainly didn't for their second goal. That 4-5-1 is not going to happen under this manager, who is doing an excellent job with the resources at his disposal. We don't have the players for it anyway. Anyone who wants to drop Keane or Doyle needs their head examined. |
