"Last season the much loved Voy Por Ustedes claimed the title, picking up 76 points over 5 races, including two Grade 1 victories, and landing his connections the valuable first prize.
£100,000 is up for grabs, with the prize money to be distributed among the winning horse's owners, traniner and stable staff"

Weak staying division this year imo- Big Bucks gonna mop up a lot of handy prizes, just depends how much they run him but at 3/1 prob a bit short
VPU probably the only other 1 that would interest me though so dunno

I hope C.Byrnes takes Weapons Amnesty down the World Hurdle route. He had unconvincing outing and then a fall. Mightnt be a natural to the chasing game another poor showing and its back hurdling if not decieded already!
W.A can match BB firepower
Have him backed at 70s for the W.H
Like Denman alot, this is going to be a clean up tr for him G.C & G.N

Past winners Voy Por Ustedes 76 pts in 2009 Kauto Star........100pts in 2008 Kauto Star........110 pts in 2007 Royal Shakespare 87pts in 2006 Inglis Drever.......94pts in 2005 ........................................................................................
How does the Points System work? The way the competition is scored has been designed to reflect the relevant grade of each race and the horses finishing position, therefore rewarding both excellence and participation.
What prizes are available? The prize fund for the Racing for Change Order of Merit is £100,000 and winner takes all!
The prize fund is then distributed as follows:
50% of the prize goes to the owner(s) of the horse 20% to the trainer 30% to the winning stable staff .....................................................................................................
You really need a horse capable of winning at least 3 grade ones and 2 grade twos with the odd place inbetween as 90 pts seem to be the average winning mark.
Another problem with it is the Prize fund this year is greatly reduced. As what grade 1 owner is going to be chasing £50k in April if he already had a successful season and risk ruining the horse for next year. Few of the top horses now run 6 times a year so I personally don't think its a competition worth now getting involved in. As I don't think anybody will be targeting it now unlike in the past when it was worth at least double that and had prizes for the place contestants. Plus Irish races are excluded.......Cheers

I think Master Minded or Well Chief, they will carve up the races between them. Tingle Creek Game Spirit Queen Mother The one at Sandown on Whitbread Gold Cup Day can't remember the name. I think Big Zeb only likely to come over for Cheltenham, probably only leaves Kalahari King as a threat ,and he needs decent ground.

When Royal Shakespeare won his owner had come to an arrangement with monkerhostin's owners to stop them both running in any remaining points races and bringing the sport into disrepute

was only one race left 2mile chase at sandown, rs was declared though had never run over fences, and monker was knackered . glad they shook hands, would have been a horrific sight

Can't agree about them sharing that year and neither did the bookies.
I backed Monkerhostin that year and all he had to do was complete a 2 mile course with only 5 other runners to win the title. They pulled him out after they agreed to split the money and poor auld Bless lost his money. :(
12 Months later Monkerhostin was still running on the final day of the Winter season and won the Whitbread at that meeting. So much for those boys who said they were killing the horse chasing the Outright title in 2006.
Still got it right the last Two years with Vop Por Ustedes and Kauto well it was more the case of I knew Snoopy Loopy was going to get enough points last year even if he had 58pts by November.

Win only, Royla Shakesperse wasn't declared they were threaten to.
Monkerhostin was and was among the 6 runners declared for the race and in those days points were awarded down to 6th.
That loss still hurts for me ;) cost me about a grand.

Just looking at Monkerhostin record in 2006 ran 8 times in all. From November to April. :(
Madness they didn't run him all he had to do was complete the course 8 flippant fences over 2 miles.
I could do it myself before heading for the high stool on a average day. x-(

royal shakespear was declared at the 5 day stage for the event, this is what prompted the handshake and carve up - as monker was oot and rs had never jumped a fence.

I'm pretty sure been so heavily involved at the time that they only threaten to declare him he certainly wasn't declared overnight as you can get that on the internet still.
Monkerhostin was among the 6 runners declared on the Friday.
Either way Royal Shakespeare next race anyway was over fences anyway where he finished 2 lengths 2nd to Twist Magic. So he obiviously took well to fences anyway.
While the poor auld OVERRACED according to some on here 8/9 year old Monkerhostin after his 8 races.
Came back the following year 2007 to run 3rd in the King George, 4th in the Gold Cup and started favourite for the Aintree Grand National and finish 2008 winning the Whitbread Gold Cup over 3 mile 5 furlongs on the last day of the season .
And now 3 seasons later is still running off top weight as a 12 year old in £35,000 handicaps inbetween getting beaten by a head giving 2 stone to some donkey called NICHE MARKET.
Defintely that 2 mile jaunt at his own speed over 8 fences at Sandown on perfect going would have just killed that horse instead of putting his name into imortality as a winner of the Order of Merit along side Kauto Star, Voy per Usteds and Ingris Dever...Who are you kidding?
Racing was r0bbed of a true Champion Order of Merit winner by that stupid decision...Cheers

1. royal shakespeare was declared at the 5 day stage, suprising that someone who appears to know everything didnt know this - connections agreed to split the prize so neither were declared overnight.
2. monkerhostein was massively overraced that year to win the prize, and the fact they got him back was a miracle
lets have a look at the evidence
just 13 days after aintree (having also contested the gold cup)

Anyway your picking at straws if thats all you can come back with.
The fact is on only his 3rd outing over fences he was 3rd to Jack the Giant and Twist Magic in the Wayward Lad chase at Kempton at Christmas giving them 4lbs and beaten only 4 lengths by Twist Magic. That makes about 2 lengths off level weight according to the handicapper. :^0

Nah I'm talking about his Kempton Park run at Christmas your talking about Falkenham which is the racecourse version of running around a flippant saucer.
You know the winner of that Sandown 4 runner race would have been 20lbs worse off in a handicap with the Monk and he only had to finish 6th in a 4 horse field.
Some of the runners he was over 20Lb better in running last against them was never going to kill him. :(
Personally I think it was a disgrace how that Order of Merit ended and the biggest mystery to me is how they weren't charged with bringing racing into dispute. As surely it was no different to when the motar racing teams give orders to their drivers not to pass each other on the last lap. :0
Its just not sport imo......Cheers
