Which only highlights the utter stupidity of the Affordability Checks carried out by a Quango with absolutely no experience of the Gambling Industry and are hell bent on stopping gambling without a single challenge from the hapless BHA

Like Gosden alluded to, we have a government. They could easily just tell these bottom feeders to take a hike.

They won't.

Governing is all about feels now obviously. Freedom of choice, accountability for personal decision making is so passé.

The sheep accept anything they say down on the circus…..

Spineless nation tbh.

True Formy, pathetic reactions from BHA, owners, Track owners, etc, who all went down without a whimper.

Punters have repeatedly opposed the checks.
It is for the BHA to take action as nothing the punters have said makes the slightest difference to the Anti GC

The anti manure ruled the national….

Now this, probably detest the game tbh, probably see it as vulgar…..

Deep down they wouldn’t give a jot if a thousand punters a day blew their home tbh……self importance, look good but don’t care…

Hate is a dreadful word i seldom use but i hate this lot tbh.

I think racing should pool it's resources and hire Lawyers to challenge this all the way to the

Supreme Court on the grounds that it is unacceptable for the Government to restrict what people

spend their money on as long as it's legal.

"Despise" would be more appropriate.
If these Zealots succeed here, what is the next target?

What does the GC say about oncourse punters doing their Bollix in. ?? Or casino punters ??

Whats the difference to anyone "compelled" to put a bet on.

.... National lottery, scratch cards ......   etc etc.

Omaze bingo postcode lottery the most pernicious.

But obviously it's nothing to do with the underclass separating themselves from their benefit income.

It seems to be getting forgotten that although the books are now getting their collective knickers in a twist over this can we please remember that long long long before the AC checks were ever a thing the books were restricting punters left right and centre, and the only reason they are complaining now is because of the fines that they are in line to face should someone sell the family silver in order to play the casino filth.

And if the AC did get defeated all that would happen is that sports bettors would still find themselves restricted and the books would once again have free reign to fleece the casino fish.

Obviously duffy, I doubt anyone is supporting bookmakers. The genesis of that issue is racing being dependent on their profit rather than revenue.

As I've covered ad infinitum, this 'fight' should have been framed as sensibility, personal responsibility and realism over self aggrandising social justice warriors. There's absolutely nothing anyone can do to stop people doing stupid things. There are not too many people around that haven't done stupid things themselves. Liberalists always seem to have a dream that they can eliminate people making mistakes through state/central control. They. Can't.

Affordability is just a means to an end. The end is a ban on horse racing.

The outcome was written in stone before the GC started. Their remit was to look into the harmful

effects of gambling. At no point has any consideration been given to the positive aspects of playing

the horses in a World that has otherwise, become totally dumbed down.A curse on the lot of these

interfering bustards!

So these unelected, unaccountable, bureaucratic, tyrants get to destroy a multi million pound industry which employs thousands and provides entertainment for millions, get to impose affordability checks on any punter who losses more than £33 per day. Its non of their business how we choose to spend our money. Absolute kill joys

someone sell the family silver in order to play the casino filth.

if someone sells the family silver, spends 38 quid of it to get into a racetrack and spunks the other 30 grand on the first favourite nobody cares ?

but if he sells it and wants to deposit £200 on here he has gamblers anonymous round his house asking to see his latest equifax

I was subject to ACs sometime ago.
I won £600 on a Craven winner Masar 2018.
I was required to produce the usual documentation before I could withdraw..
I did this as I wasnt going to lose the money.
It took me 6 weeks to get it.
If they implement this tactic then that is a big problem.

No you weren't, ACs didn't exist in 2018. You were subject to source of funds checks, or more accurately the abuse of source of funds checks by a bookie desperately trying to use an angle to avoid paying out.

Another imbecile123 tale that does not hold water.

Slots were not permitted in betting offices until 1996.   Certainly non existent in the 1980s.

What's to stop them asking if you can afford to have a few pints, and if you can't , denying you the privilege . How the hell did it come to this.

That was the death knell for the bettin shop 'community'. The atmosphere changed almost overnight.
I appreciate why it happened, to maintain revenue but it killed the betting shops.
Decent punters buggered off.
