using the two number matches under the new rules and the old rules as a guide, it looks like ticket sales have fallen by a least a third. The desperate mass advertising also gives a clue.

It's a joke. Last saturdays must be won resulted in one ticket winning £9 Million on the second draw. If they had left it as it was, a lot of people would have shared that £9m.

Because the email says it is a SMALL prize, they've even robbed you of that couple of minutes fantasising about a life free from KFC bargain buckets.

Had just over two thousand for five numbers, but that was a long time ago. Used to have two lines, but never bothered after they increased the price.

They had a decent product when they started at a pound a go. Then got greedy, more draws, adding more numbers to ensure bigger jackpots. Introducing scratch cards then putting the price up.

No wonder they are in a mess. And deserve to be.

every aspect of these draws is a mug bet except when theres a massive roll-over

there are thousands who do 123456 every week. theyd get about 100 quid for a 49m/1 shot. i hope it happens

almost all the big winners have been with numbers 30+, for obvious reason. but still the mugs dont get it

I have also seen people wasting their money on the hot picks. 59 numbers and the true odds of winning £800 are 1624/1! You are significantly better off betting on the Irish Lottery with the bookmakers. You are picking from only 47 numbers and some bookmakers pay £800 yet the true odds for 3 numbers are 809/1.

If numbers betting is your game, you will win at least twice as often on the Irish and lose significantly less.

By the way there is 1 independent bookmaker paying 825/1 for 3 numbers on the Irish meaning you can play to win free money!

How: cover all 47 numbers in 16215 trebles @ £1 (If you have a spare £16K) and you are guaranteed a return of £16520 - a win of £315 risk free!

Couldn't tell you when I lost bought a ticket but it was years ago.

It winds me up how the narrative surrounding the lottery, bingo and these inane word games that keep popping up in the ad breaks, not to mention the winning of the house is completely at odds to the demon gambling narrative that most of us are used too.

Selective blindness by the powers that be duffy, all those shows that advertise competitions that you enter by text get away with it too (usually £2 a pop).

Then we have the likes of Omaze - £15 minimum subs per month. Of course they and others offer a "free" postal entry but how many would go for that ? You have to buy a stamp anyway so may as well just pay to enter. But by allowing "free" entries they don't need a license from the gambling commission apparently.

dont believe any bookmaker would pay 825/1 for a 809/1 shot

even if nobody permed all numbers it would be a loser ever time

The lottery is deliberately structured to keep people poor. It isn’t technically a scam, but it is engineered to:

extract money from those with the least,

offer impossible, astronomical odds,

use psychology to keep people playing,

and return far less value than it takes in.

People in financial stress keep playing out of hope and desperation, while the rich don’t need to. There’s no logic to it — yet millions cling to birthdays, “lucky numbers,” and rituals that mean nothing in a game of pure randomness.

If you want to see the typical lottery mindset, just watch Deal or No Deal. You’ll see perfectly intelligent people acting as if there’s a strategy in a game built entirely on chance. That’s the psychology the lottery depends on: the belief that luck can be controlled, patterns exist, and the next choice might finally change everything.
