You need someone steeped in racing in all facets of the game in charge. Someone who understands it from ALL angles. Never happen of course.

Asking the jockey what his intentions were, after the race, is bordering on farce.

And it never occurred to the muppets that the decision might be used crookedly in an attempt to set a precedent. He didn't actually mention that it was the Derby, did he? Didn't see the whole interview (never watch ITV "racing").

It is the craziest piece of nonsense in my 60+ years of following racing.
Does it just apply to Coolmore horses with stud value ?

And the Post today gave much less space to it than I was hoping for, with a couple of paragraphs of criticism from Richard Hughes but otherwise just fence-sitting

Don't want to upset the establishment I guess, but it's usually not wanting to upset their advertisers, the bookies, who were not happy obviously...a fine balancing act for them

The bloated South African warthog was entirely to fault for this ludicrous decision.
That the cretin even asked Moore what his riding intentions were clearly showed what he was looking to back up what he wanted.
The horse caused its own problems and was a runner as AOB said,"its just racing".
Brant should have tossed the cretin under the bus where he belonged but was clearly trying to save face for the Ruling Body and made it even worse.
The fat ponce has previous for dodgy decisions

Epsom should have it's rights to the Derby and Oaks revoked. It won't happen, but it should.

its the universal rule of betting if you can't win you cannot lose
and every layer of that fav yesterday could only lose because if it won they aren't going to be announcing sorry that bet is void

totally unacceptable cannot possibly remain for the credibility of the sport

That should be a RP article about this one, in those betting terms stated - let's not hold our breath though...

That's the part I couldn't understand  when the chief steward was being interviewed he mentioned Moores plans were going to be a prominent ride, wtf has that got to do with anything! That in itself was telling that the ruling was a farce.

He should have said what he was going to do to stop the same thing happening again.

referring to a horse as "the favourite" is wholly inappropriate as well GC
it's the horse's name or saddlecloth number for officialdom

in a situation where corruption isn't prevalent, betting is an irrelevance, race tactics are an irrelevance & connections of the horse are an irrelevance

Should still be placed in context of above point:

if you cannot win (layers) then you should not be able to lose either - which was not the case here, if it had won.

Dunshea added: "Each case has to be dealt with on its own circumstances".
No No - you cannot do that at all !
Rules are supposed to be Black or White - he is introducing a limitless Grey area

Maybe calandagan should have been deemed a non runner. Clearly had zero chance with the amount of fallen rain. Punters who backed him were pickpocketed and surely deserve their money back.

Subjective 'plans', particularly when voiced AFTER the event, cannot possibly have anything to do with rule-making in any sport.
