This . technology has killed the in running markets . the drones and GPS did that . i suspect betfair now prop up the markets themselves . in the last few years i have never had so many clicks on a horse that the price/money instantly disappears and lowers to a stupid amount and odds within the 1 second delay . sometimes i might want to green up or red out on a horse using the ladder on gruss and as soon as i press the button where the money is available for me i am front runned .

the other issue is liquidity. if you lay a horse and want to get out of the bet there is nothing there. yesterday there was a horse that won, can't remember exactly it's price or name, but it was around 20s pre off, the only real money to get out of the bet was around 2.4 ish

pre drones and GPS 400k a race was easily matched, even more . the liquidity bot providers got picked off even more so than they did with facetime. sis etc .

how does turnover on the horse racing compare for the last 10 years on the exchange compared to bookmakers , as in has the exchange dropped but not the bookmakers ?

Why would you risk blowing all of your profit on one bet? I tend to bet to small stakes and take very defensive positions by laying off in running at half of the original bet price. Only ever bet on Betfair, bet place only quite a lot. I got my loss down to £50 last year despite having a bet most days. I am happy to stake £5 on a race and win £2. I do it purely for amusement and have no illusions about a long term profit.

I am up £6k since lockdown, but £4k of that was purely on 2 up football matched betting with b367, before i made the braindead decision to start betting on norwegian summer football...account gubbed immediately. I never lay any horses pre off, rare SIRLs only.

I back the ones at big prices and ride out inevitable massive losing runs

Yes Freddie Williams bit intake each race on its merits. Every race is different if I can't find a bet I try and find a lay

I can pick winners I just need to be smarter
I cannot chance them losses it's gone.

Tomorrow I think there is another cert and I think it will be my only bet I just cannot see the horse losing. Touleen. 2-1 was a great price,I think it will go off 5-4. Burrows is a trainer I have a lot of time for.

I also fancy Leadman at Thirsk but I may leave that as trainer is bang out of form.

its something to blame when you dont think quick enough or press the button quick enough to obtain the odds shown on the screen, especially in the last 110 yards of a race.

TTT, are you quick enough to beat the 1 sec delay after showing your hand?

Studying form hard and still  applying a cautious approach (mainly not having too many bets) paid off for years

Then suddenly Betfair allows people to lay horses, dogs, to lose, surprise surprise (said nobody whatsoever), more horses than ever get stopped  and not just because they are being laid out for future handicaps

Hence it’s much harder now to make it pay

someone wants to back £5 at 10/1 with 110 yards on a horse thats been headed. do you think youre the only one trying to take his fiver ? if its you and 1 other, its 50/50 who gets it. probably dozens maybe even hundreds trying to nab it.

i dont play inrunning but thats how i see it. but if it really is how you say it is, i wouldnt bother playing. good luck.

I did the same last year at goodwood, laid the group one winner £100 @ 164 I'm either just unlucky or thinking too much into it.

Ageingpunter 16 May 26 17:52
I know mate. It's the hardest game in the world and ruthless.
I layed the group one winner at Goodwood last year, think I laid 144 for 60 quid. That stung.

to be a decent liar needs a decent memory.

The Group One winner at Goodwood last year that Ageingpunter refers to was Qirat in the Sussex Stakes.

If memory serves that was the very same race as the one where someone on here had created a topic early-on that morning suggesting the odds-on favourite was nailed on to finish in the first 3.  Sadly, it finished 4th.

Well I never, look who created the topic....

thankfully that same punter has amassed over £3,335,000 in betfair winnings which can all be proofed.

sadly both top2rated and acey dopey have amassed lifetime prophets of absolutely fck hall.

put that in your pipe and smoke it 😆
