I pulled up my accounts and I'm down 124k.

I get in a run then I lay a big one then back to square one again.

I laid the winner at Newmarket today £50 @ 76.
Shame as I was on a decent run and profits wiped out.

I did the same last year at goodwood, laid the group one winner £100 @ 164 I'm either just unlucky or thinking too much into it.

I know warrick hunt will be in front but what about everyone else?.

It's the hardest game in the world and ruthless sometimes.

It's an extremely tough game, if you rely on winnings from horse racing.

Making a smaller side profit, still tough, but more possible. I truly believe over-reaching, and trying for too much earnings, is the biggest problem in being a winner in racing gambling. Game can cut you in half the second you try for a big one, it seems to just know.

But steady small earnings, still difficult, the way to go with it. All IMO.

Regard it as a hobby now and make small consistents profits which certainly wouldn't be enough to live on but a welcome supplement to my pensions.

When non-racing people ask me, my answer is usually "it's a very cheap hobby".

It's probably of no consolation now Ageingpunter but spare a thought for those on here that followed the advice of a prominent poster on here.

He started a topic son 30 July 25 uggesting that a horse in that Group One at Goodwood you refer to was backable at 1.06 to finish in the 1st 3.

He said "this is a full bank..pawn the lot and invest".

It came 4th.

Brian, if you're supplementing your pension it must be a free hobby surely?!

I don't wager on here it took me a few years but I found a great alternative it's Via skrill payments but I can lay or back what I want 2% commission.withdraws are 3 days but that's cool with me.withdrew upto 3k no issues. Kyc very basic.all my UK accounts limited to 500 per month it's pointless.

U had 300 on that Skelton horse sat.....saying it was ten pounds well in.....at. 3/1. Drifted and won at 4/1. Everyone saying well done after race.......Up a grand. Then u risking 4 grand on a Stuart will rag. That's not run in 6 months to win a measley 50 squid

Scientists don't really know how the sun works, could burn out any time. But worth taking 1.01 it won't be tomorrow.

Plenty of people winning in 2020 won't be winning much in 2026. Rico included.

once technology took over it was doomed for man with eyes, bots and gps killed IR for the majority, which is a shame because it would still be a game of skill with more level playing field on the pic front. my best year was 2019, downhill ever since!
