Anyone else noticed Betfair have changed the jockey silks to a worse quality - showing up more pixelated and less colour accurate for me on Gruss in running grid and making it harder to identify horses? Word is Betfair have switched silks supplier.

yes

just put up similar. thought it was me

can you switch supplier? surely there is one rights-holder?

forum iffy for an hr, not seen anything diff on silks either BA or main site
Report Busyfool March 3, 2026 4:19 PM GMT
odd. they are a lot worse here and wherever the tigre is
Report duffy March 3, 2026 4:22 PM GMT
Same here, they have changed recently to completely fill the box but the quality is lessened, today there is a version that shows them almost flourescent and pixelated looking, put them back to where they sort of fill 3/4 of the box which makes them solid and learer to identify.
Report duffy March 3, 2026 4:23 PM GMT
clearer
Report elise March 3, 2026 4:28 PM GMT
we've had selective stuff before where some users see different to others, it's normal here, just tried turning off and on for silks and came back same
Report harold_lloyd March 3, 2026 4:37 PM GMT
the colours for UK racing seems the same, but for the irish racing the silks don't fill the box in gruss and they also look like the crap silk graphics they use for french or south african racing
Report Cider March 3, 2026 4:48 PM GMT
they changed in the standard wen ui for me. not positively !

Report Cider March 3, 2026 4:49 PM GMT
Report duffy March 3, 2026 4:50 PM GMT
The UK racing silks have changed, they are larger but messier, the silks I used to have filled 3/4 of the box but were far clearer.
Report Cider March 3, 2026 4:53 PM GMT
not as aesthetically pleasing. to put it mildly
Report harold_lloyd March 3, 2026 4:53 PM GMT
possibly Duffy , i can't remember how they are meant to look . i thought they might look a bit crappy the last week or so , similar to the silks for the foreign racing .

i think they tried to do this years ago and people complained so they changed it back

Wood bee more concerned about lv  being a phurlong behind than colours.

Newcastle a prime example, why is it so bad?

wtf with the flat silks today ?

all grey
Report blackbarn March 5, 2026 1:20 PM GMT
Clouded.  The colour descriptions have been missing for days. The images, although poorer are only relevant with the proper descriptions.   Perhaps with the new images we will be having Jim Joel's colours as Dark Grey with Dark Pink Cap.

another corrupt aspect of the graphs is the totals matched (traded) at prices are not accurate- which is alarming for a company that maintains a peer to peer stance- but that is not new

im struggling with these colours. scared to click in case ive got the wrong one. made a cobblers of thurles so far

is it a laptop problem or display settings issue?

did you see that last race at saint cloud?

winner clear and still backable at 9 and i only stopped when i thought it was too good to be true and id missed something. and bearing in mind the delay

but got paid and saved me wretched day  Tongue Out
Report duffy March 5, 2026 5:16 PM GMT
There's clearly been a change, the colours used to be encased into about 3/4 of the box, not filling the whole box like one big blob, that's the UK stuff, the irish stuff never used to be flourescent and pixelated like it is now, it's clearly different and if anyone thinks there hasn't been a change, hover over the colours and see if the description appears!
Report faciletigre March 5, 2026 5:31 PM GMT
I DM'd Betfair to complain. Apparently the change is permanent due to a change in the provider of the silks images.
Report duffy March 5, 2026 5:42 PM GMT
I emailed gruss and Gary there said he'd send me a link or download or whatever in a couple of days to be able to adjust the silks.

You can adjust the row heit now which might help some.
Report duffy March 5, 2026 5:42 PM GMT
height
Report faciletigre March 5, 2026 6:22 PM GMT
Cheers Duffy - adjusting the row height does help a little but does limit the number of runners viewable in large field hcaps. Hope the Gruss link helps fix things. Just checked the previous version of the silks - the jockey caps are much bigger, colours richer and with better contrast and truer to reality and the shape of the silks is more rounded and not angular with more white space around them making identification easier.

@TM

"Every time that I manage to convince myself that you actually aren't Betfair's Director of Product Development - you go and write something like that! ^ Grin"

I genuinely like them, especially the ability to zoom in on a timeframe or just see in-running.

@Cider

Sorry, couldn't make out what was the issue with the graphs you meant other than the total traded amounts - I confess I had not picked the latter up, will see what I can find to check them against.
Report duffy March 6, 2026 3:58 PM GMT
The enlarged block colours for the UK racing look much sharper and brighter today IMO, the irish ones still poor.
Report loper March 6, 2026 4:04 PM GMT
The absence of the description when you hover the mouse over them is just as big a problem as when the colours don't seem to quite match the shade the jockey is wearing, at least the description helps in removing some ambiguity.
Report The Management March 6, 2026 4:08 PM GMT
@ Longbridge - I like them too (as a concept) but sadly the graphs and the charts have about as good a relationship with each other, as Charles had with Diana!

So I have to I agree with cider Shocked

I will have to look more closely and see if I can replicate/understand Cider's viewpoint - thanks.
Report Cider March 6, 2026 4:28 PM GMT
The graph shows circa 270 matched top, however the figures show a material match at 530 (another at 450). That was just a random example, but the graphs don't match the activity, effectively. Or can't be relied upon. Maybe they filtered out a minimum back price, but the layer (or layers) has bet over £2K. That's just daft. Filter out 1p and 2p if you want for sure, not material bets.
Report duffy March 6, 2026 4:38 PM GMT
How the colours are displayed for the Meydan racing today is what we want to get back to.
Report longbridge March 6, 2026 4:39 PM GMT
Cider - thanks - I had noticed that the extreme prices do not always show on the default view, but I thought I recalled that they showed when zoomed in to the time period in question - I hall have another proper look on tomorrow's racing. Thanks again.

sorry missed this, yes the winner got matched at 999 half furlong out and i'd imagine someone was chucking a bit back before the close
Report duffy March 6, 2026 5:20 PM GMT
There is another issue that I thought I spotted a coupledays ago and that Irish race saw it too, where you've got horses from the same ownership the colours are not differentiating the cap colours, can't remember if it was on a UK race or Irish the other day, but if it's across the board it's going to be a nightmare with the Gigginstown and JP horses next week.
Report elise March 6, 2026 5:29 PM GMT
16.02 naas 2moro shows diff caps on main site & for me on BA, i've not seen that happen either i must be going blind
Report duffy March 6, 2026 5:37 PM GMT
Yeah me too, hopefully false alarm then, that last race though at Dundalk had the same ownership on the winner and another and the caps were the same, perhaps that one and the one the other day were anomalies.
Report elise March 6, 2026 5:42 PM GMT
your boys have mounted a bit of a recovery, sad times for us abu's
Report faciletigre March 6, 2026 5:43 PM GMT
I've noticed the lack of differentiation on the caps too duffy. The drop in quality is a backward step. Seems we now have 3 different types of silks graphics - UK, Ireland and Meydan. What a mess.
Report duffy March 6, 2026 5:54 PM GMT
elise,

back down to earth the other night though, there may be a slight case of over achieving going on , much the same as Villa have enjoed all season where singular moments of quality have papered over the cracks somewhat, it may be that games like the other night are a blessing in disguise...that's how I'm spinning it anywayLaugh

they switched suppliers a few weeks ago for commercial reasons : to save money , but we get a downgraded service now Excited

Betfair has gone for the cheapest product. As such the quality has suffered.

Appears I can no longer read the horse name, nor see half the silks on my API. But yes, only Irish meetings so far.
