Where has this Mark Walsh been these last few seasons? |
By:
handed over the handbrake baton

Pretty much any upper tier jockey would have won on his winners at the meeting
By:
well that turned out fantasticaly wierd ,FOF put up by value + on sat at 8,s,put up agains yesterday for todays race at 10,s and wins at 9 to 2,

Took keen hold, towards rear but in touch with leaders, not fluent 5 out, no extra from 3 out
Certainly stayed better than Kempton Won , Comedy imo All we need is Horses for courses and sun on his back for thinking in the gold cup to finnish the sport off ![]() |
By:
Cobden will do well to emulate Walsh particularly around the Irish tracks which take a bit of getting used to,can't help but feel Walsh was involved in the decision by probably signaling retirement but who knows.

By:
I had a small bet on Firefox ,ran very well

By:
keen & more towards the inner...unless sectionals come back crazy was impossible for the winner to do that
By:
every run ftf has had in open company it hasn't seen out extended 3 miles well, even john durkan over shorter didn't
By:
You can't tell me Harry would have got beat on that lol.
Just coincidence that some of the JP 'stars' turned up at this meeting. Somehow predicted by the market, not that unusual with these silks ![]() |

Same with Spillanes Tower the other day, springs back to life with the application of cash.

May well be so. But doubt Cobden would have insisted on leading on two of them, against what Willie thought, leading to much improved performances. |

Who knows MJK. Cobden doesn't need any help with tactics. But who actually decides what happens with the JP mob, does anyone know?
Fact is that all of his winners have had pounds in hand. |
By:
Talking of horses springing back to form from nowhere...Henry de Bromhead no winners for 25 days.
Will he recover in time for Cheltenham? |
By:
Good jockey,Walsh.
Would he have retired himself from the JP gig? It's a top retainer at the end of the day. |
By:
Like wsb stated, it was far from certain FTF would have seen out this course and distance so well in the conditions. Regardless of the tactics. Someone was very confident that it would be a going day for him.
By:
I definitely wouldn't have been confident in FTF staying in that ground, yet afterwards Mark Walsh seemed to suggest the ground may have helped. It's interesting looking back that the first two home were what many would have considered as the speed horses in the race, compared to the out and out stayers.
By:
Presumably there's some chance FTF will be supplemented for the GC (given that he's gone from 3 to 5 on here for the Ryanair)
By:
Kargese/Townend. Anyone else dubious about the merit ( or otherwise ) of Townend pulling out wide and right across to the near rail ( as we viewed ). Lost much of his advantage in doing so. Surely would have won otherwise?
Two very good horses. Both entered at Cheltenham - hope they both go. |

You cannot be anything but impressed with Fact To File, travelled, jumped, stayed, just very impressive, certainty for the Ryanair but at his age this has to be the time to take on the Gold Cup, as someone who has Haiti Coleurs and Grey Dawning at prices I actually feel more enthused about their chances after the Irish Gold Cup, it should also not be underestimated just how hard a race lots of horses have had at this meeting and that could leave a scar come the big days at the festival.

By:
Could, should, would. I think we seasoned race-watchers know all that but thanks for the refresher.
Yes, I was impressed with Fact To File who may have again improved a bit and looks very good for the Ryanair double. If he goes. However I think his form is so good they’ll have to have a go at the Gold Cup, whether the trip is a doubt or not. Not often we see two past National winners entered for same - Maximus and Rockett. |
By:
Very Interesting on Saturday when Haiti Coleurs takes on Jango Baie, not sure that the 2m7f is what Haiti wants but just need a good prep for the big one.
By:
I was impressed by Jango Baie at Kempton. Recovered from a shuddering early error and stayed on well enough. Hoping for a good, more settled run. Will they be tempted by the Gold Cup do you think? I would give him another year personally.
By:
Jango Baie is favourite for the gold cup and will go for sure unless something happens at Newbury on Saturday, I think he is very poor value and always has been with so much yet to prove, remember in the King George four horses went past virtually together which casts doubt on that form, he may well win on Saturday with his extra bit of toe doing Haiti, its going to be a small field with just these two who can win it so a tactical cat and mouse race which wont tell us much.

By:
KG steadily run & on borderline g/f...almost certainly that track & set up didn't play to JB's strengths
7yo with festival novice form over shorter nice profile if bowen was to ride probably 7/2fav |

By:
Bowen will ride Haiti Coleurs
