I call them commercial charities.  They ( mostly ) have boards of directors ( that drain finances via salaries ) and some, like the Mutts Trust, have large fleets of company cars and vehicles.  £8K spending per dog rehomed was the last figure I read about.  Is that charity?  So many of them inhabit the adverts of 11.00am to 3.00pm television to soak as much as possible from the sentimental of the “grey” economy.  Very wrong ( but clearly legal ) imo.

Agreed.  Most unfairly so imo.  Just like the Dog’s Trust desperately want to end the greyhound breeding and racing industry, and do as much mud-slinging as possible to aid their case.  Instead of trying to outlaw the rank cruelty of puppy farming and various other under the radar dog abuses of indiscriminate breeding and poor care of the resultant offspring.  In fairness, fifty years ago there was definitely a case to be argued but no more.  Greyhound racing is now totally turned around with welfare very much in the forefront of the aspirations of the industry.  And that needs to continue and be continued.

For me it's the craven people nominally in charge that's the problem. In the past ignorant idiots would be laughed off, now those in charge will simply cave in, given the slightest pushback.
