The Owners responsibilty,imo.
The late husband of Caroline Mould was worth in excess of £6OM when he died |

The Horse won about 1.2M in prizemoney and produced one of the comebacks of all time. Wasn't there a book written about him too? The old bint should be ashamed of herself

By:
U would like to assume Henderson would have paid it if not the multi millionaire if they were made aware of the situation which if its to be believed they both have been but obviously I can't vouch for that
By:
Owners responsibility not potential saps via go fund me
By:
They are the ex owners the current owner has it up on a Facebook page and that is how it has exploded on various social media wether or its true or not in this day in age its very difficult to know
By:
You are a sucker for a sob story Jacko.
I am not |
By:
I would suggest that the current "owner" contacts Mrs Mould asking for help on her ex Champion.
If not forthcoming,shame her |

I was fortunate to visit Sprinter Sacre in retirement at Vicki’s, where he’s cared for to an exceptional standard. It’s saddening that a horse who gave so much to the sport and to his owners is now reliant on donations to meet vet costs
Wishing Sprinter and Vicki the best From FB COMMENTS: Sprinter has experienced a Sequestrum from an old injury to the splint bone, following a trauma in the field. It requires surgery and hospitalisation. We unfortunately do not have the funds to continue with the treatment he now needs, hence the GoFundMe |
By:
I do agree that if its factual the widow should be paying for treatment but its currently all over social media so I'm sure tomorrow will tell a lot especially given sir gino unfortunate circumstances

Just had a quick google. Is it really only £5k they are trying to raise?
Surly the previous owner would pay that in a heartbeat? |
By:
5k to these millionaire/ billionaire owners is pennies.
They are a disgrace. |
By:
We as a country should be very wary of these very wealthy people.

I would be surprised if Henderson doesn't sort it out

My friend says the Horse is 20 Years old and it might be kinder to put him to sleep.

Hendersons daughter has tweeted that the current owner is misleading people.
Nicky and Caroline are aware of the situation. Nicky has spoken with the vets. Caroline is covering all costs. |
By:
I thought it would be sorted by them. Pretty shameful that this was made public in the first place by the owner.

Some people thrive on cheap gossip…….Irn.

Good to hear that brandy thanks

Not that it has any baring on this topic but sprinter sacre is the most talented national hunt horse I ever saw.

Nicky Henderson
@sevenbarrows It would appear there has been some confusion last night and this morning over a Go Fund me page set up for Sprinter Sacre. The Go Fund me page was set up entirely independently of Seven Barrows and without Caroline Mould’s or our knowledge. Sprinter is currently with a Seven Barrows vet at Donnington Veterinary surgery, where he will undergo a minor procedure, funded entirely by Seven Barrows. This was always the plan from the moment I was made aware of the issue and we will continue to monitor the situation moving forward. Thankfully Sprinter is absolutely fine and will return to his Gloucestershire home tomorrow. 10:38 AM · Jan 28, 2026 · 18.4K Views https://x.com/sevenbarrows/status/2016460984215327205?s=20 |

Thanks to NH for clearing that up. Which leaves the question - “Where did the original bulletin come from, and why”?

Racing Post
@RacingPost The following statement has been posted on the Sprinter Sacre GoFundMe, confirming the page will be closed and donations refunded. "We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has shown concern, kindness and support for Sprinter Sacre over the past few days. The volume of messages from around the world has been a powerful reminder of the extraordinary place he holds in the hearts of racing fans. "Following discussions with the veterinary team, Nicky Henderson has today confirmed that he has covered the costs of Sprinter Sacre’s veterinary investigation and treatment at the hospital. We are extremely grateful that Nicky has stepped up in this moment, and this reflects the care, responsibility and commitment he has always shown towards Sprinter, both during his racing career and in retirement. "As a result, the GoFundMe page will now be closed and all donations will be refunded in full as soon as possible, as costs have now been met. |

Thanks to NH for clearing that up. Which leaves the question - “Where did the original bulletin come from, and why It appears to have been originally generated by the current owners of the horse who knows why they felt the need on the first place I guess the truth is only known by themselves and the people at Hendersons yard |

Does Caroline Mould still own SS?
Is she still with us and/or is she infirm? |
By:
who owns the horse - does mrs mould and hes sort of on loan to vicky roberts - if so normally who pays what including exceptional costs would be agreed beforehand or is he now owned by vicky ie her responsibility ?
5k can be absolutely chicken feed when you ‘own’ an ageing horse - what happens when the next thing happens or he needs ongoing medicine / supplements at an extra £100 - £200 per month sounds very unsatisfactory to me |
By:
regarding the post about possibly putting him to sleep because hes nearly 20 - i hear this in the horse world all the time - imo that decision should not be made on age but on the prognosis and the horses character etc - plenty of these horses can live a healthy life into their 30s and still be ridden / exercised etc thats still a 3rd of their life for a 20 year old to go - especially if they are with a private ‘owner’ / carer
By:
Yep my Rory was ridden till 22 , lived till 32 , my only issue with this saga is that people should think first ie ' I am struggling to afford xyz for Sprinter and may have to open a Go Funding page ' , rather than just doing it .
By:
the previous owner when he was racing should be paying this..another racing embarrassment..i give regular paypal payments to fox rescues/animal rescues...i wouldnt donate 5p to this farce and i hope his owners when he was racing get shown up for what they are.
By:
Thanks Jacko.
By:
but the next stage is beyond what can reasonably be funded privately.
How much is she worth? No shame......but remember, they are treated like kings and their owners love them ![]() |
By:
if they have gone skint fairynuff. i dunno but i doubt many would have contributed regardless
i wouldnt and i give billions to animal charities annually in fact i will wager im the only one here who voted alf in an election. fact |
By:
Why did the new owners feel that they couldn't approach the previous connections, you'd like to think that Mould would have said when handing him over to contact here if ever they need money for vets bills, that obviously didn't happen, and even now it appears that it is Henderson and not Mould who has stepped in.
By:
Didnt know Garnett was standing.?
By:
Why continue to speculate?
The horse is being treated and Bill will be paid |
By:
Agreed, and full marks to Nicky for grasping the nettle and putting the matter very much to bed. No jinx, no curse, just conscientious action to help the horse.
By:
Least is sounds like Henderson has stepped in to cover the relatively smallish bill for the likes of the previous owner and Henderson.
Question begs why the new owners never contacted the previous owner or Henderson first time. Surely that would be easier than setting up a go fund me page. All seems a bit odd. A bit like Children in Need when Lewis Hamilton (and others) asks people to donate £5 or £10 to raise say £10m, when he is worth £250m and charges expenses as well!! Makes my blood boil the greedy feckers. Hopefully all is well with the horse. Was a real champion. |
