An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, ERIC CARMEN (IRE), ridden by Benjamin Macey and IONITY (FR), placed third, ridden by Isabel Williams. Being a 7lb claiming conditional, Macey was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider. The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved ERIC CARMEN (IRE)’s placing as although IONITY (FR) was carried off its intended line and became briefly crowded for room ERIC CARMEN (IRE) always looked to be holding the third past the post and appeared to be extending the margin between them going through the line. Macey was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction taking Williams off her intended line......Isabel Williams reported that IONITY (FR), placed third, suffered interference. |

He is palpably steering the horse there. It was not careless, he did not allow the horse to drift, it went where he was asking it to. you don't need to be an experienced horseman to know that pulling hard on the right reign is telling the horse to go right

It's just absurd, if you see the head on reply, he looks up, sees she's there and immediately hangers right. Ludicrous to pretend it was accidental. |

Do you view the head on and conclude the horse went to the rail because the jockey didn't do enough to stop it. Or, he wanted it to go there? |

he's hard on the rail before the omitted final flight it was clearly (correctly) the place he wanted to be & he hasn't done enough to keep his horse straight or realised early enough where she is

If you deliberately risk bringing a horse down (opponent) to gain an advantage, I think it is dangerous. My view is that he bullied her out of it, and may well not have done that to a senior jockey.
My general point is that it should not be passed off as 'accidental' when it was evidently a deliberate manoeuvre. |

1) A rider is guilty of careless riding if he fails to take reasonable steps to avoid causing interference or causes interference by inattention or misjudgement. 2) A rider is guilty of improper riding if he causes interference by some manoeuvre where he knew or ought reasonably to have known that interference would be the result, or any other form of misconduct (whether mounted or dismounted) in the course of riding. 3) A rider is guilty of dangerous riding if he causes serious interference by: Purposely interfering with another horse or rider, or; Riding in a way that is far below that of a competent and careful rider and where it would be obvious to such a competent or careful rider that riding in that way was likely to endanger the safety of a horse and rider this is why its improper riding because he's aiming to come back to the rail & has misjudged where she is |

there's no way he would have gone back to the rail if clear, just for the final run between the last flight and the line. to me it is clear that he initially is going to stay straight (after passing the last) until he sees her.

afaik nobody is stating he tried to put her through the rail. it can be seen on the head on replay, he looks up, sees she's coming and cuts her up deliberately.
