Are there backup dates in the event of the abandonment? With the IHRB, most meetings are normally rearranged within a few days, but since this is a major festival, could they put it back to the following weekend and move other meeting about?

You would hope so naas and navan race the following weekend so I should think they would have to be consulted,I do think over there the courses are more willing to help for the good of the sport.

Update an hour ago from the track saying they're looking forward to a great weekend of racing.

Barry Connell seems to be indicating that Marine Nationale may not run if the ground is bottomless.

No rain since yesterday so far, although we are supposed to have rain each day up to Sunday. Hopefully its just showers and not the level we've had. They've done some job pumping the water out to be fair to them. Hopefully Lydia gives the green light for racing to go ahead

Track is currently raceable. Heaviest rain expected Thursday night. As always the hurdles track will ride heavier than the chase track.

On Wednesday's Nick Luck pod the Leopardstown  track chief Peter Roe was practically saying that everythings drained away and there'll be no problems, no caveat, no note of caution whatsover.

The problem that exists now though is that what is the point of the meeting going ahead even if it is "raceable" if there are a stack of non runners and it ends up being a damp squib...no pun intended

Yeah Glasgow it wasn't that difficult to predict as I don't live too far away. Anyone with half a racing brain should have known. Whats worrying is the coc stated on Wednesday that he can't foresee any problems re racing on Saturday and Sunday!! That's some statement. Did he not see his track had turned into a river on Tuesday? Or did he just turn a blind eye hoping the rain would go away. He put many thousands of people away. Anyway should be OK the next 2 days. Although if I owned a horse due to run he most certainly wouldn't be now. Especially with a view to Cheltenham. How many are going to forsake Cheltenham running in this utter quagmire..

"I've just walked the course with the track team here at Leopardstown and we're getting there. We're still the wrong side of the line but we're a lot closer to the line than we were this morning.

"It's still not raceable, but it's getting there. It's been a drying day and there is a dry forecast so a full night of Leopardstown soakage should get us to where we want to be in the morning.

"We're very hopeful and for the first time all week the weather forecast is on our side for once."
