Looking for a bit of help,from any locals regarding Dublin racing festival
Help with a nice evening meal venue plus a few drinks possibly bit of live music ?
Not near the temple bar £12 a pint nonsense.

Disappointed that nobody has given any suggestions. However, The Step Inn, Stepaside isn't too far away and has reasonably priced food and advertise live music. Beyond that, I'm afraid I can't help. Maybe someone will endorse, or slate my suggestion.

Only seeing this now. If your going back into city centre the Arlington on Bavhelors Walk is ok. Pints about 8 euro and you can get a nice meal there. Downstairs there's an Irish dancing show if its something you'd like to see.

Entertainment wise plenty going on after racing on the racecourse always a good atmosphere,no rugby this year which they would normally show,there’s nothing wrong in walking back to the Clayton hotel around a 15 minute walk always entertaining in there plus you can get food ,also nearby is a tram stop ( they call it another name)where you can go directly into the city ,you won’t get any bargains in Dublin but it is what it is ,if this is your first visit I would strongly recommend paying the extra for a seat the view of the racing is superb.if your travelling in from the city there’s a free bus service from the tram stop . Have a great time and good luck. |

Incidentally the palace bar in Dublin is by far the best bar.

 ..Anyway heres my take on it ,Jimnast says it as it is dublin can be expenive like most capitol cities but its ok compared to most .A World class choice of hotels you'll find it hard to beat them anywhere in the World . Food in Dublin is overall good and plentiful with a huge mixture of international choice...Sadly you didn't say what part of the City you are staying in otherwise I would have been more informative.. |

Just noticed this thread,The Leopardstown Inn (Lep Inn) is a good meet up spot for a pint and a bite as it's about a 20 minute walk to the track or the aforementioned Clayton Hotel about a 15 minute walk but more of a hotel bar than the Lep Inn.
https://www.cobblestonepub.ie/ is a good place for ballads and excellent Guinness but they don't do food afaik https://www.facebook.com/mcneillspub similar to above where I think you can get food and you won't be paying Temple Bar prices either. You'll love either of these as they're old real no frills but great atmosphere pubs Enjoy. |

If you head down from Patrick's Cathedral to Christ Church Cathedral (5 mins walk) instead of turning right to Dame St/Temple Bar turn left along New St to the Liberties/Thomas St area. Plenty of pubs and places to eat there. Some real Dublin pubs there with live music etc.

Whilst the Clayton is a hotel bar and normally they are pretty boring places for those 3 nights for the drf it’s basically full of racing enthusiasts from the uk and is fine for a couple of hours after racing ,before a ride into Dublin ,if you like Indian food try pickle it’s very good you would probably need to book in advance.

The George on Great St George Street would fit all your criteria- great food, live music and reasonable prices and just a 10min walk from your hotel.

There are loads of shops(PP, Boyles and to a lesser extent Ladbrokes) in Dublin City Center
Spread your stake around to avoid bet refusal. |

Not a local but been to Leopardstown and stayed overnight in Dublin.
There aren’t really any pubs within easy reach of a Luas station south of Charlemont apart from the Clayton Hotel. West of Charlemont Luas there is McCaffertys and Portobello Bar. West of Harcourt Luas is the Spoons Keavan’s Port and a favourite of mine, the Bleeding Horse. Walking down Camden Street which becomes Wexford Street there are several bars on both sides of the road . And then you are pretty much into the City Centre. |

Never in all my years seen parts of the track flooded as they are atm. The track has a great reputation for its drainage but this rain to continue for most of the week.

That Citizen M Hotel is very close to Camden St,Wexford St,Georges St,Dame St which all good locations for Pubs and Restaurants,no need to spend 10-12 Euro a pint in Temple Bar.

Really can't see this taking place this weekend. Probably stall it until Wednesday and Thursday if they can although that creates its own problems. And if it goes ahead Saturday and Sunday there has to be plenty of non runners. Would you run your horse in double heavy ground so close to Cheltenham?
