Fact To File is a big drifter. He's out to 3.1 from 5/4; the fav is now Gaelic Warrior also from Mr Mullins's stable (a stable renowned for playing the punters). Both horses have a CD win, and are not perturbed by the prevailing ground.

Take your pick, a watching brief or playing another Mr Mullins's disdain to punter?

It's a strange one as I think this is the wrong trip for many....question is who will it suit the most as this seems a prep for many of them.

The Racing Post ( David Jennings ) eulogising about it being as good as any Gold Cup when in fact it is a joke race full of horses running at distances far short of their optimum essentially schooling in public imo.

The journey has to begin somewhere and let's face it, if this was a race held in the UK it would consist of 4 runners.
10 runners in this. Could be one lurking at a decent price, and one that is effective at this trip.
Excellent race, decent performers and a good turnout.
What's not to like eh.

Unless with inside info this race is a tune-up for one of the more prestigious and important races eg King George or The Savills. And, as it's being run in Ireland with the two principals housed in the Closutton Stable a financial prudence would be to abstain.

A 4-runner competitive race or a 10-runner racecourse "gallop" principally for one stable only? I certainly know which I'll prefer.

Only 2 runners have the speed for 2.5 miles at the top level and the market demonstrates that at 10/1 bar the two. Interesting that Gaelic Warrior is now favourite. Is this his main target for the season? There are questions about the form of some Mullins horses but the best ones seem to be winning, all at odds on. If you take out the 5 odds on shots he is zero from 27 in the last 2 weeks. I will not be having any bets at Punchestown.

Akin to having a race of the highest rated middle distance flat horses running over 5f at Epsom leif, might only be a 4 horse race if in the UK but at least they would probably have realistic prospects at the trip?

Can’t believe there’s so much negativity about this race but don’t worry soon have the small field rubbish back.

If they were all fully fit jimnast and running over 3 miles it would be a classic but they are not.

Only about half a dozen or so GD1 Wnrs on display.

Sorry, but when one trainer has 7 of the 11 runners I just cant buy into it.

You could have Usain Bolt v Mo Farah over 800 m and call it a race jimnast but because most would not enjoy it does not mean they would not find athletics enjoyable? Matters not how high the ratings if the trip is obviously wrong for most and certainly not a betting medium imo?

Proper and competitive Gp1 racing - yes; to make up the numbers - no! These are seasoned performers and not novices. As such, more about the retention of their ability and fitness.

I enjoy horseracing very much..., not fake ones though.

Wonder if the owners know their horses are in a fake race.
Ridiculous.

I should think everyone at punchestown today is looking forward to the race why wouldn’t they want to see some of the best chasers in training racing each other .

I love racing and will be watching the Durcan but I do not expect to learn much from it. Whether Gaelic Warrior is back to his best perhaps.

If we could guarantee fitness I would not hesitate to nominate Fastorslow as a bet jimnast, few will travel better if he is fit but is he?  Good luck anyone having a punt and I will watch with interest tbh.

Fake racing ? A ridiculous post.

11 runners including winners of the Arkle, Cheltenham Gold Cup, Ryanair, John Durkan (2) Punchestown Gold Cup (2) and even the Grand National. Numerous grade winneers including G1's. 4 runners rated 170 or more, and 3 in the 160's.

As for the trip, the favourite has won 9 times, 6 of them at 20f or under. The 2nd fav has won 6 times, 3 of them at 20.5f or under. The 3rd fav won this race last year.

Mullins has horses owned by several diffent owners in the race, they deserve to be represented in this top class race.

Just watched an interview with jp when Gleason pointed out fact to file was heading towards 9/4 he basically indicated that would be a very fair price .
