White Birch is in the HIT sales, would be something of a boost to his price if somehow were to win.
Report leif October 5, 2025 12:26 PM BST
Believe he ay have adopted an approach using, Ground Conditions, Draw and Jockey.

White Birch doesn't mind it very soft, Los Angeles ran well last year having been able to pull over from a wide draw to make it on the inner (will need similar tactics this time).
Quissana has a jockey that knows the course and is drawn relatively well.

Draws 1- 7 holds a sizeable advantage for me.

Minnie Hauk drawn 1 could get a good tow from its stablemate, if said stablemate bags the rail from a wide draw.
Sosie is drawn 3
Kalpana drawn 10 bit of a handicap, but she could nick a place.

My 3 against Blakey.

Does Kevin adjust the stride patterns on soft
Ground?? Or are they the same on quick ground ??
Report differentdrum October 5, 2025 12:39 PM BST
Looks like the usual throwing three darts tactic. Working on the basis that if he picks a fancied runner nobody will big it up, and on the other hand, these three will quickly be forgotten. White Birch isn't as good as he was, and no form at the trip. Los Angeles looks to be going backwards and hardly ever wins. Quisisana on all known evidence isn't good enough.

Here's my prediction, stewarts. The Horsewatchers will buy him for 40,000gns, have him gelded then send him to Rebecca Menzies for a hurdling campaign Wink

'acey', Joseph Murphy, not Joseph O'Brien. He's a good and hungry jockey, not Keane the over-rated Juddmonte acquisition.
Report impossible123 October 5, 2025 2:08 PM BST
I think Blake is trying his luck again after his extremely lucky and fortunate tc last year, one he did not have a penny on.

The horse is receiving the same treatment from his trainer as Constitution Hill from Hendo. It beggars  belief what he's doing here. I think he's never run over this trip. Maybe nothing to lose given his intended sale.

On Kalpana as well but I never leave an Aga Khan horse out. Best race horse breeder of my lifetime. Calandagan was thought to be their best but Daryz did the job. Two 3yos clear of Sosie in third.

Blake is ok. I do not begrudge him looking after his own interest 1st. He's now the travelling head lad and spokesperson for Joseph overseas.
Report differentdrum October 5, 2025 6:05 PM BST
Are you saying that because he has a finger in a million pies it excuses him filling a column with three rubbish darts? Not sure how that makes him ok?
Report LoyalHoncho October 5, 2025 6:07 PM BST
I think he is giving up the column.
Report impossible123 October 5, 2025 7:10 PM BST
I think he's too busy these days. He'd also alluded to in the past his honest and frank views about participants in horseracing eg jockeys did not go down well with some. Also, the forum could be controversial.

Report LoyalHoncho October 6, 2025 1:12 AM BST
Neither have I.  I would doubt he ever would.
Report impossible123 October 6, 2025 7:19 AM BST
He and Cunningham used to post here whenever they could. Both were frank and informative, a rare commodity from individuals in the profession. They'd also alluded to a rather "cool" response from jockeys to requests for interviews post a critical assessment of their riding.
Report differentdrum October 6, 2025 7:30 PM BST
If he is giving up the column it hasn't stopped him writing a second one on the Arc. Strangely, no mention of his three darts.
Report LoyalHoncho October 6, 2025 9:50 PM BST
Who really cares?  Haven’t read a tipster for I don’t know how long because they have very little of value ever to say, as far as I’m concerned.  If they want to keep shoving money his way for copy he’s entitled to take it.

It's the age old problem, if people have umpteen jobs, it makes it that much more difficult for anyone to get a foot in the door.

Many years ago I did a short placement at the Express & Star. Rather than use a local journalist, they were employing someone based in Yorkshire who probably wouldn't have come near Wolverhampton.

I very rarely cash out, but I will be cashing out my profit on Daryz. Said all along going to York is bonkers. They have made the Juddmonte his Arc without a step in between. I don't expect him to get close, and I will be surprised if he even runs in the Arc.

Great shame that they have gelded Yellow Jersey. I think he is very good. He may have beaten rubbish on debut, but at the time I thought he quickened like a very good horse. Upped in class he has now won two more races with a great deal of ease. Today he won despite the ride. He wasn't well away as the commentator suggested. Redvers was talking about him as a stayer, but he has far too much pace for that route. I think he is more exciting than Daryz.

This is what Graffard said after the York LAST

Delashay  • August 20, 2025 4:19 PM

Add that to what Graffards had said about his:

Graffard said: "I thought he would be our best three-year-old. Mentally he was quite backwards and we've had to bring him along step by step, but we don’t have much choice but to try him in the deep end.
"Good ground will be an advantage for him, but it’s a high-quality field full of horses with more experience than him and I hope there will be plenty of pace on.
"I feel we need to teach him something. He needs to learn what is ahead and going to York, the journey and a strong field will do him a lot of good.

"I think sometimes you need to be prepared to lose to win in the long run."

DD are you s annoyed now at another non tryer like Caulificar was at Deauville? Or see it as a great training performance?Confused

Report differentdrum October 7, 2025 10:44 AM BST
As Penzance said your post has nothing to do with this thread so why post? What are you trying to achieve besides simply having a pop?

If people want to they can go and read the Ante-Post thread and they would find more sensible stuff posted by myself than anyone else on thread. Not wishy washy stuff, direct opinion, most of which was correct. Contrast that to your posts which were 99% trainer quotes. No opinion yourself, just quoting someone else.

As for being annoyed you wouldn't be human if you didn't feel great about cashing out a 75/1 winner, although I doubt many have been in that position.
Report Delashay October 7, 2025 11:02 AM BST
No one’s having a pop and I’ve given plenty of opinion, you backed the horse to save looking like a mug, your own words DD.

Also in your own words you wrote him off, knowing like you do better than the trainer, like you do Fabre!

Who had greatly annoyed you for running Caulificar unfit at Deauville. I asked if that the same trick was played worn Daryz, no answer!

Consistency please!

Can Aventure give the weight as a 4 year old? I’m not having what they said earlier:

It's fair to say she's not very impressive as a model but she has grown and, more importantly, she's become much stronger," said Ferland. "She showed a lot of class last year but this year she's more mature and more professional. She definitely developed in the spring and I find her to be stronger this year."

She hasn’t looked it and only ran against the colts once this year. She’s bagged her G1 last time out so I see why the trainer feels no pressure this year.

Kaplana got closer to Calandagan on ground that was fast enough for her than Aventure did, even if Goyen was easy on her.
That to me isn’t enough evidence for her to be favourite. She has to lump weight to Minnie Hauk who’s a big filly & won’t be getting 10lb from the older colts this year.

She’s only beat Junko 2 1/2L when he was her pacemaker at Saint - Cloud. He was only 2L behind last years 6th place Sevennah’s Knight earlier this year.

An opion given on the fav and many of the journo’s picks, a perfect lay! And it was there for anyone to discuss, which none of you did!

If that’s not a solid stance on the FAV then my prrricks a bloater! LaughLaughLaugh
