So the new set up on Saturdays is that Steve Mellish does the preview, waits out the back during the racing and comes back to review the racing afterwards.

Meantime Nevison pops into the studio to talk about the markets for about five minutes flat, over a few hours racing, alongside a 'form' pundit, today Martin Dwyer.

What on earth is that about. On Saturdays there's very little time to discuss the goings on between races anyway, plus the Irish stuff. So now we have one or two pundits at each track, a studio presenter and two studio pundits.

All profits returned to racing Plain

They all need a slice of the pie. Seriously, none of them are even worth listening to. Even worse if the tiresome Captain is hovering around as well. We are never told exactly how much goes to racing, it's just a banner headline.

In my view some of them are worth listening to. But not Nevison, he must know where the bodies are buried. He almost relishes in the fact that he just turns up at the studio every week, getting paid to watch racing.

This new set up is bizarre. Mellish can talk about market movements. Nevison used to achieve very little when he was also doing the previews, apart from forgetting his own tips and to switch his mic on.

Great to see that racing tv are helping the government out with the spiking unemployent rate. Just the six people (pundits/presenters) covering a mundane night on the sand in Kempton CryLaugh

Half of them will be flying off to Dubai shortly to cover the racing that none of their fee payers give a flying fook about and that won't be cheap.

She'd actually be capable enough of presenting or roving reporter type of thing (not Kempton Wed night, obs!). Early days for her being employed by the channel, but doesn't seem to be cut out to be a form pundit/ race reader/ betting expert.

Half of them will be off to Meydan shortly covering racing that their fee payers couldn't care less about and that won't be cheap, but not to worry, once all that has been paid for the remaining £2.50 will be ploughed back into racing.

Funny Wicklow, Jacob was asked by Luck to elaborate on why Bowen's ride on Way Out was so good (as Jacob made it number one ride of the week). He'd had a few days to come up with a response. Ruby Walsh was asked the same, on the spot, live on itv. The direct comparison doesn't do Jacob any favours!

Dont think they pay for Maydan. Although the presenters get a chunk from the towelheads for every broadcast, hence them all scurrying over there whenever possible

Quite who that programme is for I do not know. It is beamed out every meeting(not on RTV) but nor is it shown on any TV channel I know of

Wicklow, he is there because of his unsurpassed knowledge of AW racing. I assume. And also to make "****" look good.

Would have been nice to have seen Jacob come up with something slightly interesting after Luck (before the live at Exeter), asked him to come up with his three fav rides of the meeting. He simply picked the obvious three winners, including Powell in the Greatwood. On a horse with a stone in hand, lol.

Mellish is worth listening to in my opinion. In their wisdom he is banished to the canteen for the important bit, and comes back into the studio talk about it when it's all over. That was the genesis of this thread, and production haven't worked out yet that this a bizarre and futile approach.
