Its alright,Aceform's race reading ability is at the same as reading Janet & John for 6YO's.
The draw beat the horse.
Other than coming six wide and lighting the horse up early the horse was being kept in for far longer than the jockey would have liked.
It happens.

He's a very good horse with no issues between the ears as far as I can see. How races have been run and draws haven't been ideal. As I have said maybe a touch harsh but I do believe a real top class jock could  have made a difference but it's not certain.  But if he was mine I would replace Levey if a top jock was available.
Report formoftheace September 8, 2025 3:12 PM BST

Report 1st time poster September 8, 2025 3:19 PM BST
the point is in his last 3 races ,has the horse had the horse got both the speed to lay up with the pace and still have his kick at the end, theyve been making excuses for about 6 of his runs last 2 seasons,if they ran him at york if grounds ok in paris you,d think they,d run in the floret instead of waiting for ascot and worrying about getting his ground

Report brandyontherocks September 8, 2025 8:49 PM BST
Not much he could do from that draw.

Remember reading when Doyle asked Piggott his advice on Sea Of Class in the Arc when she was drawn high.
He said to drop her in and hope for the best.

Report LoyalHoncho September 8, 2025 9:48 PM BST
Piggott had a terrible draw on Nijinsky in the Arc.  The result was the same as Rosallion’s.  I’m with irons - the draw beat the horse and very little the jock could have done differently.  I still feel it is academic though as the horse is one to be avoided, simply because it repeatedly gets beat!

Report Hayden September 9, 2025 11:25 AM BST
When a horse with proven quality like Rosallion is beaten 5 races on the bounce you can only draw one of two conclusions , the excuses are mounting up or someone is making the same mistake and expecting different results.

And there's nowt wrong with this horse but yes while very good he's not quite the superstar that can overcome everything although something very special would have been needed at Goodwood.
Report impossible123 September 9, 2025 1:20 PM BST
Rosallion is not a superstar horse. He's a very good horse. He's also very lucky (?). Now, the "very unlucky" could be opened to interpretation eg not ridden to potential; questionable race planning; adverse ground condition; adverse draw; unrelated unforeseen circumstances.

I think the most appropriate of the above would be not ridden to potential eg injudicious jockeyship and race planning.
Report Herbie-53 September 9, 2025 4:25 PM BST
I was a fan of Rosallion but I lost patience with him after The Queen Anne where everything was in his favour and
he still fluffed his lines...and against a moderate G1 miler in Docklands who he should've readily picked up.

His most dangerous opponents didn't turn up so not winning that race was a calamity...especially in light of a weak
pace where his legendary speed should've easily prevailed.

Maybe he leaves his best work for the mornings because I've not witnessed the legendary foot Hannon's often spoken of
as if he's in the same league as Canford Cliffs, Toronado, Olympic Glory etc. from that stable - he's definitely NOT!

I think some are a bit tough on the colt (as well as Leavy) as he doesn't look ungenuine to me - he just hasn't
got the tactical speed at crucial stages as was highlighted yet again in The Moulin - the winner won on merit...and
he was sat right him behind 2f out waiting to pounce.

He has definitely been overrated though I still wouldn't rule out him winning any G1 as we're struggling for
quality in the mile division recently - a peak Field Of Gold would be far too good, but unfortunately I suspect
we might've seen the best (and maybe the last) of him. For a change, I might take a look at the Yanks on the turf
at this year's Breeders' Cup because we're struggling for genuine contenders at the moment.

I thought last year (in another poor generation for milers) that Rosallion would be able to take Charyn...but
after The Queen Anne debacle I had to revise that view and since then it's been confirmed a few times - a very
straightforward performer like Charyn would've disposed of him.

I thought 7f might suit and the York race would be an easy G1 but he couldn't handle the drop in trip.
They ALL fcuked up in the Sussex and allowed a bum to steal the race so he has been unfortunate not to supplement his G1
tally and emulate his stablemate Olympic Glory who achieved the rare distinction of winning Group 1s at 2/3/4.

Overall, he's a likeable performer who's reputation has always been a millstone around his neck - admirable & consistent
BUT he undoubtedly is limited compared to even average champion milers over the years...like Charyn.

I hope he stays around next year...and who knows what improvement there might be as a 5yo - I'd be happy for him
to prove me wrong but I firmly believe he's limited in the highest grade...just as his official rating would suggest.
Report brandyontherocks September 9, 2025 4:55 PM BST
Totally agree with you there, Herbie.

He is a decent horse amongst an average bunch of milers.

Leavy has taken a lot of criticism, unfairly in my opinion.

Like Cider said. Give him a go over 10f.
Report FOYLESWAR September 9, 2025 5:12 PM BST
also don't blame the jockey ,once maybe twice a badly judged ride but not 5 times !  he will prob win when he is a double figga price when the majority have given up on him!
Report Herbie-53 September 9, 2025 5:14 PM BST
He may well be worth a try but I'd be surprised if he did so (next year?) as Hannon's
never shut up about how much speed he has - he's not really bred for it and there's
no real stamina throughout his immediate family...and though pedigree's a fair guideline,
there are plenty of examples of sprint-bred performers who've excelled over jumps!

Report Herbie-53 September 9, 2025 5:22 PM BST
Baaeed aside...they've been a below average lot over a mile in the decade since Kingman.
Field Of Gold was the great white hope but things haven't gone to plan and I'm not sure
if they can regain that promise.

The door's been open for a while for a top miler to deliver, just as Charyn did last season
though he was nothing really special - I sound harsh but he was 'only' an average champion
miler however admirable.
