...I'm not clued up like some of you guys,.. but I must say that it's always been suspicious to me that, in what is supposed to be a competitive " sport"......that at any track, in any month, at any distance, in any code, etc etc....that almost exactly 65% of generalised favourites lose.
Regardless of our own opinions, the stats seem to indicate something other than sporting randomness, ....I would feel that it's more a case of a "pre-structured" industry matrix.......and I DO know from my own experiences, that with any involvment of betting and handicapping ...this whole set up is far removed from a simple and true "sporting" challenge I would personally exclude Grade/Group 1 races from the general financial "engineering" element of this thesis on my part. Sorry to bore you all....but I'm bored this morning, and wanted to share my joy !! Like "Seaside" ,I too will be leaving the forum next month, ...I'm going to Yankeeland for 90 days to stay with my son.....definitely not taking the laptop either .... ![]() |

There are some bloody idiotic remarks on here [2025 intake especially] can I ask a question if you have a field of say 10 handicappers do you expect the same result every time ? According to some the answer is yes All entitled to their opinion no matter how incorrect. Other sports 100 golfers according to some result fixed, bloody idiots. I could go on but not much point its all fixed we are doomed lol

One sport that goes under the radar here is basketball, in play betting on it is so bad they frequently have to suspend the market. As for racing, if you’ve followed it for long enough you’ll know that there are 2 or 3 trying and the rest waiting for another day, they don’t all get together and fix the result, that doesn’t make sense.

I would guess pre race that at 6-8 of the 10 jockeys will know each other's intentions i.e. if they feel their mount "has a chance" today or not. as a sample of 10 work colleagues the odds are some don't get on while others are travel companions who share plenty of daily chats and where there's money involved who knows what can develop

Easiest thing in the world to find non triers after the event is to watch a handicap debutante hack up off a low weight then check out their previous runs which will be as plain as day , horses have in general ( with obviously some exceptions ) two careers one before the handicaps and a new one when they're handicapped whether it be the first h/cap run , 2nd or even 3rd run.
That's why all form books are bog paper and in the modern game it's better advice to back horses at big prices that may be capable of winning as opposed to backing short priced horse that have already proved they can win the race as every Tom , Dick and Harry will also know , does wonders for the required strike rate if you largely stick to the low grade stuff and ignore the so called festival nonsense. I'd reckon on over 95% using the latter method so historically you'd have to say that it doesn't work. Good luck today all ![]() |
