They see the two rags out front and just assume they'll come back regardless of whether the pace is quick or not, they don't trust themselves, they are more worried about racing up with it and being criticised for going too quick if the others went past late

Why are jockeys not allowed to receive instructions during the race? An ear piece would have been useful for the jockey and punters.

Many thousands frico. It was clearly a ridiculously dangerous bet as was stated 5 hours PRE. With reasoning. You need to listen to people who know what they're on about. Did you not trade out to limit the bleeding?

ear pieces wouldnt help because its to late you cant make up distance in a crawl quickly without emptying your horse, the dye was already cast ,before you work it out

I thought I was buying money £350 1.05 3 places, I had a strong feeling for an outsider at Scottsville, thought I would play up the winnings e/w, only 1 horse I was worried about. Gutted just stuck a tenner on at 37.4 and It won, however drifted around 1f out, hoping no stewards, stupidly allowed FOG bet to affect this bet. So stupid.

The only jockey who came out of it well was Kingscote; Lordan on Serengeti missed the break and had to rush up. But, Kingscote allowed Lordan and Serengeti to race on, and saved a bit. This proved critical and rewarding. Kingscote and Quirat just held on.

tbf Lydia and Dixon did at least both suggest the winner could be dangerous from the front today, pre race. They basically said you can forget the Ballydoyle pacemaker but Qirat wasn't a no hoper.

As howard knows I was never convinced that the HQ guineas form was up to much. Ascot probably flattered by the very quick pace, a bit like Ombudsman. Interesting to see how he goes from here in open mile races.

Johann maybe right. Only difference here was FOG could not even pull the 3rd back. On a fairly flat track I would back him again, undulating course I would not lay or back.

we have all done it alien ,what I do now is have a absolute minimum bottom line stake ,you can never have enough on a winner but if you set an absolute minimum stake you are happy with it works a lot better .only took me 50 odd years of gambling to work this out !

Quite interesting that Rosallion settled really well today even though they went a dawdle. Wonder if they will give him a spin over 10f

Frico seething. Clearly making up stuff about someone he knows NOTHING about. Begging to see my p&l and not for the first time. As stupid a bet you would ever wish to see. And to try to win a tin of beans Grin. Chin up son there's always tomorrow.

I think connections will have to roll the dice again. FoG cannot finish his career on a defeat. What is next? The most obvious is The Juddmonte, but it's over 10f. Any 8f here or Ireland? The ground in France could be problematic.

"I was never convinced that the HQ guineas form was up to much."  Come on Cider if you believe that how is he going to win what is often the World's greatest race ?  I think he's a very good horse and has a chance.  I also think todays 2nd is the best 7f horse i've seen in England for years although Never So Brave is starting to look special on quick ground.

Certainly consistent, penzance. They will be pleased he settled well today, not so much with the result obviously. Love to see him over the 10
