...and why do the Racing Post need to put a spot next to every horse making the racecard look even more different? We know they're all running for a team ffs.

18:10 Tuco Salamanca was midfield after the start, but was taken back by Nicola Currie (when the pace wasn't actually that fast) and subsequently was never going to get close to the all the way winner. Would still probably have been closer than 8th of 18. Like nearly all class 2 sprints at York, that will turn out to be a good race and the jockey switch to Billy is a positive.
By contrast I was going to lay Secret Beach in the first, before the drift, because I don't rate wins in apprentice races and a I don't like a gap of 13 days between runs because these horses tend to be unlucky, and the stats back this up!

you spent 4 million trying to get people in to racing and a newbie might cotton on to a few horse,s running in red and white all season and tonight the same horse might be running in black/green, pointless

exactly 1tp, caps in team colours would be enough, it ruins the card for me, you relate horses to the silks you normally see them in, and obviously it makes watching the races a farce too. As for owners I'm sure they only tolerate it because of the prize money, you wait for yonks to see your horse win in your colours and then....it gets a win one of these.

We have just had Wimbledon, The British Grand Prix. The Open Golf Championship. A great Cricket Test at Lords.
Sadly The Racing League does not cut the mustard.

Saffie should do well again because her Dad is always so keen on winning this. And the real thorn in the Wales/West team's side was Kevin Blake managing the Irish team and he has now been replaced by Mick Fitzgerald (who may not be as enthusiastic).

Not since the heady days in the 70s,when Fred Truman presented the indoor pub league,of bar skittles, billarads, dominoes and fives and 3s,have the public been in anticipation to the start of a league.

The timing could not have been worse. It's just before the King George & QE2 this weekend, and Goodwood next week. Why waste one's firepower on this pile of doo-doo before the real thing in a few days' time? Totally illogical, I think.

If the object is promote public interest in teams, then the public need to care. The teams are nebulous and therefore meaningless. The point made above normal colours (with distinguishing caps, or say number clothes with team ID), then I'd most likely watch it and bet on it, with the commentary and pundit team angle discussions muted. But not when all the silks seem to merge into one incongruous blur, which must be difficult even for the few who actually are interested in the team nonsense.

Isn't it great to see the Scottish team having such a great first night?! Of course you must ignore the fact nothing in their team bar that irritant Steadman is actually Scottish.

If you cannot distinguish the caps perhaps try glasses, easy to ignore everything associated with teams, even Bisto Boy with an IQ of 10 might manage it imvho. Then again he is clueless about racing in normal circumstances and only brave hiding behind a keyboard!!

Horse Racing is NOT a team sport and it never will be. It gives loudmouths like Matt Chapman something to bellow about but that's about it. In my opinion it's best ignored.

Just had a look at the attendance figure for the corresponding Yarmouth Racing League fixture on 25th July last year.
It was actually lower than that of a run-of-the-mill meeting held the week before.

Southwell 2024 racing league 2414 Thursday night the following night 560
In fact other than bank holidays or Sundays the only fixture that got a four figure attendance was racing league night
Hth acey

So many factors can affect attendance. Many courses have a regular day such as Windsor on a Monday and if they had a racing league fixture on a Thursday, the attendance might well be lower than an average Monday.

One of the most ill conceived ideas the "powers that be" have EVER come up with. Nothing new there then. I wonder why they are ALL handicaps????? This idea just doesn't belong in racing.

At the moment we still live in a relatively free country we all have a choice to attend, watch or bet on it .
Yesterday there were another 6 meetings to attend and another 45 races to bet on surely enough unless your a problem gambler.

Good luck Jimnast, only been once, I'm up in Scotland but loved it, a top class course.
The winners yesterday...7/4, 5/2, 10/3, 11/2, 3/1, 7/2, 18/1 hardly a bookies benefitGood luck Jimnast, only been once, I'm up in Scotland but loved it, a top class course.

Well I stopped going quite a few years ago as the expenses and the hassle made it not worth it as I really struggle to back winners there hopefully been in the middle of nowhere for the first 3 days of goodwood might change things.
