Were you on Koepka to make the cut poncho? Unlucky mate, he looks doomed to visiting the airport early.
By:
HN. He did give one good bit of advice about St Andrews. Grease the right palms and getting on is much easier. And his hotel location to go to to do it is accurate.
He’s wrong about the caddy though. First time you go one is well worth it. He’s right in saying to always aim a shade left from every tee but caddies do much more than tell you that. They will tell you shots to play on occasion which can just make your round. Well worth playing at least once in a golfer’s life. Walking down that first fairway, however well you have teed off, is just amazing. |
By:
Poncho did you ever play Bushy, Uxbridge
By:
West Mid was where the drummer from the Kinks belonged.
There’s 3 courses |

Completely agree LH. Definitely on the old bucket list.
The members or Carnoustie call it "the pitch and putt course" which made me smile when I was there. Re your caddy comment I am 100% in agreement. Not only a treat for any golfer but the local knowledge was amazing, not only on the greens but also yardages and lines. Would have been even better on a "going day" but hey ho. |

Poncho.
What is your golf handicap? What London golf courses have you played? |
By:
100 plus runners good luck picking the winner out of that lot !

HN. I was surprised as a youth by two top amateur golfers who said that St Andrews as a course was “ a dump”. So it is a view held by many but nevertheless its history is just sublime ( as I know you know ). It still is ( I believe ) a council run course so it doesn’t get the intense detailed attention of the Muirfields etc; and equipment continues to advance and thus reduce its defences to the best players but nevertheless it is priceless.
Look over to Ireland for a golfing holiday linked to a competition open to all handicap grades ( when we played it ). It was called “Heart of Down” and was played out of Ardglass, a coastal village just south of Belfast. Promoted by their Tourist Board. If it still exists I recommend it. Then you can play County Down which is another terrific course. |

Dustin Johnson. Through 13 day 2 and +2, right in the M.C. zone. Double bogey required please. Anywhere.

By:
Superb...Thank you LH

Courses local to me that I would recommend.
Surrey Lingfield (Play on a race day and you can sit in the bar after and watch the racing. Very underrated course and great value ) Walton Heath (Friend got me on...wow.) Silvermere (Not played in a while but a belter) Pine Ridge (Not played in a while, used to be stunning) Kent Westerham (Had loads of work done, mainly tree removal, cracking course) Lullingstone Park (The course condition and views for £25 will not be beaten anywhere imo) Nizels (Ex member but in truth found it far too tough for my game...a beast of a track but a belter) Knole Park (Just exceptional, watch out for the deers) |
By:
Front 9 Silvermere was superb for a Public course in the 90.s
By:
Was the 17th the island hole then String, if you can remember. I was going to mention it but cannot remember if it was the 16th or 17th?
By:
Sorry cant remember , we only played the front 9,, cos back 9 was pony
By:
rory and sky been doing a lap of honour for hrs ,he,ll be lucky if he starts on sat only 7 behind
By:
What a streaky player this JJ Spaun is. Five birdies today and counting to contrast his five bogeys yesterday.
By:
Lowry in trouble - did he make his ball move at address?
By:
Scheffler looking awesome. For me whoever beats him wins the Open.
By:
odds on with 36 still to play.
By:
Wow! I no sooner say that and he actually loses his balance on the 17th tee trying to hit it too hard. Wide right result.
By:
wide right indeed, got lucky, makes birdie. it could just be a procession by the time they get to the 10th tee on sunday
By:
Not over yet, hard to back up a 64, on an
Open c/hip course, 2 or 3 club wind tomorrow, field could bunch Question, would you take chef or the field?? Field for me |
By:
wind speed forecast tomorrow is 12-13 mph. sunday 9-10 mph. i'll take scheffler in that wind. harman would be dangerous if 20-25mph winds were forecast.
By:
Agreed poncho, SS too short given we are only at half way. He is playing some great stuff though, bit miffed given he would have put some away with his comments earlier in the week.
My 5 are having a mixed time, Penge Missed Cut as will Fox i believe. Henley solid without really looking like contending, Hatton and Rory going ok. Anybody who backed Bryson to miss the cut would have enjoyed yesterday, not so happy today though ! |
By:
A bullseye on Rory, Tyrell, and McIntyre
All at 30s. Fook chefler at 4/7 ?? |
By:
i think fox sneaked in with a birdie at the last.
rory is struggling with his new driver still, he wont be a factor. good luck poncho, hope you get a good run for your money at the least. |
By:
Tame, he can’t hit it any worse off the tee, might
Find something on the range, think There’s a low one in him, hopefully tomorrow, then The crowd kick in on Sunday, McIntyre been best Tee to green, chef shoots 70 or 71, 5 or 6 on -2 and up will Shoot 4,5,or 6 under tomorrow. Different tournament then?? Its easy to say cheffler wins.?? Just need wind to blow in afternoon?? |
By:
the wind is a great leveller, youve gotta hope the forecast is wrong.
By:
Weathermen, they talk out of their isobars

By:
This is done. Nothing in behind to beat this guy. Harman will push, Fitzpatrick will try his heart out but they won’t beat this guy. The top four will all get the same weather, the rest playing for top ten.
By:
those that are 7,8,9 behind have nothing to lose and play more aggressively. one of them may well shoot a 64. good luck.

By:
i agree LH.
By:
I’ve watched 47 opens, never missed one, it’s never black and white
At the open, you‘ll see ?? |
By:
It is when there’s a player like this up front at the cut and in total control of his game and temperament. It doesn’t happen often I grant you that but, when you see a guy like this no point in looking for one to beat him.
By:
Can Brooks catch him poncho?
