He's charged with being over the limit, I'm taking that as fact.
We know for a fact that he crashed the car into a tree. We know for a fact that the passenger received serious injuries. In all seriousness, we all understand about human frailty and we're none of us perfect, but you've got to draw the line somewhere before the worst happens. |

It's none of your business, duffy.

Yes it is Duffy.

Lots making excuses for him when none are needed.
Duffy you missed out the refusal of giving the sample. Personally Mo Farah’s rep was tarnished by not giving two samples on arranged dates. After the Olympics everyone talked legacy. His legacy is up in the air at the moment and he is in the shady dodge-pot category with Mo - to add to his list of ever growing bad judgments! |
|
By:
Dela, what excuses have been made for him?
|
|
By:
Quote them or recite them verbatim giving forimites handle.
|
|
By:
agree that the courts should first decide on any punishment, then see where that takes him in racing terms
thought he was constantly being monitored for alcohol/drug testing as are all other jockeys so it suggests he does have his drinking currently under some form of control or he would have been caught somewhere done the line |

don't talk utter sense NE

Plenty of you are saying it’s nothing that bad. Like it happens all the time. People have brought race riding into the topic when this isn’t about that.
How’s the fishing going? Missed your Ascot lays. We all f up and sine of us get lucky to see the light and say no more. From one human to another - I hope that he has that moment of clarity to think - shat what have I done or am I capable of? If he feels no night sweats having done all that he’s attached to then he’s something else. |

can't say i recall anyone saying it's not that bad, the ones with sense are saying let the authorities deal with it in the correct order as they have the full facts

Being multiple champion jockey isn’t much of a legacy in the great scheme of things, if he doesn’t change his ways he has that to take with him!

Not sure why, after the law has run its course, Oisin Murphy then has to answer to the court of sour losers on the betfair forum.
Not part of the statute unless I'm missing something. |

If that’s aimed at me then you can’t read human to human. Sour? Well it’s a short word to spell!

You couldn't quote them because you can't Dela. Because they don't exist. Most if not all of your posts on this thread along with Duffy contain pure speculation and conjecture. I can only speak for myself but I am debating whether the BHA should have any jurisdiction or authority at all on whether Murphy can continue his job at this present moment and even after settlement. I think he should. The offense is a civil matter which is yet to be settled. Your posts are driven from an emotional view point rather than factual. Christ, it's like talking to the wife.

A civil matter?

Look it up duffy

You're obviously referring to something else, this is a criminal case.

By:
Indeed it is. So we abide with whatever the criminal court decides on Thursday.
Everybody is happy. |

Civil in the sense that outside of his job Murphy is a civilian.
|

By:
So no. Not referring to something else Duffy.

Civil in the sense that outside of his job Murphy is a civilian. Go on then, what does that even mean and what's your point? |
|
By:
There are two different but related issues. One is what happens in court and whatever happens the evidence is going to be unsavoury.
The other point is that a jockey needs a license to ride and if the BHA say Murphy has failed to address his problems and is therefore a danger to other riders then they won't licence him. |
|

They took him to the cleaners, and other mr meaners But he got right up between her rump and her ribena |

By:
Murphy turns up to work and midway through a race pushes a jockey off a horse like soinillon did to rossa Ryan was it? Then the BHA have every right to dole out punishment. The offense he committed was as a civilian not a jockey. BHA have no right to stop him earning a living regardless of outcome of criminal proceedings in the civilian world which is where the offense was committed.
|
|
By:
If he was drunk then he was contravening the BHA stipulations after his 14 month ban. So the body that allows him to ride and grants him a license can do what they see fit.

I simply couldn’t be bothered as had already touched on them in a previous post if you’d of read without your biased motherly over protection for a wrong ‘un.
Delashay • June 27, 2025 8:36 AM BST That needing him will only add to his feeling of being bigger than he is and fuel the monster within him. Celebrate the good kick out the bad. No one outside of racing has heard of Lambourn or cares for it. …”some of the things he's purportedly done are nothing more than a quiet Monday for some people.” That’s some statement! Nothing is unfounded, she was in the car with someone over the limit. We all have a choice. If you go out with someone who carries a knife you’re as bad as getting into a car with someone who is under the influence. In no other sport do they tolerate such bad role models or turn a blind eye. He’s ripping it out of everyone who has given him a chance. No other jock before him was held up and promoted like he was by Chapman, he was in a very privileged position and abused it. Bad apples only rot. You can’t get more factual than my original post. Delashay • June 27, 2025 7:38 AM BST The girl deserves no sympathy whatsoever. She had a choice to get in the car or not to. She made the wrong one and is as complicit as him for not telling him to hand over the keys. He should be kicked out of racing full stop given his track record. FACT : you don’t get into a car that’s to be driven on a public highway by someone who is intoxicated and out of the game! It really doesn’t get more black and white than that! You mistake empathy for emotion. Which was shown because he obviously has problems and is likely to be an over emotional bloke himself - hence his favourite singer is James Blunt! Don’t he write love songs? Hardly Rock ‘N Roll is he! I’d of thought more for female fans! ;) |

I think the most ridiculous comment I’ve read on here on the subject is,…..”he’s absolutely vital for racing”. Laugh Basically saying - let’s all turn a blind eye make excuses as it happened outside the track, because , “He’s vital!” ![]() |

Personally I'd not have him in horseracing until he takes decisive actions to rid this ill of his. He must take time off the sport to attend Alcoholic Anonymous (AA), stay sober (riding or not) and alcohol free for at least 12 months. I do not think Mr Murphy can do both; he's failed twice in the past.
An alcoholic needs to be at rock-bottom 1st, fully understands and has the desire to rid the dependence on alcohol in their life. Until then the individual will never kick the dependence. I firmly believe Mr Murphy will repeatedly infringe the drink-driving rules; repeatedly failed unannounced/unscheduled testing at racecourses; involve in disagreement with joe public because of his addiction. Mr Murphy needs to help himself 1st; he's his worst enemy. He does not need self-pity or pity from any joe public. |
|
By:
Couldn’t agree more Impossible, however all of what you’ve suggested is easier said than done.

"I firmly believe Mr Murphy will repeatedly infringe the drink-driving rules";wrote implausible.
Obviously no need for a trial then ![]() |

So many valid points here. Overall If he he has done wrong the appropriate book needs throwing at him. As a Non drinker/Non smoker/Nil substance abuse all my health, had the odd bet now and again
, I hope he has notlet himself down again. Some people get off on hoping the worst for others, some just like to see fairness. I like the lad and worry like some of my favourite sports stars Best & Higgins he does not go the wrong way, the demon drink & drugs has blighted many careers in sport and us mere mortals. When he is right in himself he is infectious with his knowledge of racing. So please if you want him done, do so for the right reasons and not petty hate. If he is gone you will have to find your next victim for hate. ps Well done Calandagan...... smooth. |
|
By:
Will Calandagan do battle with Jan Brueghel again in the King George at Ascot on 26th July post today's victory? Let's hope so. It could be another ding-dong like previously where the latter prevailed by a smidgeon at Epsom.
